The first shirt was my partner's...we had to paint hers...the bleach pen of course didn't show up on the black or it is a dud, one...lol...the second shirt was our son's shirt...that one turned out pretty cute!

Ok, these are the ones we did last night...we spent several hours working on these! Each shirt took me at least 30 minutes to dye...I was trying to be really careful and not rush through them. Same method as before but more rubber bands and tighter! If you think you have enough rubber bands and they are far enough down, add another one

These were supposed to be camo Mickey Heads...the top shirt is the one I did...my parnter has a little harder time with the whole process...you can see what happened to our kiddo's shirt in the last pic...lol...I guess the back of the tshirt got puckered in with the basted Mickey head...we can fix that one

And last but not least...wait, forgot I have another fun shirt to show ya'll...lol!

These were neat but nerve wracking, wondering if they were going to come out at all! We used an iron on transfer some lovely person on the DISsign thread made for us, basted the Mickey head and tie dyed as usual. It had a lot of dye on the transfer and I was SURE it wouldn't come out...that it would be yet another wear around the house tshirt..but they look decent, I think.

Close up of camo shirt (bear with me, I am learning how to post pics tonight from Photobucket)

I didn't do a swirl design on this one...just scrunched it up. I should have scrunched it and used rubber bands on it but I didn't think about doing that. I like the overall effect but I want to do it again...l I used dark brown from Dharma and WOW at the red speckles that was in this dye! I thought we mixed it up well...you couldn't see the speckles while we were dyeing the shirts so we didn't know they were there until after we rinsed it out. Oh well...will try again! We did use urea too...but apparently it didn't help!

I know ya'll are sick of looking at pics and I apologize for that! This is the last one for tonight, I promise!

This one was kind of an oops shirt too...when I printed out the first iron on transfer...silly me forgot it needed to be flipped so that the text was readable! We were going to let Brody use it as a sleep shirt but after HE tie dyed it (he is 3) and it turned out so pretty, my partner decided to dip into the fabric paint again...lol! She painted the Mickey head black and it gives an interesting vinyl looking effect.

I have learned so much on this thread and thank all of you for all of your tips and pointers...especially our Queen of Tie Dye, Roxy

I welcome questions, comments, criticisms...

YOU GOOOO GIRL!!!

You did awesome! It's all about time, lots of time, love all the different colors and the iron on is cool too, love it!!

The red dots are a pain in the you know what!! Agrr, I use UREA and hot water, well not burning hot but warm enough and let it sit for 20 minutes or so, shake it really good, since red is used to make brown and gray too its normal to see them.

Im so proud of you guys!! Thank you for posting your pics.

I noticed the specks in the the grey too! It kinda worked out to my advantage though. They showed up in my grey and hot pink spiral and my specks were magenta. I noticed all the different colors when I rinsed my measuring spoon in the sink after I had measured the dye powder into my squirt bottle. I was like "OMG...Annie (my tiedye partner) GET IN HERE AND LOOK IN THE SINK!!!!!!!!! IT LOOKS LIKE A FRIGGIN RAINBOW!!!!!!!!!!" There was magenta and red and blue and purple and yellow...it was awesome lol.

It sure is quiet around here! :) Got tips?

Does anyone have any good tips about how to keep red from taking over the white areas during the wash? We made some more tie dye shirts (not Mickey heads) last week and while we got good colors on them the red ran wild in the washing machine and colored the white areas PINK! They weren't that pink before the wash...somewhat but not as bad as when we washed them. We put salt and vinegar in the wash...and used Synthrapol, washed in cold water. I've seen some nice shirts that have a lot of red in them on here that stayed white where it is supposed to...lol...so I know it can be done! Any help would be appreciated!

That's weird. Maybe you need to watch them more than once, if you see a lot of color in the water, wash them again just with Syn. You should be able to keep your areas white. I had done white and black and the white always stays white.

Your shirts turned out great! I especially like the ones with the iron-on design! I've done a lot of shirts with red in them, and I find that if I rinse the heck out of them in the sink they don't get pink in the wash. I mean, reaaaalllly rinse. I fill the sink a little, swish the shirt to get the dye out, drain it, and keep doing that until the water is no longer pink. Sometimes 8-10 times. It's very time-consuming, but it does keep the white areas white! HTH!!

I just want to thank you again PixieDust32 for the tie dye shirts we ordered for our sons trip he was granted through the Dream Factory. They looked awesome and once we had them on they looked even better. We chose to wear them on our day at the Magic Kingdom. We had many compliments through out the day. Many people asked if we made them and I was very happy to say sorry we didn't but PixieDust32 on the Dis boards did. Something as wonderful as those tshirts, the credit needed to be given to you 100%. So hopefully you will get a couple extra orders from the word of mouth. Even CM's kept complimenting us on our shirts. I honestly wasn't sure if my DH would go for the matching shirts but he wore it proudly. And has worn it since being home too. I have taken them out of the tshirt drawers so we have them for our next trip. LOL

Thanks again and enjoy the picture of our family in them at the MK.
