This is our first time staying at POFQ, starting on 11/12. I've read many posts stating that the boat to DTD is always full. Is there a bus that goes from POFQ to DTD?

Yes, there's a bus. But we've never had a problem in the past with the boat, give it a try, you'll like it.

Wink POFQ rehab

From a very reliable dedicated POR/POFQ website..

French Quarter room rehabs are starting around now, as we already knew, followed by Riverside. Two buildings are to be done at a time, for speed.
The rooms will be completely gutted and fully renovated (including replacing bath tubs, basins, etc). New small cupboards with drawers will be added to the bathrooms. Flat screen TVs will be added on dresser-style units, with drawers underneath, and the old Riverside tall armoires will be removed.

I also heard that the bedside tables will be made smaller (18 inches wide) to allow for... bigger beds! So hopefully we’ll finally get Queen beds.

French Quarter would be started first (pretty much imminently) and would be completely finished by April 2011. She also mentioned that she had seen samples of the new carpet and it looked fabulous.

I've just created a new page to document any news and updates on the refurbishments, see www.portorleans.org/rehab.php for the latest info I managed to pick up over the weekend (including details of the already-completed test room).

Has anyone ever called and specifically requested a "newly refurbished room"? I feel kind of silly calling and asking, but I would really like one.

If building 7 is going to be completed maybe we should just ask for a room there! I want one too!

I would love one too. My question is, are they goin gto wait until they complete the entire building before they open any of the rooms to guests?? I just don't see them being done with the building before our stay. We have requested buliding 4, and I hate to change it if there is no chance of getting a refurbed room. Do you guys think it would be too much to say refurbed room if possible, if not building 4?

Until the whole Bldg is done I wouldn't want to be in an area where I couldn't go to every side of the Bldg since the elevator is only on one side and often it's closer using 1 set of stairs towards the bus and another towards the food court.
