WOC from PPH?

Staying first time at PPH. Is there any way to see WOC from an overlook area outside the park, and is it worth it?

You're only going to be able to see it if you have a Park View level room. The pool is in the backside if the hotel with a view of a parking lot.

It depends what you mean by decent.

WOC was designed to be seen from Paradise Park (see "World of Color Superthread" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=37986447). It was not designed to be viewed from the GCH.

Seeing WOC from the GCH viewing platform will be sort of like watching a movie in a theater from the front row sitting to the far side. Will you be able to see it? Yes. Will you enjoy it? Not nearly as much as you would if you saw it from the proper location.

Not sure what you mean by worth it. If you have a chance to see WOC from the proper viewing location at DCA then seeing it from the PPH might be kind of fun. But it you will not experience the show the way it was meant to be experienced.

We rented a GCH villa for a week and watched World of Color almost every night from our rooms. The view from the room was awesome, so was the convenience of watching in our pajamas, avoiding the crowds, eating snacks and drinking while watching it.

However, the SHOW itself, watching in person in the crowds so close to the water was so much better. I'll always remember watching it up close. The waters took a 3-D feel, which is lost from the hotel room, and the water jets going up 200 feet in the air, and the feel of the water and heat from the flames is so much more impressive being right there.

Take the show up close at least once, then watch it from your room if you get a good room. The 4 and 5 year old girls were mesmerized every night watching from the hotel.

Paradise Pier rooms will see the water, and colors, but not the projections/illuminations on the water, as that is aimed towards the Grand Californian Hotel viewers.

i will be there for a conference, so I assume I'm not getting a park facing room, so will not be able to see it from the hotel. I am trying to see it another night but thought if it wasn't terrible looking at it from the hotel, if possible, that I would spend my first night doing that.

So the villas have good viewing? We will be in a villa! The first time I saw it I saw it up close from a great spot. But now I've got two young babies and staking out good spots and trying to keep everyone happy and entertained will be infinitely easier from our room or the guest viewing area.
