We just returned -- My Dreams Came True!
Hi DISboarders!
Are you ready to hear a real-life fairy tale? I happily logged in to the DIS to report about the crowds on my first day at WDW last week. Live trip reports are very useful. However, on our first day at the Magic Kingdom, which was Day 2 of our trip, something MAGICAL and extraordinary happened that changed our vacation... and our lives. We are new annual passholders, and we've been to Disney parks many times, yet we appreciate short lines to our favorite attractions. We had finished AK in half a day at evening EMH on Wednesday night (including duplicate rides on the major attractions, 2xEE), so we were not in a hurry to finish the rest of the parks that way. We had also rented a car from Alamo on this trip, which we felt gave us more time to enjoy the parks at our leisure without worrying about "missing the bus" or stopping by at our resort in the middle of the day. Again, please ask if you would like to read more details about any of this information. AK had been empty, so we opted to skip morning EMH at MK. We walked into MK an hour after rope drop, having our pictures taken along Main Street with the different Photopass photographers. On the way, a Disney Dream Team member was smiling at me, and he walked over, chatted with us a bit and asked me if I would like one of his pins for my lanyard. I chose a pin with a few princesses on it for my "magical moment." How sweet! We eventually walked toward Central Plaza, toward the photographer that stands at the spot where the trolley tracks diverge around to the castle forecourt. She mentioned that the Dream Along with Mickey show was just about to begin, and she would wait for us to return to her near the end of the show, so we could get our pictures taken with the stage full of characters and the daytime fireworks at Cinderella Castle. I always adore how Minnie and Donald learn that their dreams *can* come true in DAWM, so we readily agreed with her suggestion! The show was fantastic as always, and I was a little teary-eyed as we approached the Disney photographer again. She smiled at us and started snapping away as the fireworks went off... and all too soon, the show came to an end. The characters went back into the castle, and we knew we would catch them in Toontown and the Disney Visa area (in the Epcot Innoventions pavilion) later in our trip. My boyfriend and I turned to each other, and all of a sudden, he says, "And, there's one more thing..." He dropped himself down to one knee and pulled out a mahogany box from his pocket. I was completely shocked!! We have known each other for 11 years, and have been dating for 6 years, yet I had no idea that he had made these plans and purchased a ring. He described why we belonged together forever, and it was everything that I wanted to hear from my best friend... it was a thoughtful and beautifully planned proposal... Of course, I said yes! We had a special moment where we were then hugging and I was crying with joy after the engagement! It was special and so magical, to say the least. We looked up and saw that a small crowd had gathered with our Photopass photographer on Main Street now, along with eight Disney Dream team members clapping and cheering enthusiastically (and some were crying with joy too) and they were among the first congratulate us. Two of the Disney Dream team members were even more involved: The original DT member who had given me his pin was holding our camcorder, and he said that he had taped the entire proposal, and another member had captured some of the events on our digital camera. The Photopass photographer was standing next to her beaming with joy too! My boyfriend had planned for them to have these items while we were immersed into the DAWM show, so I didn't figure it out! They had recorded the entire proposal for us, and this is a gift that we will always treasure. We talked with the Dream Team after the engagement, and they wanted to hear our story of how we met. They are all very kind, a reflection of Disney magic in the best possible way. We will always have them in our hearts for sharing this special day with us at Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom. They gave us a box containing our first engagement present from Mickey Mouse: a statue of Mickey and Minnie wearing wedding attire. They also took the "Just Married" Cinderella buttons and wrote "Just Engaged" on them. It was so perfect, and we could not thank Disney enough for caring about us. What started out as a WDW vacation turned into so much more... many more magical moments happened on the other days in this vacation, but the magic and pixie dust in our proposal tops the list. My dreams came true! Thank you for reading our story. I wholeheartedly wish the same magic for all of you who are hoping to meet your prince or princess someday. We dressed up in handmade Aladdin and Jasmine costumes for MNSSHP on 10/26... this is truly the only place in the world that we would feel confident to dress this way. Overall, except two separate CMs who seemed to chide us largely because they mistook us for CMs (which we are not), we had a wonderful time, and received many sincere congratulations. The lines for MK rides were non-existent, and we enjoyed visiting Agrabah in Adventureland to get autographs from the Aladdin characters. By the way, the MK had the lowest crowds we had seen on Tuesday this week, which is when we took our 8-hour Backstage Magic Tour. We were able to walk right up to the curb to see the 3:00 parade (at 3:15 on Main Street). Walking on Air, PrincessMonkey Update: a few pictures are up on Post #18 now. Hugs!
