It is about the night Elvis Pressley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis got together at Sun Record Studios in Memphis.

We saw this and really enjoyed it (my husb even moreso than me). Wish there was more going on but it's based on real life so yeah. Loved the concerty bit at the end!

We didn't really care for it, although the other actors were good and the costumes were excellent.

O. M. Gosh!!

We just saw Book of Mormon on tour, in Des Moines!

It was hilarious!

But definitely not for the easily offended.

I was a bit surprised that no one walked out during the show. We had been to a showing of "La Cage Aux Folles" last year at the same theater, and had to listen to some idiots behind us who complained the entire time - "Is that a GUY? You wouldn't catch me dead in that! I don't think this is funny at all!". Finally, they left.

But I think people knew enough about this show that they knew it was going to be offensive - after all, this IS the South Park guys! And I think the audience mostly knew what to expect.

It was the only time we've been to a matinee that wasn't crawling with little kids! Our "kids" were probably among the youngest folks there - and, at 17 and 21, I figured they were old enough to watch this. After all, they have all heard the words, especially since they watch South Park all the time! They had also seen Avenue Q, by Robert Lopez, who also worked with Trey Parker and Matt Stone on BOM, a few years ago and thought it was great!

We were really lucky to be able to see this - Des Moines is only the 6th city on their tour!

How do you go to a show like La Cage and not know what you're going to see?

We just got tickets for the Jekyl and Hyde revival and the Pippin revival. So excited.

I would have loved to have heard their reactions if they had tried to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert!!

Ours last year, had 6 shows as the package, and then added several "season specials", so that made the advertise price of packages a bit shady. It cost me more to add the specials than for the other 6 shows total.

Congrats to "Lucy".

How do you all handle people who talk during a performance?

Last night we saw Tony Bennett in concert. His daughter Antonia opens for him. People behind us didn't like her performance and were talking about her during the songs. My asking them to be quiet was not effective.

Ours did that last year too and yeah cost me more to add the specials too (but I got excellent seats for those). I didn't mine too much bcz Wicked was a special and I didn't want to see it again. I think it was a combo of shows added too late, added in the off-season, and ones that had come through before that they didn't want to make ppl see if they'd already seen.

It's just weird we get 2 more we don't know about yet

Hey everybody! Long time member, and starter of this thread, returning to the Dis! WOW! I'm surprised this thread is still going. I never imganed a thread I started would still be going after all this time.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, yes, I'm being bad and not checking, but I'm kind of sad to hear that Mary Poppins is closing. My mother-in-law got tickets for me and the wife to see here in Boston a few years ago, and I loved it! Well, it's good to see this thread still going. I hope to start contributing again on a regular basis.

And THANKS, CCT, for starting a great thread!!

Congrats to "Lucy"! I love Charlie Brown - a great show!
Our DS is in rehearsals now for his high school production of "Grease" - he plays Johnny Casino, who sings the Hand Jive song.

You know, it just seems to me that the level of etiquette at shows has bottomed out. It is as if people don't know how to behave in a civil manner in public anymore. We've noticed just general bad behavior at lots of live shows (people talking, farting, eating, blatantly ignoring the "no photography" rules, cell phones going off and even worse, people actually ANSWERING them, etc.). It's amazing - and kind of sad.

It is amazing, and it makes me crazy! People are always getting up and walking out in the middle of a song, wearing hoodies and trucker hats, etc. Makes me nuts!!!!!!!!!
