We've stayed at the ASM and it is really nice for kids. The large characters are so cool- make sure to take pics by them. It is a really nice resort for young children. Last time we went in Aug. (and are planning this this Aug. too) it was hot but there are plenty of stores to go into and many of the rides you have to wait in line indoors so it wasn't that bad. Hope you have a great time!!!!

We always go the last week of August. We love it, you best get the little one a sun hat and use lots of sunscreen for everyone. Rain isn't a real problem. Mostly in the late afternoon there may be a cloud burst.

Drink lots of water.

I wear a wide brim fishing hat and sunglasses. We prefer umbrellas over rain wear because it's easier to use plus it's great portable shade. The four year old may enjoy a Disney rain poncho, just a heads up but if it rips they'll replace it for free.

Have a great trip

We're going Aug 18

We've been to ASMo twice... once in August

I think the resort is great for families, especially those with kids that would appreciate the elaborate theming. It's nothing fancy, but it's definitely Disney. The rooms are very small, so be prepared for the shock, but by the end of your stay it will seem a lot bigger. Also, don't stress out about the room location. ASMo is relatively small and it's a short walk to the pools/main building from any room.

As for August, just be prepared to handle the heat and keep some alternate plans in the back of your mind just in case of inclement weather (ie. hurricane). Have a great trip!

Is it as bad as some people say it is? Yep! It is the most run down resort on property.

We have stayed there three times because of the theme and we have always enjoyed it. It doesn't have huge, elaborate rooms but who cares? You are there to see the parks! There is so much to see and do that very little (awake) time is spent at whichever resort you choose to stay at. However, it is hot, hot, hot, so be prepared to take a break mid-day. When my son was young, we would go back to the room and take a nap in the air conditioning and then head back out to the parks later. Have fun! I miss going with a little one!

Um ... No?!

You make it seem like a slum, which it is not.

Disney is constantly painting and cleaning to keep it in tip-top shape.

I agree, we stayed there last Fall and it is fine. We stayed in ASMu in Sept 07 and ASMo in Oct 08 and I did compare the two. While ASMu seemed brighter ASMo was fine. It was clean and the staff was wonderful. I would go and enjoy.

Gee..........Thanks! Yes, they are constantly painting, etc. however the inside of the rooms need it more than the outside of the resort. If you think it's great, more power to ya' Me, I won't be staying there again.

We stayed there in March with our boys, ages 2 and 4, and we liked it...dont get me wrong..it was nothing overly fancy, but we knew this going in and had realistic expectations, and we had a very pleasant stay. The kids loved the theme, the staff was helpful and the food court did its job when we needed a quick bite. We would stay here again definitely!

Talking

We stayed there in 2006. The first room we were given was in bad need of a paint job. I asked to be moved and was put in a great room in Toy Story. We had a great time and loved the themeing at the resort. If you're not happy with the room you are given ask to be moved. I'm sure you will have a great stay.

We've stayed there twice Aug. 2001 and Aug. 2008. We love the resort! The rooms are starting to show some wear and tear but unless you go looking for problems, you will be fine. The grounds are as well kept as the rest of the resorts, the pool area has been refurbed in the past couple years and the food court has a great selection. Also, we encountered nothing but great CM's on both our trips there. Also, with multiple stays at Movies, Sports, Music, POR, Boardwalk and Beach Club, I can honestly say our best mousekeepers, hands down, were at Movies! Have a great time, your DD will love it!

If you live to be a 100, I hope to live to be 100 minus 1 day. So I never have to live without you.

I don't usually go on many vacations, or make a habit of staying at super pricey hotels, so ASMO was wonderful to me when we went in 2005. my daughter LOVED LOVED LOVED it as well! I know expensive as **** hotels and I LOVE them when I do go, but I loved ASMO just as much.. probably because we were in Disney.
It was clean, and super cute themed for the kids! Every turn I took , I was smiling! It was bright and larger than life! I've had really bad experiences at both cheapy, and pricey hotels, so i try not to judge a place on one bad stay. Only prob I could see is if you want lots of space. they are not huge, but def aren't ridiculously small either!

i think no matter where you stay in DISNEY (wooot) you will love it!

I doubt young children would notice or care if it needs repainting. They will be enthralled with all the ginormous Disney character theming.
