Welcome to the 2nd annual Indianapolis Labor Day Weekend DIS Meet Thread

Hi Everyone,

My name is Aaron from Fishers, IN. I'm a huge Disney Parks fan who loves everything about Disney World.

Last Labor Day weekend 2008 we held our first annual Indianapolis DIS meet. Approximately 80 Disney fans attended from as far as Northeast Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Chicago, IL, and all over Indiana.

The intent of the meet is to get to know other Disney enthusiasts like us and have some fun and laughs along the way. Like last year there will be no cost to attend this meet. We just ask that you bring a pitch-in item for the food table.

This meet is open to anyone willing to drive or even fly to the Indianapolis area. We'd love to have you join us. I'm hopeful to have several Hoosiers and other friends from other states join us in the Indianapolis area. If enough out-of-town guests join us we may have additional activities on the Sunday following the meet.

Please see below for meet information and details. Check this thread often for future details. We are planning an afternoon worth of fun Disney activities for kids and adults alike, prize drawings, contests and even some secret fun! We'll have more specific information the closer we get to Labor Day weekend.

Between now and Labor Day weekend I'll be updating this thread with meet information and attendees who will be joining us at the meet. Please post if you can attend the meet, how many guests will be joining your party including children and their ages. Even if you can't attend please post just to say hi!

Give Kids the World Village of Central Florida
The DIS is a contributor to Give Kids the World Village of Central Florida. We will be conducting a few activities during the meet where the proceeds will go to benefit this wonderful charity on behalf of the DIS.

Pin Trading Activities
Please feel free to bring your Disney pins for pin trading opportunities. There will be a table setup for pin displaying and trading during the meet. Whether you are a casual or serious pin trader feel free to share and trade them with your fellow Disney enthusiasts.

Prizes
Like last year prizes will be awarded at the top of each hour. You must be present to win.

Group Dinner at Dave & Busters
The evening of Friday, Sept. 4th we will be holding a group dinner at Dave & Busters on the northeast side of Indianapolis. Dave & Busters has a large restaurant, bar, and arcade for adults and children. The dinner will start at 7:30PM and will go until whenever. If you need to arrive late that is ok; however, we will start the dinner at 7:30PM. I will make a reservation for 20 and if we get more interest I'll increase the reservation number. Please post if you plan on attending this dinner and I'll start a list so I know how many are coming.

As of right now we are coming! DH, 2DS 6 and 9.

Last year my job interfered, I am incredibly busy that time of year - but as of right now I am unemployed due to budget cuts for next year so count me in! Could this be the bright side to not having a job?!

I will let you know what we will bring as of right now I am thinking of this yummy carmel brownie dessert.

We planned a picnic for school this year and had everyone bring their own drinks, plates and utensils. It cut down on cost/less planning for us too...just throwing that out there for you.

I hope you can make it! Yes, they will be there again. They enjoyed it so much last year they can't wait for it again. I'll tell them you are probably coming. They will be delighted to hear it.

We had lunch with Cocowum and Launchpad11B in the Palo on PCC 1.0. We will be driving from Birmingham, AL to Minneapolis in our motorhome during that week. We have to be in Minneapolis on the morning of the 9th for a Navy Reunion and are planning to stop in Indianapolis for the DIS meet on the 5th.

Question --- can we park our motorhome on the fairgrounds for 2 nights, 4th and 5th? We are fully self-contained so we don't require any facilities except a level and secure location.

Hi Darrel,
I'm so glad you can make it! There is an outside chance Paul, Alicia, and Jen maybe able to come to the meet. We'll see.

As far as the motorhome I'll ask for you. I'm going to the fairgrounds this Friday so I'll ask for you and see what they say. I'm going to guess it may not be ok, but I will ask and let you know.

Looking forward to seeing you guys. I don't think we met on the cruise. I apologize, but I'm sure we will meet in Indy in September.
