What are the current incentives for BLT for a NEW MEMBER

I have been seeing a lot about new BLT incentives. Does anyone know currently what is being offered for a NEW CONTRACT for BLT? We have been holding off to buy DVC until we can buy into a resort we want. We want BCV, BWV, VWL or BLT. Right now BLT is very inviting, but I dont want to make a bad money decision when we can buy resale. If BLT doesn't have any incentives, we would probably lean towards a resale.

What do you all think? Thanks for any replies!

AND yes we want to buy were we would be happy staying. We will definitely be planning 11 months out so Resort does matter.

Thanks

$5.00 off per point and matching Developer Points. 160 pts cost $17,140 (I think) and we got 160 points to use at Saratoga Springs by Oct. '09 or to be used in the International Exchange that can be banked for up to 2 years.

According to our Guide and Member Services (when we called to make our developer point reservation) they can only be used at SSR... It also states that on the paperwork we received for the points.

The DPs can only be used at SSR, DLR or II. If you choose the 1bdrm for 3 or 5 nights option, then you may choose any DVC resort (subject to availability)

I should clarify that the second option is a 3 nights free in a 1 brdm at any DVC resort (subject to availability) for 160-219 points and 5 nights free for over 220 points. My guide told me this was a special over the phone offer only. This also includes a $1000 gift card and the price per point is $112.

I personally don't think this is such a great deal. If you choose the DPs then you will get $112-$5=$107 per point and the difference on a gift card ($800) and you get matching DPs. Now I can get a lot more than 3 nights out of 160 points, such as a whole week in a studio in July plus 3 nights at Disneyland. Or, 8 nights in a 1 brdrm (Su-Th only)in Adventure season. Or, well, you get the idea.

The free nights way I just get three nights and an extra $200. So not worth it to me.

I'm kinda confused about this offer you are writing about. I have seen this offer but I thought it was via email. I am wondering if I called my guide and was willing (aka:able to get DH to agree) to buy 160 points would he offer this deal. What exactly would be my benefits for buying BLT right now at 160 points if I was able to get the offer you mentioned. Could you clarify. I am confused about a 1000.00 gift card versus a $5 discount. Is there a better deal out there for buying into BLT right now?

Thanks

Although my guide said it was just for via telephone, I am sure you will be able to get this if you want it.

Many times the gift card is the exact amount of the discounted price. In other words, you buy BLT at $112 per point. DVC gives you $5 off per point on a gift card which you may choose to put towards your down payment. 160point purchased @ $112= 17,920, less $5 per point ($800)= 17,120.

There are two offers running right now. One is for matching developer's points to be used at SSR, DLR and II, plus $5 off per point. If you buy 160 points, it will cost $17920. Then you get the $5 off per point ($800 )on a gift card and an extra 160 points to be used in 2009. So your points will cost 17, 120 plus closing costs.

The other offer is a $1000 gift card and 3 or 5 nights in a 1bdrm at any DVC property. There is no discount off the $112 per point, but you do get the $1000 gift card. If you buy 160 points your cost is $17920-$1000=$16920 and you get 3 nights free. If you buy 220 points it will cost $24640-$1000=23640 and you will get 5 nights free.

If you divide the number of points by how much they cost minus the gift card (assuming you are using it as a down payment as many people do), the numbers break down like this:

Offer #1: 17,120 divided by 160pts = $107 per point and 160 free points
Offer #2: 16,920 divided by 160pts = #105.75 and 3 nights free, or
23,640 divided by 220pts=$107.45 per point and 5 nights free

Notice that the 160pts with the $1000 gift card equals a lesser price per point which is always a good thing. However, that only holds true for 160-199points. if you are buying 200 or more points the first offer will give you a larger discount. Example:
200 pts x $112=22,400-$5 per point ($1000)= $21,400 & 200 developer points
200 pts x $112=22,400-$1000 gift card = $21,400 and 3 free nights

220 pts x $112=$24640-$5 per point ($1100)=$23540 & 220 developer points
220 pts x $112=$24640-$1000= $23540 and 5 free nights.

In some cases, the set $1000 gift card is a better deal per point. However, I still feel that the first offer with the matching developer points is better because I can have more days at SSR than just 3 nights. That is just my opinion, and some may argue that the lower cost per point for 160-199 points is a better deal.

Wow thats impressive!!! I am a numbers person so I love the breakdown and I agree with you wholeheartily that for us who would be only buying 160 points that paying the additional 200.00 for the offer with matching DP is a much better deal because we stay in Studios and we could get two vacations out of that easily! Thanks so much for breaking it down. So bummed I can't get a 100 point contract for a new purchase any more. I do think we would definitely be in! Well back to Resales I guess. We just want to do this with cash and not finance and so we want to buy small! Thanks!
