Oh all those sugar morning rushes you've been missing out on. Jedi (DS6) is having some this morning. It's a weekend/cottage thing in our family to be able to consume sugar cereal in the morning.

Here's some pictures of what the cereal looks like and the box it comes in.

Friday April 24, 2009 Arriving on property!

“How can you be hungry after that huge breakfast you just ate?” I quizzed Dh.

“Well, it was a couple of hours ago”

“No, you were still at the table two hours ago. Here eat this banana.” I tossed it towards him.

As he peels the banana we see the golden arches looming in the distance.

“How about we go through the drive-thru at McDonalds and I’ll just pick up a little something to tie me over?” Dh suggests sweetly.

Argh!

I turn into the drive-thru as he thanks me.

It will be eight hours until our first ADR and I suppose stopping at Mickey D’s is cheaper than whatever we would pick up at the airport.

Dh gets a McSkillet Burito and I get a Bacon and Egg Biscuit. This is a treat for me, as we don’t have biscuits in our McD’s in Canada. Just the breakfast sandwiches using English muffins. I pretend to be annoyed with Dh for causing us a delay but really I enjoyed my biscuit immensely.

Shh! Don’t tell him.

We found our way to the Buffalo airport without any further delays. We almost stopped for gas but decided to wait until our return to do that. I was getting anxious about getting there. We parked in Long Term parking Lot A. It was pretty busy. We had to drive around to find a spot. A shuttle pulled right up as we exited the Van. I waved them away as I still had sort our new purchases and stow them under the seats in our stow and go compartments.

While I was sorting another shuttle drove by. The driver waited for us, as he was empty anyway. Before we left I took a picture of Cindy’s (DD8) penguin. She wanted us to take the penguin with us to Disney and although I had thoughts of writing a trip report with pictures of the penguin all over epcot in the end we decided to put penguin in charge of the van. She stayed in the front window and kept watch.

Checking in took longer than I expected. I had neglected to notice (until last night) that my last name was spelt wrong for my flights. It was missing a letter. Just one. We had to wait for the agent to rectify it.

We crossed the security gate with over an hour to kill before our flight left. Dh made some business calls while I chilled out. Here I am chilling.

At one point I tried to call home to check in with the kids. It was a P.D. day so my kids had it off, but there was no answer and since I remembered I hadn’t left my parents directions on how to retrieve messages I just hung up. I learnt later they were at the Toy store. Poor kids getting dragged out shopping with their grandparents. Each of them got a new Webkinz as well as a few other things.

Our flight took off on time. I love Jetblue’s individual Television sets.

I watched Law and Order Criminal Intent. I am a fan of all the Law and Order series. Years ago when we first married we used to watch the old episodes that came on at 11 pm. If justice was served I could get to sleep but if the bad guy got away I was up for hours. Dh finally put a stop to it and we started watching old “Friends” reruns instead.

I also watched “Making the Grade”. At least I think that was what it was called. It’s about a bunch of kids in an Arts High School like Fame. It kept reminding me of my Eeoyre (DS10). He’s going to a month long try out for Canada’s National Ballet School this July. It’s a full time school, which includes professional Dance Training from grade 6 to grade 12. The school officially calls the four weeks in the summer a “camp” but I’m more inclined to call a spade a spade. He went last year too. It was their preview of him. He was too young to start their school but they make room to take a “peak” at what is coming up for them. I know I mentioned this on last year’s trip report too.

The good news is that the Ballet School invited back for this year so that means they want him. The bad news is that this means the school wants him. Which opens up a whole new can of fish. I want him too. I like him. I’d miss him and miss out on so much of his life if he left to go live in Toronto with my parents. It’s hard to deny him this chance as well. Dh and I have much different feelings on the subject. He said even when I was pregnant with the kids that no matter how good they were at Hockey, (yes, and more Canadian references. Sorry!) That the kids were not going to be farmed out to other families just to follow teams around. They were going to live at home and if we had to we would drive a bit farther to get them the best Hockey coaching around but no child of his was going to leave our home until college or University.

Anyhow, all these parenting thoughts were going through my mind on our flight to Disney. I didn’t talk much to Dh.

There was a moment at the beginning of the flight when the flight crew asked who was going to Disney and we all cheered. The Disney excitement bubble came floating to the surface and I squeezed Dh’s hand. But it didn’t last long. The call of the individual television screens was too strong to ignore.

Before long Dh was off in his own world watching who knows what on his TV. Probably sports. Maybe even highlights of a minor hockey game filled with boys that have left their parents houses to live elsewhere and pursue their dream. *Ahem*

We had an all male crew on our Jetblue flight. Not that it was a big a plane but still you don’t see that happening much. Although I didn’t notice what Dh was watching on his screen I did make time to watch the in-flight crew do their job. I may be married but I can still appreciate the scenery.

The flight was pretty smooth. I did partake in some of Jetblue’s famous blue chips. Here is my first “Foodie” porn for you.

We had a smooth landing and we took off to pick up our luggage at the baggage claim. I feel safer picking up our luggage. We didn’t have a lot of time to waste today and getting our own luggage might have slowed us down a bit but I still think it was worth it.

We made our way to the magic express counter. Why oh why is it so far away? And why don’t they have better signage for it?

On our way through the airport I started to notice the cheerleading squads. Dh says he didn’t notice. I’m not sure how he could mistake the team jackets and bags but he maintains that he only has eyes for me. Sweet. I guess after all this time he knows not to acknowledge noticing anyone else but me. I’m sure he looks (as I just confessed to earlier) but we don’t share it with each other.

There was a really long lineup at the desk. It was outside of the queue. I waited in it and Dh, well; again I don’t know what he did. At one point he was on the floor doing hamstring stretches. See.

Here is a closer picture of him. You can see our luggage beside him. I love my red and white polka dot bag. I had picked it up just for this trip.

The rest of the time he was probably NOT noticing the cheerleading groups.

I did help a few people in line. I tried not to listen in on any conversations but there were a few newbies with totally misguided information. I couldn’t help myself. Things like saying “Fantasmic” was at MK, and that only people staying at Disney resorts could get fastpasses. Usually I ignore these off the wall sort of stuff thinking that the longer these people who don’t bother researching before they arrive stand around in the park staring at the maps trying to figure out what to do next means more time I have on the rides but I was feeling generous. And it was a long line with lots of cheerleading captains registering their entire squads.

Boy was I glad I wasn’t staying at POP anymore. There wasn’t one cheerleading team at AKL. I was happy to note that the magic express put the whole team on a different bus after they were checked in. So I knew I wasn’t even going to put on a bus with them (Yeah). The teams actually lined up to the side of the carpet and seemed to take a back entrance out to their bus. Once again I was surprised by Disney’s or in this case Mear’s efficiency in handling the large groups.

Finally I made it up to the front.

I got my first “Happy Birthday” from the CM at the desk. We were directed to the red carpet. I almost lost Dh on the way to the carpet from the desk. Which is funny if you know how small an area that is. You see, Dh who was NOT noticing the cheer teams heard me say, “We’re up. Let’s go” and just followed along behind a team heading out the side door to a bus.

He snapped out of it and rejoined me. He took this picture of me crossing the red carpet.

I turned the camera off and we found the AKL line. Now I always guessed that Disney was quicker with the deluxe resort bus loading. I’ve waited in line for 20 minutes or so in both a value and a moderate but made note that the Deluxe resorts never seemed to have a backlog.

Well, I didn’t even have time to turn my camera back on to take Dh’s picture with the signage before a CM was motioning us to load a bus. We made them wait until I finished taking the picture though. I figured I needed it for this trip report.

Here's the picture.

We followed the CM out to the bus and I was disappointed to see that it was just a plain Mear’s coach and not a Disney express vehicle. I was looking forward to the video. Instead we listened to heavy metal on the radio. Somehow listening to AC/DC and whitesnake just doesn’t scream I’m on my way to Disney. It just seemed so wrong.

I tried to cheer myself up though. After all the sun was shinning, all our luggage had made it, it was my birthday and we were on our last leg of our journey to WDW! Woo Hoo!

Here is the official sign as we entered Mickey’s country.

I was getting pretty pumped up by this time. Once again, I grabbed Dh’s hand and felt those familiar Disney excitement bubbles coursing through my veins. My eyes teared up it was hard to focus to take the AKL sign.

Up next, we check in. My actual birthday dinner-Where did I choose to spend it? Click here to read on. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=138

Can't wait to hear all about your trip! I miss WDW too! Thinking of going to the Great Wolf Lodge this summer but it is so NOT the same that it's depressing. Sigh.

Ha Ha. I knew it!

Hope you had a good trip. Are you going to share it with us? I need a link if you are. I'm trying to cut down on my Dis time (report cards, and I'm taking a course) so I am not allowing myself to go to the main boards and look.

I'm caught up! Yay!

I am so happy that you made it to Target.

I have a sudden urge to fly Jet Blue, the tvs and the blue chips are very enticing.

What a bummer that you didn't get a real Disney bus with no video!

Here's another hint. I celebrated on Disney Property. in a sit down restaurant. No counter service for my 40th B-day.

We did go to Boma (I'm not an adventerous eater so Jiko didn't appeal to me).

I'll put you down for MK as your guess.

I have checked out your Lazy Lady mini mini TR!

I was meaning to post my blue chips pic on your trippie but photobucket and I are apparently not speaking.

If I wasn't in such a rush for my ADR I might have said I'll wait for the next real bus.

LOVE Jetblue!

Deluxe resort lines DO move faster. On my first trip w/ Joe to WDW (his first ever) they didn't play the video! BUMMER...totally didn't get me psyched for the week I had spent months planning for! Second go around, we got it though!

So lucky! AKL!
