T & T do the triple – day 12. The Magic Kingdom

We are:

Tony, (DH – Tony64) age 44 - in charge of driving, collecting coffee and doughnuts for breakfast, running to get fast passes and generally stressing. This is his ninth trip.

Theresa (me), age 43 - in charge of the credit cards and plotting quickest routes to the shopping malls. This is my tenth trip.

Maddie (DD), age 19 - jointly in charge of where we eat, shop and play this trip. This is her seventh trip.

Callum (DS) age 18 - in charge of himself. This is his seventh trip.

Wednesday 3rd September 2008

We were all up super-early (though some more early than others ), and were at The Magic Kingdom in plenty of time to watch the opening ceremony.

Here we are in front of the Mickey flower bed, taken with a fish-eye camera.

Although we have been to Florida several times at the end of August, our holiday has never stretched into September before. And what an incredible surprise it was! Absolutely no queues what so ever all day! Every single ride was a walk on, apart from a ten minute wait for the Indy Speedway.
I don't know why we do this ride really - it's so slow and frustrating when there are people in front who keep stopping. Cal and I decided to liven it up a bit by bumping into Tony and Maddie in front.

We did everything in Tomorrowland first. Maddie and I decided we would ride Astro-Orbitor which we had never done before. This proved to be hilarious. The CM asked us if we were riding together so we said yes, thinking that would be fine. Well it probably is fine if you’re very small! We are both quite tall and we just couldn’t get our long legs in the rocket! There was a lot of giggling as we tried various ways and finally made it with legs sticking up all over the place. The ride was fun, though the lift taking you to it wasn’t – far too hot, slow and crowded for my liking.

We also did Monsters Inc Laugh floor, which the children hadn’t done before. Tony was picked out from the audience and his face kept coming up on the screen as “that guy”. He was given a sticker to wear afterwards, saying “I was that guy at Monsters Inc Laugh floor”.

We did all the rides in Fantasyland next, then stopped for lunch at Cosmic Rays. Ribs and mash for Tony, Cal and I. Naturally, Maddie had a burger.

Next, we did Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Swiss family treehouse and Pirates, and then bought ourselves some yummy dole whips from Aloha Isle.

It was at this point that Maddie and I had the wild idea of trying to do every single ride and attraction in the park before going home (as there were no queues, we were curious to see if it was possible), but by 3 o’clock we were getting a bit too hot so finished the afternoon browsing the shops in main street, buying some fudge, and watching the parade.

We went back home for a swim in the pool, taking all the pool toys from the condo with us, including a huge inflatable alligator which was almost impossible to get onto without lots of grappling and shrieking.
The pool area.

For dinner, we went back to the 192 to one of our favourite restaurants, The Longhorn. Lovely meal as usual. $112 before tip.
Some food piccies, because a trip report isn't the same without them.
Sierra Chicken

Redrock grilled shrimp

11oz strip and baby back ribs

Lobster tail

Chicken tenders

Chocolate Stampede

Completely full up (we call this "Longhorn stuffed"), we drove home to a bit of TV then bed.

Another fun filled day . . . but Theresa, what I really want to know is--have I counted entrees correctly? Five?! Still just the four of you, right? Well hey, it's vacation and it would be a shame to leave any menu item unordered.

My fault Susan, I couldn't resist the lobster tail to accompany my shrimp.
