Slightly OT: I am obsessed and need a support group!!

I am obsessed with out Disney Trip!!! Now I do not see this as a bad thing but well...everyone is making fun of me!!! I am just so excited it will be DD first trip to see Mickey and I know she will not remember anything, but well...I will!!!

I am so obsessed that I am on the disboards a number of times a day. I have made spreadsheets up the ying yang and check the southwest and jet blue websites a number of times a day, hoping that the fight schedule will be listed or price (by some miracle) will be cheaper!! I am so bad that I have developed a "pretend" travel agency, with its very own letterhead, and I will send letters to my parents, sister and BIL (who are traveling with us). These letters are random countdown notices, questions about which restaruants they want to eat at etc...Crazy Right??? Really who makes a "pretend travel agency"???

My family has even recommended that maybe I find better use of my time...like well...therapy. Well when that was recommended I said...I am a psychologist and don't need to pay someone to help me with this problem, but maybe they were right!!!

So...anyway just looking to see if anyone else planning their little one's first trip to Disney is as excited as I am!!!

You are not alone. Ok, not private travel agency, but I am sure I could benefit from some therapy. I had been to WDW many times, but this as my first time in 13 years, DH's first trip to every park except MK (and much of the rides were closed for refurb), and DD3 & DS5 first trip EVER!!! We booked nearly 50 weeks out for Christmas/NY. I copied and laminated park maps (just incase it rained), figured days in parks and ADRs. I was on the phone just after 7 at 180 days out...the only thing we didn't get was BBB the morning of Christmas for CRT (we didn't miss it). The kids clothes came from disney.com (we have to mail order where we live). I would aske everyone and anyone I knew that had been to the World for advise. THEN at about 30 days out I found the boards!!! I chose TGM...so glad we used it for ride order. In the end I was obsessed...hey, I still am! But thanks to all the planning we were able to have a GREAT trip and ride/do all we wanted without waits over 20 minutes over the busiest time of the year...well worth it!!!
I still check out the boards eventhough we don't know when we will be able to make it back due to a pending move and new jobs.
the way I see it...if all my "time" spent on research and planning can help someone else have a fabulous trip...along with our Great trip...it was so worth it!

What shall we call ourselves? All of us obsessed with our trips, Crazy Disney people?
I have only been to WDW 4 times. My 5th time will be this October for the fun of Halloween. I am already scoping out the places to eat, looking at the menus. I am right there with you.
BTW, my DD was 2 the first time we took her to WDW and I remember every moment, it was my first time there, too.
Have a wonderful time!

Lisa

You are soooo not alone! I do something that concerns Disney at least once a day. MY DH is not into Disney at all but I'm still contemplating buying into DVC. I convinced all three DDs that they want a trip to WDW for graduation. All of my overtime goes to trips and I try to work 40 Hrs of overtime per pay period. I'm on the Disboards several times a day. The guys at work tell me to "get off of the Disney drugs" and that my DH is going to go to Disney and punch Mickey out because he takes up all of my time.

Hmmm, that sounds familiar! My mom got so sick of hearing about the last trip & now I'm planning our next one & try to keep it between dh & I since he's as excited as me this time.

Our trip is over a year away and I am on here several times a day. Yesterday my stepdaughter and I were planning how we are going to pack the minivan. Last week she was scheduling which days we are visiting each park. I have no idea what we are going to do for the next 17 months.

Hi.. my name is Kris and I am a Disney-aholic!

I kind of like the fake travel agency thing and may adopt it to send my daughter stuff in anticipation of our trip (she is 6). She is just starting to read so it could be a win-win with her getting some practice reading in and to find out stuff about the trip.

i have not been to disney in about 11 years but this upcoming trip will be my 5th trip. i didn't think i was addicted to disney until we started planning this trip. i'm on this board several times a day researching everything i can possibly think of that is disney related. my dh isn't really into disney and isn't exactly excited about going. the other night he came into the room and i was on the board again and he said why don't you just get off that board and stop planning and us just go. like we could just fly by the seat of our pants on this trip. i said i guess you just think this trip is going to put itself together. i said well you think christmas puts itself together every year so why shouldn't our vacation. lol

my daughter was 16 months old when she went last so this will be like a first trip for her and we are going on her birthday so that makes it extra special. my youngest son is 5 and this will be his first trip. so needless to say me and the kids are extremely excited.

your fake travel agency is so cute. we are going with another couple maybe i could implement that idea for us too. lol

on a side note i apologize for no capital letters or puncuation. ds spilt a coke on my keyboard last night so those functions don't work now.

I never realized there were so many people like me . I thought I was alone. I too am obsessed with plannning our next Disney trip, what days we can go to each park, the rides we will hit first, fastpass plans, meals. My husband is about to have me committed and I still have 17 months to go.

I spent 6 months planning a 5 day trip last year for me, DH, and 2 DDs (6 and 8), and I wasn't nearly as prepared as I thought I was . It was our first trip, and I did not really know what to expect.

I can't belive what I spent the first 31 years of my life missing. I was ready to come back the day after we left. I actually cried when we checked out and headed home . My DS will be three next year, so we plan on coming back and bringing him for his first time. He stayed with my Mom this last trip, because I didn't think he would enjoy it yet, I was probably wrong, so I have to make it up to him.

We are going to spend 2 weeks this time instead of just a few days, so I figured I better get started planning. If it took me 6 months to plan a 5 day trip, I figure 18 months should be about right for a 2 week trip. It gives me something to do, my kids like helping me plan too.
DH doesn't get it, but I hope in time he can accept my Disney addiction, and join in the maddness .

OMG....I knew that people on the Disboards were Disney Crazy but I thought I was the only one who took it to such extermes!!!! I personally LOVE my "Travel Agency." I have even developed an email address with yahoo for my "Travel Agency." Feel free to make your own "Travel Agency" no matter what my family says, it adds to my fun!!

Although I was very proud of myself today because it was ALMOST 24 hours before I got back on the Disboards, I was very sad and going thourgh withdrawal. But now I am back on and that feeling of sadness is gone....

24 hours! When I checked my welcome banner it showed just over 5 hours since I'd last been logged in, and I know I was on here inbetween not logged in.

Same here, crazy thinking for our next trip to Disney. Can't wait to pack our things. We only have 10 months to wait. Not that long.

Have a nice day everyone.
