Are you a Mentor?

This is intended to spark interest in those considering mentoring. If you are one or have been in the past, could you give a little background; And a shoutout to other mentors!

My personal shoutout!

I was a Jr. Leader in guiding as a teenager. Then went on as an adult Snowy Owl, and Brown Owl.
25 yrs of long service recognition.

I was a counselor as a teenager for Alateen. (Children of an recovering Alcoholic Parent program).

Anglican Sunday School teacher. 10 yrs.

Yes. I've been a big sister in big brothers big sisters for 5 years now. I've been matched to the same girl threw whole time. She was nine when we were matched and now she is 14. The first time we met she wanted to have a pillow fight in my living room and when we hung out yesterday I helped her with her finance homework and discussed plans for the upcoming homecoming dance! Time flies. I started the program as a single gal living on my own looking for something to do to fill my time after a break up with a long term boyfriend. I'm now a married woman with a 2 month old. It's a bit more difficult these days to find the time to spend with her, but she really needs someone to look up to during these teen years.

My dh is a mentor when he has the time. He mentors college students at his work.

He has received the mentor of the year award twice.
