Don't know much about the Biggest Loser Diet....but have been very successful with WW. As the TV ads say.... WW is a life-style change. I am on WW maintainence and all I can say is, it works. I lost 50lbs. 3 yrs ago and just recently decided I wanted to tone up and lose a few more lbs. ( 15 more to be exact), for a total weight loss of 65 lbs. I am a 5'6, 49 yr. old female and currently wear a size 4-6.
Whatever you decide, good luck! I have finally added an exercise routine (4-5 times a week) which has also really helped my metabolism.

I've not tried either plan, but wonder what you have decided.

I figure whatever plan works for you to change toward a healthy lifestyle is what you will enjoy. You may need to switch as time goes, but as long as it's moving in the direction of being a healthier you that's the one!

Best WISHes for a healthy New Year.

I've done Weight Watchers and have success. I know do calories and enjoy not having to figure points. Mentally its better for me, but WW's does work great.

BL is basically calories, but I don't know what the range is. Sparkpeople.com has a good calorie system and is free. It figures out your calories based on height, weight and how active you are and gives you a range. It has a great place to enter your food you eat and keeps track of the calories for you. The best thing to do is get rid of the pre-populated meal plans and enter your own food that you eat.

There are message boards on Sparkpeople, including teams -like biggest loser and others where you can talk to people about specific problems or other topics.

I really think that losing weight is an energy math problem - It's all about calories in and calories out.

I think you would do great on either.

I think BL focuses on diet but also puts a bigger emphasis on the excersice portion of your life too. I flipped through the book at the bookstore and I think that is a more well rounded program. I did WW after college and while I lost a bunch of weight, I didn't work out as much as i should and therefore wasn't as healthy (skinny does not equal healthy!). After I stopped WW I started lifting weights, running more, and felt a million times better than when on WW.

So I'm going to vote for BL

It really boils down to doing what works best for you. It is important that you understand how you lose the weight is also how you will need to live the rest of your life. You can not expect to lose weight and keep it off if you go back to the way you ate before. So pick a plan that you can live with long term, not just one that you can live with until you lose the weight.

Jillian Micheals book

I've just finished reading Jillian Michael's new book, "Master Your Metabolism" and once I'm done losing with the HCG plan, I am going to try her eating plan. While some say its just "calories in, calories out," she makes it clear that not all calories are equal and those processed "diet" foods that may be low cal really mess up your metabolism in the long run.

I highly recommend the book especially for those of us with sluggish metabolisms and (undiagnosed) issues. (Despite strong symptoms, doctors just don't want to mess with thyroid or other hormonal imbalances for some reason in my area.)

Stuck in remodeling limbo, but still wishing for a Disney trip
