Airtran - December trip, is it too early to book?

I just found a great deal on Airtran for our trip in December 2009. But I usually fly Southwest so I'm a bit nervous about booking Airtran so early. Anyone have any advice? Is it too early to book or should I go ahead and gobble up this good deal?

I'd snap it up! We love Airtran! Anxiously awaiting January release dates!

I saw a good Airtran deal six months before our end of Sept. trip and booked it. I have not seen anything better since. If you like the deal, book it and don't look back.

I agree with the other posters, if its a good deal book it. Just keep in mind that Airtran does make alot of changes to their flight schedules after they've been posted.
So once you've booked I'd check periodically to see if your flight is still the same.

Just remember that you do have a $15 bag fee including you 1st bag on Airtran, and they no longer credit your account if the fare decreases, there is a $75 fee for any change.

Just keep in mind that your flight times could change several times between now and then. Last June, when I saw an awesome price, (same as you) I booked Airtran for our Christmas trip. Well, over the next month and half both our flight to Orlando and our flight home were changed several times. And not by a few minutes, either. Our flight home was changed from 8 am to 2:45pm, then changed a few weeks later to 6 pm. Our flight to FL was changed from 9:15 am to 7:05 am. Then, they got rid of our flight altogether and there were no other nonstops scheduled to MCO that day. A layover was not acceptable (nor did I book a layover; I booked nonstops both ways), so I called and got a full refund. I promptly rebooked with Jetblue. And I will never even consider Airtran again. I know people report other airlines changing their schedules, too, but we have never experienced it with either Jetblue or SW.
