Barcelona, Spain Hotels...Any Suggestions?

I know it is very early, but planning a vacation is part of the excitement...

Anyone have any suggestions on hotels in Barcelona near the port?

Price, location, cleanliness, past experiences?

Thanks for any input!

Oh, we are on the May 15th cruise.

May I suggest you search for the Crystal palace hotel it is situated in a great position in the central part of Barcelona just a block away from where all the tourist buses start and the hard rock café, etc.

It is one of the few hotels with family suites so for a family of four plus you can all stay together, its just off La Rambler the taxi to the port would be 15 mins.

Without luggage I walked the way to the port a few times, its reasonably priced far better than the DCL approved hotels.

Thank you for the information. I am looking at reviews and it looks like a good hotel in a good location. Now I will have to find a decent rate. How long was the walk? (walking time and distance)

We are leaving for Barcelona in a month to cruise on another cruiseline (gasp!) and did alot of research on hotels in Barcelona. We are staying in a moderately priced hotel called Condes de Barcelona. It is very close to Las Ramblas which is a very fun street and close to many of the Gaudi attractions and the church. It was down to the hotel we chose and the Atrium Palace. If price is no object, the Hotel Majestic is a beautiful hotel in the heart of everything. Alot of people also choose Hotel Continental due to its location, cheap price and 24 hr buffet with free soda, bottled water and beer. It is a no frills kind of place that we considered, but opted for a little fancier hotel.

It was difficult to book a room b/c we are 3 and needed a triple where alot of the hotels make you book another room at full price when you have more than 2 people. Ours and some others charge a flat rate for moving another bed into the room.

Hope you have fun...we can't wait to get there!!

We stayed at the Regencia Colon for 5 days before our 2007 cruise. It is a small hotel about a half block from the Cathedral and the wonderful street scene and festivals that take place there. We had a view of the Cathedral from our room! The rooms were large, clean, and had modern bathrooms. Breakfast was included. It was about a 5 minute walk from Las Ramblas and a 15 minute walk to the port area. The morning of the cruise we took a cab from the hotel - I don't remember the exact cost of the cab - about $20.

For our pre and post cruise nights, we stayed at the Hotel Continental Palacete and loved it. The location is great, a couple blocks from Las Ramblas. We walked from our hotel all the way down Las Ramblas to the marina and back. The rooms were small and very pink and flowery but clean and quiet.
The best part was the 24 hour buffet. There were snacks and drinks (incliuding cans of soda and beer-also wine) which were all-included. They also had two computers with free internet. I would definately stay there again.

We stayed at the Casa Camper twice last year and loved it. At that time it was the top hotel recommended on trip advisor in Barcelona and this year it is the second hotel listed. There are free drinks and snacks all day long, and free breakfast in the morning. We loved it and would stay there again.

We stayed at the Marriott Renassaince for one night post cruise. It was very clean and modern and we had no problem getting a rollaway for the room so it worked for us. We had an early flight the next morning and it was very convenient to the airport. It was not close to town or anything else however. It's located in a business park. If we fly in early in 2010 I'd like to stay somewhere in town. (Oh, DH you need to rack up Hilton points this time instead of Marriott ... )

We stayed at the Rivoli Ramblas for 3 nights prior to our DCL Med cruise in 2007 and loved it..Here is a LInk.

We had two rooms - one for DH and I and one for our DD's. We had a lovely king bed and the girls had twins. Both rooms were overlooking the Las Ramblas and we were very centrally located. I would go back in a heartbeat - the price was fantastic too!

Casa Camper

We also stayer in the Casa Camper in 2007. It was a great hotel and just off Las Ramblas too. the free snacks and soda was also nice. You get 2 rooms for the price of 1 there, and kids 12 and under are free. we were 3 and it worked out well. our DD12 stayed in the small room and we were in the big one.

We stayed at the Marriott Renaissance Airport for our pre-cruise stay in 2007. I would recommend staying anyplace else--our stay we not very good at all. It took over 30 minutes to check in (not fun after an overseas flight), the fire alarm went off numerous times during the night, and although we paid extra to be on the club level, the club lounge was frequently out of food and drink.

We also stayed in this hotel for one night before our 07 med cruise. We loved the hotel and it's location on Las Ramblas. We also had two rooms for the 5 of us. Dh and Ds stayed in a double and Dd's and I stayed in a triple. They weren't connecting but close enough. They had a nice buffet breakfast in the morning. I don't remember the exact cost, but it was reasonable. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. Oh, and the rooms were not small at all, lots of room.

hotels

The hotels in Barcelona that are DCL "approved"...the ones you can book through them, and include transfers and such are

AB Skipper
Hilton Diagonal Mar
AC Barcelona
AC Diplomatic
Hotel Le Meridien

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dc...tionDetailPage

Looking on Tripadvisor, they all look pretty good, but expensive....depends alot on location.
We booked at AC Diplomatic...it was cheapest, and near transportation and shops.
I think you could definitely get a better deal by booking on yer own, but we chose the convenience.

There is one issue my TA brought up....I guess alot of European hotels only allow 2 guests per room? I plan to research a bit more and my decide to try a book something myself....

We've stayed at the Hotel 1898 and the Hotel Jazz. Both excellent hotels right on Las Ramblas.
The Hotel 1898 is right across the street from the Le Meridian and in the middle of everything. It is a gorgeous, elegant hotel with a really cool rooftop pool and patio. There is Starbucks next door and the Hotel is down the street from the Boqueria Market, which is a fabulous open air market. It's amazing and a great place to pick up the ingredients for a picnic lunch.

The Hotel Jazz is located on the upper end of Las Ramblas near Plaza Catalunya. It's a beautiful, more contemporary version of the Hotel 1898. Also very central to all of the major tourist sites.

Both hotels are close to the Hop on Hop off Bus Stop. We will be staying at one of these two in 2010.
