Question Which one?

So, I have been racking my brains to try and figure out where we can have an at home reception. I want it to be fun, but still nice, and most importantly - memorable. I so do not want it in a bland hall with rubber chicken!!!
So I think that I have narrowed it down to 2 locations. Both are fairly close to town. The first is a lovely park with a large gazebo. There is a small stream that goes around the park and a wooden bridge that goes over the stream and into a large grassy opening where the gazebo is. It is very pretty, and we have photographed a lot of weddings there. The only problem is that the gazebo is the only source of shelter, so if it rains or if it is really cold or hot, we are SOL!
Here are some pics - they aren't the best, but they show the location

The second is at this place called Soloman's Castle. It is built by an artist out of recycled material. The bottom part of the castle is an art museum with all of his work. The top is his living quarters and a guest room in the tower reserved for honeymooners, etc. There is a moat around the castle, and a boat in the moat that has a restaurant inside of it. It's called The Boat in The Moat restuarant! There is additional seating around the boat that is outdoors. If I have it here, it would be in the evening, so we are the only guests. The guests all get a guided tour of the castle, grounds, and the restaurant will cater a dinner for around $20/person. I think that this is our best bet, b/c if the weather is bad, We can go inside the boat. It's smaller than it looks in the pictures, and it is a not fancy like Disney - the tables are plastic but it looks like fun.
Here are a couple of pics we took yesterday-

We would probably do it in March of 2010. This would give us enough time to save up some more $$, and we should still all fit into our wedding clothes!!
What does everyone think???

Gratuitous pic of myself, but I made it a Disney pic! lol

Congrats on getting your date!
I love the flowers you made and the flower girl dress.

As I said in my PJ you totally need to get the blue dress.

I love all your pictures. I see in your profile you have a Nikon. I have a D40 and I just got a second lens the 55-200, there was a major deal on it at Best Buy at New Years. I want to get the Sigma 30mm and was all set to get it, but before I could the price went up, like, a lot!
Anywho since you take professional pics you probably have a better camera than the D40, but I thought I would share.

Ok. More! more! Keep asking Cathy questions so I don't have to

I love your baby picture! I think that my DD looks a lot like you. Your hair is just a touch brighter than hers though. Hers keeps getting darker as she gets older.

I hope you get a green dress! It will just look fabulous on you! I can't wait to be able to go try on dresses. I really want blue, or something with blue in it. My DH wants me to get white. I am going to take him dress shopping with me and try to convince him otherwise !

And don't worry about Cathy! I'll keep bugging her about stuff. She will probably be so glad once my ceremony is over!

I am not a big fan of the D40! Please don't shoot me! I know that a lot of people love it. For the price, it is a great camera, but it is not Nikon's best work. I've had a lot of people tell me that they have had problems with theirs.

In the picture I have a D50. It was one of Nikon's first digital SLR's and all of our equipment from our 35mm Nikon's fits on it. I love it!! It is also our cheaper camera, so it is usually the one we to the parks, etc.

In our studio, I use a D80. Great camera! I usually use Quantaray lenses, because they are a little cheaper than the Nikon ones, and they are awesome! You should check them out. The one in the studio that I use is a 18-200. We also have a Nikon lense that's 55-170, plus a couple of great macro lenses. Some of these are so big, that they are like paparazzi lenses! We can take pics of the moon with them. I would totally love to get some better ones, but I tend to break things - (I have already trashed two lenses with beach sand!) - so I can't justify spending the money on them right now.

I am hoping in about a year to upgrade cameras once again. Maybe a D300. We'll see. It depends on new technology!
Enjoy your camera!

This sounds wonderful. 2012 is not that far away, especially once you start planning and realize everything that needs to get done! Congratulations on making it to 15 years!

Dress Shopping !!!

I went dress shopping this week! I was so excited and nervous about it at the same time. I went to Sarasota since we had to go pick up my son's new glasses down there. I was hopping to go to the Maggie Sottero store in Ft. Myers, but never made it.

So I was totally nervous b/c three kids and 2 c-sections have left me with a big belly. I have a hard time getting clothes to fit. I am like a 14 on top and a 16 on bottom. My most recent experiences with my pageant dresses has been a fiasco, and I am surprised that I won my title in the dress that I did. (it fit horribly, even after alterations!)

The two bridal shops here in town don't carry samples in my sizes, so I would just have to try on a size 6 and then order one in my size! It might go over one of my legs...

So off to Sarasota we go. The first bridal shop was like something out of a nightmare. Everything looked second hand and like it was from the 80's! It was all supposedly new. And they didn't have my size either.

The next shop was very upscale, and out of my price range, and out of my size.

By the time we got to the last shop, I was very frustrated and a complete nervous wreck. The place was nice, the staff was very friendly, and they had my sizes!!! They also carried a great selection including Maggie Sottero gowns.

I first tried on a couple of Maggie's in blue, since that is what I had my heart set on. The first one was a darker blue, and the fit was great. She knows how to make a dress! It hid all of my imperfections including my belly, and since it laced up in the back, I didn't have to worry about my top being too small. It was a really pretty dress, but it looked more like a prom dress on me. They didn't have the Estelle dress in for me to try on, so I tried on another light blue one, and it looked like a mother of the bride dress on me.

Then I tried on an Allure Bridals gown with the pick up skirt. It was gorgeous!!! I looked like Belle in it! Even my DH loved it, and he originally thought that the pickups make the dress look messy when we looked at it online. But in person, he loved it, and so did I.

I tried on another Allure gown that is the same one that DisneyBrideToni has!! It was very pretty too, but the one with the pick ups was the best yet.

I tried on another Maggie gown, and a few more that just looked down right awful on me. One of them made me look like a fat version of Glenda the Good Witch on the Wizard of Oz! All I could think about was the Belle Dress!

I had never even really heard of Allure Bridals, but I so wanted the dress! I didn't order it that day, and came home and looked at other dresses online and other DISbrides and then I realize that both Kendra and Toni had them, and their dresses were beautiful.

I couldn't get the "Belle" dress out of my head, so I ordered it the next day!

Dress Pics

Here are pictures of my dress from the web. I ordered it in ivory, and this first one is in white:

Here it is in ivory-

My DH doesn't know that I ordered it yet! I am going to have to tell him soon before he looks at our bank statement!

I actually got a great deal on it. I believe that this is a style that is being discontinued, so the bridal shop had a new one in my size that has never been tried on or anything, but they needed to clear out inventory for new styles, so I got over 60% off on it!

I also ordered my DD another dress since hers is white and I got an ivory gown. For some reason my DH doesn't like her dress having spaghetti straps on it. We went round and round about this. He asked me to sell it on Ebay. Well now, I am going to have to do something with it, since it is white and my gown is ivory.

I decided to order her a dress with pickups on the skirt too since we will match. I didn't think that I would like this style on her either, but it looked really pretty when she tried it on. So I got hers in pale blue - that way I still get A BLUE DRESS!!! Plus it really makes her blue eyes pop!

I'll have to look and see if I can get pictures of it.

Here are some of my other purchases:

I am going to use them as decoration by my cake table.

This is a cute little purse.

Ok - I have lots of updates, but no time to write about them! I just had to do my continuing ed and renew my Real Estate license on top of everything else.
Here is the most exciting news! My DD got a new flower girl dress, since the one I had for her was white, and my gown is ivory. Since I didn't get a blue gown, we decided to get her a blue one. It is gorgeous!!! So much better than the first one. We got her a pickup skirt to go with mine as well.

So many updates!

I have done so much in the past week - I don't even know where to begin!
I paid for the remaining balance on the cruise!
I also paid for the majority of my VR!
I sent my packet into Cathy - I chose the standard bouquet with pale pink roses. I am adding Mickey crystals and a pale pink rose wand for my DD, as well as rose petals for the aisle. I think that I might add another 2 arrangements for decor - but that is still up in the air.
I chose the standard square cake - and I am going to leave it all white and stop fighting about it! Some hidden mickeys on it would be nice though...

Our ceremony music is all Disney - and I will post it all later!

I also booked our MK castle photo shoot! It is on Dec. 9th at 6am. I requested Amy for our photographer, with Ty as a backup!! I have not paid for that one yet - they do not charge credit cards until the day after the shoot. So hopefully I won't spend it on something else!

I ordered a Mickey crystal necklace from ebay. I'll have to post some pics in a little while.

We also went to DownTown Disney and I got a pair of bride mouse ears , as well as a Mickey pin for my DS to wear on his jacket lapel for the wedding. I wanted the top hat groom ears, but they didn't have any in stock at that location. I also wanted to get rhinestone hidden mickey hair clips/barrettes, but they didn't have those either!

I also made a tiara for myself - since the one in the bridal shop was $200!!!

Mine is made with jewelry wire, real freshwater pearls, glass pearls, silver glass beads, and swavorski crystals. I even put a little hidden mickey at the top! It was really hard and time consuming - I totally understand the crazy charges for them now, but totally worth it!

LOL! Well the 5 am slot is still open... you should totally do the photo shoot! It is like a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am so excited about it, but worried, since we still have to figure out the actual logistics of babysitters, hair, driving, hotels, etc.

Also, the only reason that I sent my package in was b/c I change my mind like a million times. So I figured if I picked what I wanted and sent it in, I might actually be able to stick to it. I hope!
