Oh yes, you have to take your dogs to a beach some time - they just naturally love the water and the open space to run
Wow, now that is a neat little tid bit right there! So cool the things that are in nature. Too bad my DH isn't an outdoorsy kinda guy. Maybe one of these days I'll get him into camping and going to places like that.

Well we're overflowing with nature around here, but I'm sure you've got lots of cool scenery around you too! If he's not much of an outdoorsy guy you can break him in gently by staying at a state park in a yurt. They are very cool and fun to stay in - no worries about setting up a tent or any of that and they have electricity and everything. And the state parks have showers and real bathrooms ...heck, the one we're staying at has wifi and cable so we're not "roughing it" by any means

This may be a dumb question but what is a "yurt"? I've never heard of that before I've asked him if he would stay in a 5th wheel with friends of ours but he didn't even want to do that. He's a party pooper. Not that I'm complaining (much) but he only ever wants to go to Disney. I took him when he was 21 and I haven't been able to get him to go anywhere else since then.

Well it may be a west coast thing, but a yurt is a ...aw, never mind - easier to show a pic of one:

Basically a semi-permanent tent with built in beds and a little table and such.

And I guess if Disney is the only place he wants to go you're probably not too heartbroken

Chapter 8 - One Month to Go!!!

Okay y'all. A couple of things to report finally. One big one is that OUR TRIP IS PAID OFF! YAY!!!!

Also, most of our costume stuff has shipped for the Mickey's Trick or Treat Party.

And lastly, as of today we're ONE MONTH OUT!!!!!

And of course in my overplanning wonderment I've updated our itinerary since I now have the October events calendar from DLR. I have confirmed that there will be nightly Halloween fireworks, although they are not yet posted on the events calendar.

UPDATED ITINERARY

Day 0 - Sunday, October 11th, 2009 - Packing Day

- Get everything together during the day and load up the rig that evening

Day 1 - Monday, October 12th, 2009 - Travel Day/Disneyland (park hours 8am - 11pm)

- Get up and stumble into the rig
- Leave for the airport at 5:30am
- Breakfast at airport - flight leaves at 7am - 2hr flight to LAX
- 1hr shuttle to DLR - get to resort around 10:30am
- Drop off bags at reception at DLR
- Early lunch at Rainforest Café - 11am
- Head in to Disneyland and just go where we feel like
- 3pm - leave the family in DL and go check in and get bags to room
- Make a run to Food 4 Less for breakfast stuff
- fam can do Jedi Training Academy at 3:30pm
- Catch back up with fam in DL
- Dinner at Blue Bayou - 5:30pm
- Watch Celebrate! A Street Party (6:30pm) if it works out
- Maybe hit a couple of rides
- Fantasmic! at 9pm

Day 2 - Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 - California Adventure (park hours 10am - 6pm)

- Breakfast in room
- Stroll in around opening time
- Check out where/when for characters
- Ride Soarin'
- Hit Toy Story Mania before it gets too crowded (get FPs right away so we can ride it several times)
- Finally get to ride California Screamin'!!!
- Do midway stuff and grab a counter service lunch
- Hit the Redwood Creek Challenge to work off lunch
- Hit the Grizzly River Run to cool off from RCC
- Back to the hotel to rest/hit the pool
- Come back and go straight to ToT (I'm assuming Bean will want to ride it at least 8 times to match her WDW record)
- See Disney's Aladdin
- Check out Monsters Inc. ride
- Might do Turtle Talk and Muppet Vision - up to the kids
- Ride Soarin' one more time
- Pixar Play Parade at 5:15pm
- Last minute rides before the park closes
- Dinner in our room or maybe McD's just outside the entrance

Day 3 - Wednesday, October 14th, 2009 - Disneyland (park hours 9am - 9pm)

- Breakfast in room
- Walk from hotel through DTD to DL main gate - try to be there for Main Street opening
- Check times for characters (everything below subject to change depending on where they are and when)
- Avoid the initial crowds by going towards Adventureland instead of Fantasyland or Tomorrowland
- Jungle Cruise
- PoTC a couple of times
- Indiana Jones Adventure
- Haunted Mansion a couple of times
- Splash Mountain
- Lunch at Stage Door Café
- Ride the Riverboat to let food settle
- BTMRR
- Back to hotel to kick back/hit the pool
- Come back and ride the train to the Toontown stop
- Stroll straight through to hit the classics in Fantasyland
- Maybe catch the Flag Retreat at 4:45pm in the Town Square
- Jump back on the train and do a full loop, ending in Tomorrowland
- Stroll to the monorail and ride it back to DTD and DLH
- PS for Goofy's Kitchen at 5:30pm
- have a relaxing evening

Day 4 - Thursday, October 15th, 2009 - California Adventure (park hours 10am - 5pm - plus MToTP)

- Breakfast in room
- Basically a general hit whatever we want to ride again morning
- More ToT, TSM, and California Screamin' specifically
- Everything in between
- Lunch wherever is convenient
- More rides
- Back to the hotel to rest/hit the pool
- Get ready for party
- Mickey's Trick or Treat Party - 6:30pm - 10:30pm

Day 5 - Friday, October 16th, 2009 - Disneyland (park hours 8am - Midnight)

- Breakfast in room
- Early entry to Toontown if we have the energy
- Roll over to Tomorrowland
- Finding Nemo before it gets crowded
- Space Mountain
- Buzz
- Star Tours
- Lunch at either Redd Rockett's or Tomorrowland Terrace
- Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
- Innoventions
- Back to hotel to rest/hit the pool
- Grab dinner somewhere
- Take monorail to Tomorrowland station
- Take train to New Orleans square
- PoTC & Indiana Jones if they aren't too crowded
- Stroll around until evening/light counter service dinner
- Fantasmic! at 9pm
- Stroll around/ride what we can
- Hit Main Street Shops
- Take train to Tomorrowland/monorail back to DTD

Day 6 - Saturday, October 17th, 2009

- Check-out from DLH/Fly home
- Pack up and check out by 11am
- Take the shuttle back to LAX
- Fly out at 12:55pm - 2hr flight
- Load up the rig and get home around 4pm and collapse

oh, and here's a pic of the tickets for the Trick or Treat Party ...just generic Disney tickets I'm afraid.

Oh, and I just put up our countdown calendar - Kris gets to take off the first mickey head. Underneath each day is a random number that represents a dollar amount in Disney Dollars. Each of them will end up with $25 Disney Dollars to spend :-]

It won't be long now! I bet the girls are so excited!

Wow, you will have a long day on the 12th! I'd be stumbling to the airport at that time of the morning too. Where is the Rainforest Cafe? Is that in Downtown Disney? Are you gonna make it by 11? Your itinerary looks like so much fun. The fam will have a blast, I'm sure.

Cool calendar. I'm sure they'll be happy with their Disney Dollars.

Hey Tat! Right now the girls (and Kris) are recovering from their first week of school. I'm sure they'll get more excited as the days start really coming off the countdown calendar

Yes, combining a travel day with a park day is always challenging, but fun too! The Rainforest Cafe is in Downtown Disney, just a short walk from the Disneyland Hotel And when I made the reservation they said it was no problem if we were late, they'd still honor it.

We're hoping to have a good amount of fun, but still have some down time every day (except Monday) so we can rest. I figure I'll be down at the pool with the kids and Roxy will be snoozin' in the room

Yes, Kris has pulled his first mickey head off the calendar and so has Bean. She was a little disappointed because she only got a dollar and Kris got three. But I assured her that she'll get some bigger numbers as we go
