How often does Southwest update its prices?

Im watching for decent fares for May 16th ( leaving Chicago ) and May 23rd ( leaving Orlando ). At one point the fares were at $83 each way, now they are at $119 today. Is there a chance that they will go back down or once they go up they don't go back down again?

In my experience.. all the time. I would not only check every day, but check several times a day. Sometimes they will stay the same for a week or two and then start changing again.
I ended up with a 400 credit from our trip last year by watching the flights.
Also I noticed they tend to go down in the middle of the week and back up to higher prices on the weekends.

Hi. I've been watching Southwest too, and I think it's very possible that the fare will drop again. They seem to change alot, but not sure if there are certain days or times that are best to find the lowest. You can download "Ding" and get instant alerts when fares drop, which is what I did, and I get alerts a few times a week. Also, I see on the DIS, that Southwest is very good about giving you a credit if the fare does go down, so don't wait too long, because you could always do that!

Love SWA

Southwest prices are based on demand. Sometime it matters how many people people you are booking. Last summer we book 4 total itineraries (2 down & 2 back) If I priced 4 it was one price and if I booked 2 it was another price. Always book your flight one way. If one leg of your flight goes down but the other doesn't you can change just that leg. When I get home tonight I hope the price for my May trip is still down so I can rebook. All you have to do when you rebook it Click on the change itinerary on the SWA home page and follow the instructions.

I've seen prices change daily, more than once per day.

When we were pricing tickets for both our Vegas trip and Ft. Lauderdale trips last year, I checked their website three or four times a day for price drops.

If you purchase through SWA and the rates go down they will give you a credit for use on a future SWA flight or sometimes they will credit your credit card if your "ticket class" doesn't change. I have had it both ways. It is no problem.

If you're looking for cheap fares you can go thru Airtran(who are in a bidding war with Southwest). I looked up your days and you can get to Disney for %366.40( assuming its a two person trip). They have $83 flights on those days.

I have been watching airtran but I noticed that now they charge $15 for your first bag which ups the cost compared to Southwest.

Just booked our air in June for $86 each way!!!!!

Keep checking, I have found that the best airfares are posted early on the week, on Mon afternoons and Tues, stay away from booking on Fri-Sun as these days are SWA's busy days and they like most airlines charge more for flying on those days and the web usually reflects that, also signup on the SWA website for email specials!!

KEEP WATCHING AND GOOD LUCK!!!
