Thanks,
Just wondering how old your daughter is, or what her craft skills are? There is a wide variety of suggestions, so just wondering if you could narrow it down...

I saw a really cute idea in the current issue of Family Fun. You take 3 rocks and paint them to look like a "dad". The top one was the head, the middle was the shirt and the bottom was the pants. On the shirt they painted "My Dad ROCKS!". It's alot cuter if you see the picture in the magazine.

Every year since my ds (16) was a baby the dc put hand prints on a shirt for dh. Every year he expects it and would be bothered by not getting one.

As he gets new once he puts the old ones in large zip lock bags. He keeps them. He is always telling people that he can see the dc growing up through the shirts.

We have one stepping stones in the past with handprints. This year we are doing a picture where each child is holding a wooden letter (one 'D' one 'A' and one 'D') and then I am putting them in a 3-slot picture frame to spell DAD.

My dd is 5 years old.

I haven't seen the handprint t-shirts in the stores this year.

We make lots of hand print stuff too-

I have put them in cards.

I have a big clay flower pot that I had the kids paint inside & out & all over about 3 years ago. I then put their hand prints on it.

I had the kids paint a mug at a pottery place & we stamped their feet on it.

We have made stepping stones with hand prints, etc...

I would second a stepping stone - you can buy the concrete at a home center, and get a disposable plant tray (that you put under a pot so it won't drop all over). Use the large size (10"), mix up the concrete and put dd's handprint in it just as it's beginning to harden. She can also decorate it with stones, shells, sea glass, etc. Takes about 24 hours to dry, let dry 48 hrs or more before using.

I've done picture frames with the kids: get a wooden frame, let her either mod podge tissue paper on to it, or paint it herself. Let dry and put a photo of her in it.

decoupage on a small box, insert a note saying "I filled this box with hugs for you, Daddy!" Can be used later for change, etc.

Do you have a Michaels near you? Tomorrow (sunday, June 14) from 1-3 you can buy a shirt for $2.50 and decorate it in the store with their paints. I am taking DS to do one. He's 4 1/2. I am thinking either "Best Dad - Hands Down" with handprints. Or "My Son Walks All Over Me" with feetprints.

This is what my daughter and I did for Father's Day. She's almost 4 years old and helped paint, pick out the colors and embellishments and placed them on.

I started with wooden letters, painted them, added paper, mod-podged, made a photo sleeve and added the embellishments.

One of my favorite and simple ideas is to get a light switch plate. (cover) then pick out bright fun paints and have the child put their finger prints all over it. After it dries have them (you could do it too) write Daddy or Grandpa you light up my life at the top and then sign it at the bottom.

The switch plates are easily removable and cost less than 50 cents a piece. We have them in our office and in our playroom. They always seem to make me smile.

Absolutely! Have fun.

This was my first time trying to do this and I think it turned out well. I'll do it again with my new baby's initials to hang on her door.

FYI -- it took me about 3-4 coats of paint and modpodge for each letter, so you have to plan some time for it to dry (and then of course to hide it from Daddy in between drying!)

I made the photo sleeve out of a ziploc bag. The goal being that we can update the photo over the years.

Don't forget to post a picture!
