Fatty McButter Pants' Food Reviews Part 1 (with pics) includes links to part 2,3, & 4
Hi! I am Fatty McButter Pants (35). My wife is Donna Double Chin (30). We have been to Walt Disney World 13 times over the last 10 years. We really began to appreciate the Food & Wine Festival in the year 2000. Here are our reviews for the 2008 festival items.
For parts 2, 3, and 4 of our review, use the links below. Part 2 - A Tale of Two Fatties http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2215240 Part 3 - The Great Fatsby http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2221063 Part 4 - Fatty McButter Pants and the Last (Food) Crusade (Conclusion) http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2228096 2008 Food and Wine Festival ![]() This is Maple Glazed Salmon with Roasted Corn and Arugula served at the Montreal, Canada booth. Fatty: I normally don't like salmon, but I found this to be absolutely fabulous! They fabulized that salmon so much that I needed TWO servings. If you have not tried it yet, it is a MUST (they have it every year). Donna Double Chin: I hate salmon so I wouldn't touch this. What a waste of $4.25. ![]() Spicy Beef Empanada served at the Santiago, Chile booth. Fatty: I liked it, but I didn't love it. When you say spicy beef, I expect it to burn on the way in and on the way out. This did neither. Donna Double Chin: It tasted like something out of the freezer section of a grocery store. ![]() Manti with Yogurt Sauce (thinly sliced beef with roasted potatoes covered in a yogurt sauce) served at the Istanbul, Turkey booth Fatty: This is the closest I have ever come to throwing up on a Food & Wine Festival item. The yogurt sauce was so tart I nearly tossed my cookies Donna Double Chin: Hey Fatty, a yogurt sauce is SUPPOSED to be tart. It was delectable! Fatty: Whatever, it was garbage ![]() ![]() Capirotada (Mexican bread pudding with white chocolate) served at Mexico City, Mexico Fatty: This is one of my favorite items we had at the festival this year. The serving was HUGE (just the way I like it) and it was YUMMO! I am beginning to drool just thinking about it. By the way, notice Monk and Curl pictured next to the bread pudding (top pic). Curl claims to have come up with the recipe for the bread pudding and demanded that he and friend Monk be photographed beside it. This is not the last you will see of these two. Donna Double Chin: I agree with Fatty's take on this one. He may not remember this, but we purchased 5 of these throughout our trip. It was bready, warm, sticky, and gooey goodness. Mmmmm. Just thinking about it makes me want to eat a few things. I'll eat anything that doesn't move!! ![]() New England Lobster Roll served at Boston Hops & Barley Market Fatty: I would do just about anything to have one of these again. It is more expensive than most festival items ($7), but you really shouldn't pass this one up. It tastes so good when it touches the lips! Donna Double Chin: I wouldn't know how this one tasted as Fatty had that down his gullet in the blink of an eye. I didn't feel like spending another $7 to try it. Maybe this year if Fatty doesn't get to it first. ![]() Boston Crab Cake with corn and barley salad served at the Boston Hops & Barley Market Fatty: This item has an unfair advantage. I am MADLY in love with crab cakes! I find then simply divine (heavenly almost). Not surprisingly, my favorite fabulous item and the Fodd & Wine Festival. I could eat about thirty of these (although my budget only allowed for 6). They don't call me Fatty McButter Pants for nothing! Donna Double Chin: I LOVE this item. With as many as we wolfed down, I am surprised they didn't have to roll us out of the World Showcase! It is a must eat! ![]() Creme Brulee Chocolat au Lait (milk chocolate creme brulee) served at the Lyon, France booth Fatty: This literally brought tears to my eyes. I must have looked silly to passers-by. Imagine a grown man sobbing while eating a creme brulee. I must have looked like an eating fool, but I didn't care. Let the world laugh! Donna Double Chin: Did I mention yet how much I love chocolate? Oh, who am I kidding, I love all food. Fatty is not the biggest fan of chocolate desserts, but even he scarfed this one down in 20 seconds flat! The chocolately goodness! ![]() Bay Scallops with baby greens and cranberry vinaigrette served at Wellington, New Zealand Fatty: I would prefer not to say what I thought of this item. Donna Double Chin: Fatty, are you saying you refuse to review this? You will not? Fatty: I prefer not. Irish Cheese Selection (Reserve Irish Cheddar, Dubliner and Ivernia Cheese) with Apple Chutney and Brown Bread served at the Cork, Ireland booth Fatty: This is one of the FEW items I didn't eat. I don't like cheese when it's not sitting on top of a thick, fat, greasy, juicy burger (or topping a greasy pizza). Listen to Double Chin describe the cheese. You better learn... Donna Double Chin: Let me start by stating that I LOVE cheese. When I saw this item was available, I screamed in delight! I also love bread, so I was excited to see it came with the brown bread. You think I would have cleaned my plate. Let's look at the after pic on this one and see how it fared... ![]() As you can see, it did not fare so well. The bread needed to be cut with a chainsaw. The cheeses smelled like Fatty's socks. Lastly, a bum who hasn't eaten in a week would refuse the chutney. How can an item of such stature fall so far from my lofty expectation? I love cheese. I felt the disappointment would be capable of throwing me into a deep depression. Oh, who am I kidding? I just moved on the the next booth to fill my fat face! Fatty's belly is beginning to rumble so we will need to finish this a little later. Please be sure to join us for part 2. For now, please enjoy Fatty's park photography. Thanks for reading! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Spookie1010; 07-14-2009 at 09:55 AM. |
