I'm back in the world of DIS!! The real world called me for a while, but I couldn't stay away anymore. Great updates Peter. I am sorry that your lunch was a scene from "Attack of the hungry Canadian seagulls!" I told you those rats with wings are a menace! I have to agree with Tinkershell on the MS ride. I didn't like it the first time I went on it, and haven't been back since. I will, however, try the "wimpy" green side in November. Did Tinkershell like the green side?

Welcome back from reality. Yup...Tinkershell was A-ok after riding the green side...except we needled her a little bit.

You know, if you could sneak a bottle of round-up into AK and thin the plant life out...I bet you would be able to find Devine much easier. Cause you know that stuff kills just about everything.

This comment's even more funny when you read TK Brown's location, lol.

How about a truffle-sniffing pig to hunt Devine out?

Pal Mickey sure complains a lot. For all you've done for him, especially reuinte him with his home land, you'd think he'd be more appreciative.
Haha, great update! Can't wait for more Epcot.

where our where is chapter 27?
I spent time last night and early today reading this entire thread.
Peter, might I add that with your wit, you would make a fabulous stand up comedian. Your report is abosulutely hysterical
(in a good way ) and I cannot wait for your next installment.
BTW I've been to WDW during several different times of the year, and Dec is by far, my favorite too.

Chpt 27 - Dinner at Germany

After MS, it took Pal Mickey awhile to rearrange his fluff....because he kept cramming a bunch of it into his biceps and pecs until he looked like a furry little Governor Schwarzenegger. The worst part was... every 30 seconds... he would flex his arms and ask me if I had gotten my tickets to the gun show....in a really bad Austrian accent. Finally, I had enough of his shenanigans....or tom foolery if you prefer...and I insisted that he change himself back to his natural Walt-given proportions....because his act was getting old quick.

Eventually, we headed back over to Universe of Energy to see if Ellen had ever decided to show up for work. UoE hadnít always been an Ellen attraction..and even though Iím normally a staunch opponent of change...I must admit that she really livened up the joint. On the other hand...that department store manikin Ellen that they stuck in with the dinosaurs was just plain creepy. Really not Disneyís best work there. The best part came at the end of the ride when Ellen beat that smug Jamie Lee Curtis in final Jeopardy...... because I was very disappointed with her surly attitude...and she had seemed so nice in Freaky Friday. Anyway, the ride was like 45 minutes long...and Pal Mickey was pretty uncomfortable through most of it. Don't blame me....I warned him not to have that double mint mocha frappuccino right before we went....but he told me to talk to the little plush hand. Thankfully, he was still sportiní his pull-ups from TT.

It was getting to be about time to head for our ADR at Biergarten. We had decided to take the boat across World Showcase Lagoon over to Germany...so we needed to start heading over to the boat docks at Showcase Plaza. Obviously...we hadnít told Pal Mickey about any of this...because of his unreasonable fear of water.

As soon as Pal Mickey caught sight of the boat...he tried to make a break for it. Luckily, his legs are only two inches long and we were able to quickly chase him down. Pal Mickeyís not really built for speed....but if you let him get a head start....heís like the energizer bunny...except without the energizer batteries...because Iím a cheapskate. Iíve got a guy....a battery guy..and I buy them by the gross. Theyíre not name brand...but they do the trick...most of the time. Sure...every once and awhile he'll get a bad battery and end up with a limp or a lazy eye....but that's a chance I'm willing to take.

Biergarten is my most favorite-ist restaurant at WDW. Iím not sure why...because Iím not even German. Tinkershell is part German though....and maybe itís contagious. Also...I have some grainy photos of myself when I was about three years old and my Mom used to dress me up in lederhosen...so maybe it was destiny. By the way...Iím not joking. My Mom actually used to dress me up in lederhosen...and later...she switched to plaid bell-bottoms. I donít remember getting beat up a lot as a toddler...but you do the math.

Anyway, my love for this place may have something to do with the ginormous beers they serve....because Iíd swear Pal Mickey would fit right inside one of those big steins. I would have been able to tell you for certain.... but Tinkershell intervened just as I was dangling Pal Mickey by his ankle over my Franzikaner Weissbier. Some people have no appreciation for scientific research. Besides...last time I checked... Pal Mickey had an unreasonable fear of water...not beer..

We had eaten at Biergarten before but never at Christmas time. Let me tell ya....Biergarten does it up right for Christmas. The Bavarian band even sang Silent Night in German. Tinkershell knew all the words because her Dad used to sing it to her when she was a kid. The kids even knew a little bit of it. Me...I was too busy inhaling Black Forest Cake to be singing in any language....let alone German. The family we were sharing our table with had a four year old daughter named Hannah...and she thought DD Woobie was the greatest thing since sliced bread..or since we were in Germany...sliced pumpernickel. They even exchanged addresses and wrote to each other after the trip.

We finished up the night with Illuminations....which we watched from the German waterfront...because I had eaten too much Black Forest Cake and was in no condition to travel. Illuminations has a special place in my heart because..during our first family vacation at WDW...DD Woobie and I used to go out almost every night and watch the Illuminations fireworks from the Carribean Beach Resort parking lot...just the two of us.

Next up: Chpt 28 - Tomorrow we're sleeping in

Thanks. Pal Mickey used to get a little grouchy when he got tired...which was often because he had tiny legs.

YAY! Another update.
I think I may have to take our Pal Mickey this trip. I don't remember him being so much fun. But, we did have an infant to lug around then.
I agree with pp, I believe you would be good at stand up.

I admit that I found this TR late -- but I guess I should be pretty happy about that....with pages and pages of people griping about how slowly you update. The only bummer about joining a party at the 11th hour is when you try to bring something up that happened earlier, everyone sort of rolls their eyes at you and says, "Oh that was so twelve pages ago." So I won't bore you and your loyal readers about how much I enjoyed your observations on seagulls on page 7, for example.

I love a good TR. Problem is, I really haven't found any good TRs in awhile. And then two days ago some catchy TR title about Pal Mickey's ultimate demise got my attention, and suddenly I was in love again.

Seriously, this is one of the funniest TRs I've ever read. Usually I give up on them about 5 pages in, but lucky you, I'm on page 16 and still reading. In fact, I'm going to become one of those other posters who say, "I'm ready for another update already...what is taking so dang long?" So be prepared. I've already hit the "Subscribe to the thread" link. THAT'S how much I'm enjoying it.

I do have one question though...strangely enough I say "Long story short --too late" a lot. My question isn't "are you my long-lost brother?" But rather, "Where the heck is that quote from?" I've been saying it for years but I cannot remember for the life of me where I got it.

Love, love LOVE your brilliant prose. I sincerely hope this TR goes on forever. Funny stuff, dude. Funny stuff.

ETA: We too have taken several trips with our Pal Mickey, and both of my TRs are chock-full of the little guy. He's worth writing about, for sure. Well, he was worth writing about BEFORE children since he was all we had. Mine had surgery in the middle of vacation, but he came out of it okay. I shudder to read about what happens to yours.

Okay, I'll shut up now.

[QUOTE=Peter Panic Attack;32229571]Chpt 23 - Who's up for 30-40 chapters about a single day at Epcot?
So with coffee in hand...we settled into line to pick up some beignets. Ok....hereís the problem. Tinkershell didnít know how to pronounce beignets. Now...I should also mention that sometimes Tinkershell has a hard time remembering that she needs to use her inside voice. So..we were standing in line..and she was proclaiming to the entire building..how excited she was to try one of those ďbag-netsĒ. Mmmmm....can you smell the bag-nets? How many bag-nets do you get? Do you think the kids would like some bag-nets? Finally....a good Samaritan in line behind us...who probably just couldnít bear to watch the mounting carnage of chronic mispronunciation mixed with public humiliation....leaned in and whispered they were called ďbin-yaysĒ.

That is the funniest thing ever !!! I was laughing like a crazy lady while reading that !

When we stayed at POFQ in 2005 I had to try the beignets also, but I guess I kept saying it wrong, because some man in line had to correct my pronounciation !!! those people take their "bag-nets" seriously !

Anyways, thanks for all the entertainment !!!

So I'm about 2 months late joining in here, but oh well, I'm here now and everyone can relax. I'm thoroughly enjoying this trip report. I just happened to stumble upon it 3 hours ago and haven't left my laptop since. I was laughing out loud at one point...something about the "giraffes go bleet" - wasn't there a Sesame Street episode that acknowledged the fact that giraffes don't make a noise? Something about Kermit having to make all the animal sounds. Or maybe it was Elmo? Or maybe it wasn't even Sesame Street. Or maybe it is all made up in my mind. My 19-year-old brain doesn't remember back that far.

And we call them BIG-nets out here in California. With a surfer accent if you wish. You can make them into a dirty word not appropriate to say aloud on here by changing the vowel in one of the words that is not "big"...if you get my drift.

This is one of the best trip reports I've ever read! It's hard to find a good laugh-out-loud-trip report these days. Keep 'em coming!
