Smile Just back today June 28 **(Updated crowd pics page 6)

Wow what an awesome trip!

Weather: unbelievably hot! Temps reached 104 on a couple days, we drank lots of water, and took breaks every day when the temps climbed.

My tip. There is no reason to be in the parks from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, in summertime, temps and crowds are at the highest, a recipe for misery. Take a break, don't make yourself miserable.

Crowds. IMHO the crowds were much much much lower than I expected. What we encountered was no where near what we have experienced in prior summers. We walked on many many many attractions, something I was not expecting. We didn't wait in a line longer than 30 min, other than Pixie Hollow. We followed TGM's park day recommendations, maybe that is why we didn't see the crowds. We also left miday and returned in the evenings. We were in MK pretty much every evening, and saw the second Specto each night it was offered, we were able to walk up as the parade was starting and watch with no one in front of us or behind us on Main Street, directly in front of the Confectionary. We did catch Fantasmic, the first showing was standing room only 45 min before showtime, the second showing had 4 empty sections. (we chose to see the second showing).

Observations and suggestions:

AK: we got to AK at around 4:00pm, the park was basically a ghost town, we were able to do everything, with out the crowds and heat. I will def do this again.

DHS: If you want to ride TSM get there before opening and ride first thing, don't get in line for Fastpass, the Fastpass line is longer than the line for the attraction. I have never seen anything like the frenzy surrounding this attraction. American Idol was lots of fun, great attraction.

MK: attractions to ride when the crowds crank up: Tiki Room, Pirates, Laugh Floor, Philharmagic, Country Bears. All of these were walk ins, no matter what time of day. Also don't wait in line for attractions like Haunted Mansion, Small World, or Snow White, wait until later in the night and all of these will be walk ons as well.

Peter Pan: If you want to ride PPF, ride first thing in the morning or get a Fastpass. Do not ride stand by for this ride. The wait time posted can not be trusted. I saw standbytimes posted as 30 when I knew the wait was more like 60 min, judging from the line. We used FP and were heckled by the standby line, not pretty, those folks were pretty cranky, and for good reason.

Epcot: Kim Possible missions are awesome! Lots of fun for the whole family.

We used TGM for park days and Ridemax for touring. Both were great investments. Ridemax was dead-on accurate, pretty impressive.

EMH:

We did early EMH at MK, we were able to do lots, we left the park around 11:30, we did not find it overly crowded.

We did late EMH at MK our last evening. We went with the expectation of it being very crowded, and we were just going to enjoy the atmosphere. The first 2 hours were very crowed, the last hour however, was a ride free for all. No waits for anything.

We avoided all other EMHs.

Resort: We stayed at the GF for the first time and it was amazing. We will def stay here again.

If anyone has any questions fire away!

Lots of good information. Very organized and thorough. I love that! Thanks. It's nice to see what one encounters at WDW during the summer months. Our trip isn't until Sept. However we go at various times of the year. So your observations have come in helpful. Also nice to know that TGM and Ridemax were helpful. We use TGM but don't know much about Ridemax.

Glad you had a wonderful time dispite the heat.

Thanks for sharing, especially about the attractions to hit while the crowds are bad. We also use TGM, but I never considered RideMax. I'll have to check that out.

Yes, there was a 40% discount offer for dates in 2009. We already have a trip booked in Sept with a 40% off code so we didn't need it.

Also the Character palooza at the Animation Building on non-Fantasmic nights is no joke.

Between 5 and 6 pm we saw:

Tweedle Dee
Tweedle Dum
The penguin from Mary Poppins
Geppeto
Pinnochio
Pocahontas
Gov Ratcliff
Chip
Dale
Max
Minnie Mouse
Snow White
Jasmine

And the regulars
Mr and Mrs Incredible
Sorcerer Mickey
The 3 Up characters

So in little over an hour we got 18 characters NO JOKE!

GREAT trip report! I'm going to note several of your comments and put them in my file of "Great Things to Remember at WDW" (and then hope I don't misplace it between now and when we leave). Thanks again for the good information.

I was there last week too, and I agree with what you said about Toy Story Mania. I was there when the rope dropped, and it was a frenzy. After seeing a line just for the fastpasses, we took the standby line and waited 25 minutes.

What did you do when it rained? We left Magic Kingdom before Spectromagic one night as a typical summer storm grazed the park.

We have a lot in common. Just visited recently and saw/experienced much of the same. Returning in Sept for a more relaxed visit. Thanks for the report.
