USPS Delivery Refusal

How do you refuse delivery of a package? Do I just put it back in my mailbox with a note saying "delivery refused"?

TIA!

I think the notice actually has a box to check for that.

you could also write "refused" in bold letters on it!

Just write on the package "Refused" and put it in your mailbox with the flag up.

Depending on the postage paid on it, you may have to pay postage to send it back. If it is first class or priority you won't have to pay postage.

I am a part-time rural carrier, so you can pm me if you need more info.

"return to sender" will not work it will bounce back to you--put on it REFUSED or NOT ACCEPTED then in small letters Return to Sender. I have to do this at least three times a year for videos that I don't want from the DMC since the website doesn't always work when I go to refuse them.

Every single time I have to return a package that I wrote "Return to Sender" on it, I sing that song!

I have always used Return to Sender. Is it something new or regional for the postoffice to not use this any longer?

Either "Refused" or "Return to sender" will work but you must scratch out the bar code on the package. Then it will not bounce back to you. Delivery and sorting is done by machines that read the barcode to send it to the address listed.

I have always written return to sender. No scratching out of anything and I have never had any problems.

If you open the package you need to pay to ship it back. If you open it and it's a wrong item on their end, you can call the company and ask for a pre-paid postage label so you can return it without paying postage.

If you haven't opened it, cross out any bar codes (if any) on the package and write "refused" on it.

Write refused on the package and put it back in the box with the flag up. If you open it you have to pay to return it. You don't have to accept any package you did not order. Just don't tamper with the package and you will be fine. You can refuse any package delivered to you.

I write Refused and Return to Sender on the package, put it in my mailbox and put the flag up. When I get home the package is gone.
