Super Bowl crowd impact - The DIS Discussion Forums

We were in the World from Jan 23 - Feb 1 and saw lots of football fans with Steelers and Cardinal jerseys on. Just curious if anyone who visits WDW yearly around this time thought that the crowd was larger because of the Super Bowl? We plan to attend yearly around this time period (DH has convention each year) and I just wondered if it was the best week to visit or should I rearrange dates, still hitting convention, so that I travel when the crowds are the least? Any help is appreciated!

I was there from the 26th through the 6th. To be honest, I thought it wasn't bad crowd wise. It is usually a little less busy, but I thought it was better than when I went over MLK last year. That was a zoo!

I agree about MLK weekend. We were there in 2008 over that weekend and will NEVER do that again. I just long for the days when there are 15 min waits or less on everything. I think those days are gone!

I was there over super bowl and aside from Sunday morning in MK ( was crowded but not awful) we really didn't notice a huge impact on the crowds this time as compared with other years that a Suberbowl was not in the area. Remember the SB won't be in Fl evey year, just ever once in a while.

Thanks for the info. We had never been to WDW on this particular week so wasn't sure if there was much of a difference or not. I am glad the SB is not going to be in Tampa next year considering we plan on visiting the same week next year. Thanks!
