Okey dokey. The influence of Disney in my life began early on. I am actually not sure how old I was in these pictures, but it was somewhere around 4 years old, I guess.

I was wearing Mickey shirts and playing with Mickey stuffed toys from the beginning. Here I am with my mom.

Here I am with the Weebles Disneyland set, which came with the Dumbo and Teacups ride, as well as the Monorail and a set of Disney Weebles. Remember, 'Weebles wobble but they don't fall down'? Okay that may be too old a reference for some folks, but a few will remember it! I had to eventually sell that Weebles Disneyland set in the '90s when I needed money.

Okay, so here I am at Disneyland in 1972!! Yes, 1972! I was 4 years old on this trip.

My grandmother is on the right, holding my hand, and two of her church friends are on the left of the photo.

Here I am with the church friends:

My early interaction with characters:

I am not sure what happened to the pictures from 1973, but one of my grandmother's friends must have taken them. But here is a picture from DLR 1974. I am standing with my little friend Stacie and two ladies from church. Surprisingly, I am wearing a Donald Duck shirt and not a Mickey shirt. I guess Donald made more of an impression on me in 1972 than Mickey did!:

From 1975, here are Stacie and I again. You never see the Walrus anymore at all.:

With my grandmother:

On the Storybook Land Boats:

On Dumbo (before Dumbo had water):

Up in the Treehouse:

From 1976, with my friend Yvonne:

From 1977. I was about 9 years old. Who dressed me like that? Yikes!:

Here we are at the Blue Bayou. That's my grandmother next to me and her friends Mary and Martha next to her:

On the Tom Sawyer's Island Raft, with someone named Susan...she was someone's niece (I am guessing this photo was snapped by someone who was riding the Mark Twain):

And from 1978, with my friend Darlene. Notice my exciting Shaun Cassidy shirt (that is a very '70s thing):

Here I am in 1979 with my family friend, Mary G.:

Here I am with some friend named Jenny (not the Jenni you have already seen in my pictures):

Here is another one of Mary/Maire from 1980:

And more from 1981 of whoevere these friends were that I went to DL with!:

And that's about all I can drum up as far as OLD pictures for now. Everything else will have to be from 2007 and later from here on out! You have now seen MANY (but not all) of my DLR trips from 1972 to 2008! That is 37 years of Disneyland visits....well, more or less! There are several trips that I seem to have NO photos of, so I will always wonder what those looked like.

Isn't it amazing how much the characters costumes have improved over time?

Yep. They have improved 1000 percent, but subtly and gradually over the years. Like I didn't notice from year to year that the costumes were changing, but now we can go back and look at my '70s stuff and see what they looked like, then skip ahead to the '90s pictures I posted and see a difference, and then look at everyone's stuff from the last couple of years and see that the costumes have indeed been improving ever so slightly as the years progressed. Mariezp pointed out that they even looked substantially different in the the '90s versions compared to today's versions, let alone going all the way back to 1972!

Marie, just in case you are still out there, I checked that one picture from 1994 that you asked about in which I thought it was Don Karnage (only because Courtney had identified Don Karnage in one of my other pictures) and matched it against one of my PhotoPass pictures with villains from October 2008 that featured Don Karnage, and it is definitely Don Karnage in both shots. He is not from Pinocchio nor is he the Big, Bad Wolf. Funny, back in 1994, when Don Karnage was actually on TV, I thought I was getting a picture with the Big Bad Wolf because I never watched those shows on the Disney Channel!!

...And now that I am done posting all of my ancient DLR pictures from childhood in the '70s, I have to decide if I feel like scanning all of my old Bret Michaels/Poison pictures because, as I was telling Jasmine, Bret's partner/assistant asked me if they could use some of my pictures for the autobiography that Bret is doing with Simon and Schuster this spring, as well as for the Bret Michaels website. They don't want to pay me and they are not even sure if I would get a photo credit, but they want pictures from the old days because "it would help to tell Bret's story better and more fully." Of course, once I do that they would have the right to do whatever they wanted with my pictures forever and I would not profit in any way, ever. So I am not too sure about that. I don't feel any obligation to Bret now, after all these years. I know I haven't talked to Bret in AGES, but it amazes me that someone who is now rich and famous and has a hit show on VH1 still has that 'garage band' mentality of wanting to get whatever he can get from people for nothing. It's not like he is broke (and I am broke!). That is what musicians and bands in general do - they sponge off of people and that is how they survive. You would think that once someone had some money and needed something, they would say, 'If you give us X number of photos, we will pay you X number of dollars,' but no such luck. Everybody wants something for nothing, so I am not sure what I am doing about that yet. I could let them have SOME pictures but not all of them. I just don't know if it's worth it if I am not even going to get a photo credit. Bret hooked up with enough women in his early days - he should be able to find one of them and get her to hand over her photos.....for free!

I know! Now, I bet if Courtney looks real hard, as does Marie and everyone else, they can scrounge up some under-the-tree Mickey pictures too! We can start a whole separate thread for Mickey under the tree photos! My Mickey was giant, wasn't he? He was almost as tall as I was! And he was that weird-looking older Mickey too, where the face was kind of 'off.' I think I have a picture somewhere where I am trying to dance with him! Anyway, we know we were, as you said, brainwashed at an early age, so there was no escaping the love of the Mouse. It is etched into the fabric of who we are, Jasmine, whether we like it or not!

Yes, I don't know what I am going to do with Bret and his assistant and the pictures. As I said, I could give them SOME pictures and keep some, but it just irks me that they can't even guarantee a photo credit on HIS OWN WEBSITE!!!!! How can Bret not guarantee something on a website that he runs (through the partner/assistant)? That makes no sense. As I said, people try to get something for nothing when they have that 'garage band mentality'.

I...can't...stop...using...exclamation...points... .!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't they have to change to Playboy or something to publish those types of pictures

Sorry I had to! Wow what a story you have going on here! I have literally been going through your whole thread the past two days and you have some great pictures and stories! I love seeing all the places that have changed, the fashions and the characters. It's fun because you can see by the later shots what was the newest coolest movie or show which is quite a trip down memory lane.

I have to say reading this whole thread it was funny seeing my name briefly mentioned, I thought for a second did I post and forget hahaaha! Glad I have been mostly a good kid here

I also have to say on the babies in DLR I am going to be one of those insane people! I think some of those parents are locals with AP's I mean for me it's the cost of gas and food, I can take my time and cruise the parks. I might change my mind when baby gets here, but my good friend whose DH works at DTD took her 3 month old, but she did great and she carries him all the time anyway. She went to take pictures of him in DL, her older daughter wanted to go, she had an AP and almost all her friends have AP's so it's just a day in the parks for her (Yes we are spoiled!!!!!)

Again thank you so much for sharing your pictures! You have so inspired me to try and dig out my old Disney pictures!!!!

Hi, Fairycat!!! Glad to see you over here! Wow! Thank you for taking the the last couple of days to comb through the thread! That's quite an undertaking. I really appreciate it.

Now you have me wondering...I have totally blanked out. When did I mention you? Was it when Kaoden39 and I were discussing the controversial Haunted Mansion Holiday thread? I think that was the night when that thread was getting heated and I escaped over to my TR thread. That must have been it. I think I was explaining to Michele (Kaoden39) that you and Pixiewings71 and I were in agreement on the HMH issue or some such thing - is that right? It seems like it was months ago that I was posting that, but in reality it was only a couple of weeks ago, or even last week! My memory is fading fast!

Yes, I suppose many of Bret's former 'flames' would have pictures that were a bit on the risque side or worse (it wasn't difficult to get that sort of picture because band guys are generally pretty raunchy), but he had a lot of women hanging around the house in the old days with cameras, and certainly some of them snapped pictures of the band just chillin'. I just don't know if I want to turn over my pictures to him/them for their use and basically get nothing.

Oh Lord, the fashions in the old DLR pictures - yikes! Don't remind me. I am sure my friends don't want to be reminded either. I cringe when I see some of the pictures, but they are fun because they are from Disneyland. The characters' costumes have definitely evolved and improved 100% over the years. And it IS funny to see the little cheap-looking photo op displays that Disney used to put up to promote their 'current' movies, as well as the ones that made no sense like the 'astronaut' display and the 'Cowboy Donald' display. Unless I missed them in my last 4 trips to DLR, I have not seen any cheap photo op displays anywhere. The last one I recall seeing was the Hunchback one back in 2000/2001, but I don't know when they officially stopped putting them up. But to think that Dick Tracy was once the hot movie with its own photo op displays, and now there is not a trace of Dick Tracy anywhere in the park, it is kind of funny. He actually may kind of fit in now somewhere in the Hollywood area of DCA, if they ever wanted to work him in, but he never really fit in Disneyland. You know what I mean? And as Mariezp said earlier, Dick Tracy was creepy looking!

Well, more power to any women who can walk all around DLR with their baby in their arms!! Maybe it is not as scary as it looks to me. See, I am such a klutz that the first thing I think of is, 'Oh if I were carrying a baby around in my arms in DLR, I would drop the poor child when a crowd engulfed us.' I would be too afraid of injuring my baby because I am constantly bumping into things and dropping things! As long as the moms can enjoy themselves while carrying the baby and it is just another day in the parks, then that's great. I just wondered how easy it was for the women to do that, but it may be easier than I think it is. And if you have help in the form of a traveling companion, even better!

Yes, dig up the old photos, Fairycat! I have started a craze. Jasmine (WazowskiLOVER) posted her old DLR pictures on her thread and hopefully, Courtney and Marie are out there digging up some of theirs. Travelmel, Kaoden39 and Bumbershoot - you all must have some old DLR pictures too! I personally like to see pictures from ALL years. Even if someone went to DLR as recently as 2007 and the pictures are not from a current trip, I still want to see them! For me, it is fun to follow along with someone's history at Disneyland, and see how they themselves have changed over the years, how the park has changed, how the holiday stuff has changed, how the characters have changed, the shops/restaurants/rides, etc. that are no longer there, and see the different groups of people who accompanied the person on trips over the years.

Again, thanks for joining us/me over here! I am glad you enjoyed the pictures/Trip Report.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! I hope all of you who are partnered up with someone get to do something sweet and romantic today - even though it is a holiday that many people scoff at or frown upon, it is still a holiday of a sort and holidays are fun!!

I know Disneyland sells some Valentine's Day merchandise here and there (not a ton of it, but some) but I wonder if there are any special little Valentine's decorations they put up anywhere. I know they don't get extravagant with it like they do for the holidays and Halloween, but do they put anything up at all? Some random hearts here and there? Little Cupid Mickeys on the lampposts? Anything?

Hi Sheerrryyyy!!

Those pictures are SO flippin' cool! I love them and you look so adorable!!

I love the Alice in that picture with you! She's cute!

My parents are at our old house right now (we just moved) and I called her and asked her to bring the boxes of old pictures so I can go through them. We don't have our scanner anymore, but Jesus has one. So I'll use his!

Hi, Courtney! Thank you! I am glad you like the pictures from the '70s - I mean, none of us who were around in the '70s looked GOOD in any way, shape or form, but it is always amusing to see ourselves as kids at Disneyland. That Alice I got in the picture was cute - some of them these days look kind of on the odd side. And I never see the Walrus anymore - I don't know when he stopped showing up at Disneyland. I like looking at the people in the background who are inching towards us, trying to jump in on our picture action. Just wait your turn, fools!

Yes, use Jesus' scanner and start posting older DLR pictures! I want to see them all! It is a big pain to scan and upload and post, but I think we all appreciate seeing everyone's pictures so much on DIS that hopefully it will be worthwhile for you!

I thought the characters in my old Disneyland pictures looked a little underdeveloped. Have you looked at the DLR Nostalgia Pictures thread? Yikes! Someone just posted a picture of an ancient Mickey and Minnie, with small, human-sized bodies and ginormous heads!
