Hi - we will arrive at POFQ on Thursday
We have had some good luck faxing a room request just before our previous trips so want to do so tomorrow. We don't have any big requests or specific reasons for requests like last 2 trips when we travelled with my MIL who couldn't walk a long way to bus stops so this time its just a request based on preference alone - no big deal if they cannot fulfill...

Anyways, we would like a nice, quiet room - prefer not to be near pool, and were thinking about building 6. Is this a good choice? What about building 1? I think that we booked standard - can we get one of these buildings with courtyard views in that case or will we necessarily have to overlook the parking lot?

Thanks!!!

In terms of the booking category of "standard room," all that means is that it's not a water view room. Therefore, it doesn't have to be a parking lot view ... it can be a courtyard view also.

So sorry to hear about your dad, I hope he's at least comfortable rather than in too much pain.

All they need to do is prefix the US cellphone number with "+1" and then the rest of the ten-digit number, and it should work.

It's worth trying it out before you go though, so you know it works. If you want to PM me your number, I can try it out from my UK mobile phone for you.

Thanks for your kind thoughts I hadn't even thought about texting - I'm probably one of the few people in this world who uses their phone for a phone rather than for texts ! I've e-mailed my sister to ask her to send a test text - we'll see how that goes !!
Hopefully while I'm at POFQ, I'll be able to send live reports back to all you wonderfully helpful people !!! 4 days !!!!

UPDATE !!!! - my sister just texted me and it worked fine, so that will be perfect in case she needs me in a hurry - thanks for the idea !!!!

Just returned last night and we stayed in Building 6. If you don't want a parking lot view, this is a great building to request as it is only courtyard/garden or waterview. We had booked a standard room, but I did request courtyard/garden view. I also requested 3rd floor and a corner room with two windows.

I got 3rd floor in building 6 and it was a "corner room" but not one of the ones with 2 windows. Not a big deal. The best part, however, was that it was a water view room with a perfect view of the Sassagoula!

I did on-line check in and I noticed on my folder there was a little sticky note on the corner that said something like "Check requests". I don't have the folder with me so I'm not sure of the exact wording.

I have stayed in Bldg. 1 as well and it is very quiet, but it does have parking lot views. One of the best things about POFQ is that no matter which building you are in, it is still a very short walk to everything.

Hey disneyfan61

I will keep an eye out for you at the pool (it will be my DD and I for our Mother-Daughter trip ) I can't wait to enjoy the warm weather, it seems it's been a bit cloudy and rainy here lately in the Northeast

I will have to carry around my LGMH that I made for previous trips

AND

Thank you Andre for clearing up that internet "hotspot" mystery for me, I appreciate all your helpful information!!!!!

Connecting rooms question

My apologies, as I am sure this has likely been asked before. But from my quick browsing I did not find the answer.

We have two families going down in July to POFQ. One consists of myself and my daughter (just the two of us), and the other is a family of 3. We want to be next to each other - does not necessarily have to be adjoining rooms, but next to each other would be best (my daughter and their daughter are friends).

IF, I wanted a King room for me and my dd (8), do those rooms ever adjoin with other rooms? And is there more room to move around in king rooms, is that why people like them? are the king rooms always corner rooms or no?

Thanks so much in advance!

I just booked my trip for POFQ July 13th thru 18th!. I had scheduled it for 13th thru 17th at POP but since the new discount became available online I was able to book POFQ for only 184 more! I'm so excited, this is my first mod resort.

That's what I did--started at POP, moved it to POFQ for $200 more. WE'll be there July 9-15.

I didn't know you can check in on line - is this worthwhile when you are taking the ME from the airport to your hotel anyway? I was going through the online check in questions and I don't see any spot for requests other than checking off a pack-n-play or refrigerator. Is there a spot I am missing to make a building request in on-line check in?

No, there is no place to make building requests during on-line check in. I made my reservations on line, but then I called Disney directly and had my requests added to my reservation.

This is the sticker that was on my folder at check in:

ashleyrm, thanks so much for all your help!
We did the on-line check in and then faxed our request for building 6.
I may also call tomorrow (day before we leave - I can't believe it!) just to double check that they got it.

Can't wait for our first POFQ stay and to be back in the World!!!

How is the bus service at POR?

What is the bus service like, should I plan on renting a car? We have previously stayed at Fort Wilderness and wished we had gotten a car, because it took FOREVER getting anywhere.
