I am looking as well. Have seen a Canon, Fuji, two Olympuses and a Kodak camcorder that also took stills.

We have the Olympus Stylus Tough 3000 12MP and are very pleased with it. It's very durable which is great with kids and the pictures are fantastic.

Also, check out drycasedotcom, they have a case which goes over your current digital camera and vacuum seals it to keep out the water and sand. I have ordered one and am waiting for it to come in. I am hoping it works because I am planning on using it on my cruise next year!

We have this one:

In green We use it in our pool, and used it at Castaway Cay last week. We love it. It also takes good video. We got it at and after a coupon and free shipping, it was $140. I think you can get it for under $200 at most places. Always check, as well.

I have an Olympus that I love. Takes really nice pictures and has a feature that you can use when snorkeling that lets you just tap the top/sides of the camera to change settings, take the pic etc, eliminates fumbling to turn dials/push buttons when you can't see all that well. You do have to rinse it off with freshwater after it has been in saltwater so I keep a big bottle of water on the beach just for this.

My brother had the Canon D10 on a southern Caribbean we took this past April. It took outstanding photos above and below the water...some of the pics he got while snorkeling/free diving of fish/coral/sea turtles are incredible! We're planning to get this camera before our 10/2010 cruise this fall.

I hope you don't mind, let me know if this bothers you, but don't give up on a picture that isn't perfect.. You can do a lot with software these days. I took your picture, and did a few simple corrections in Adobe photoshop Elements ($99), and this is what your picture now looks like: (and if you are willing to spend more than 5 minutes on it, it could be made even better)..

I have the Olympus 8000 tough 12 MP that I bought last fall for use on our DCL and underwater photos at Castaway Cay. Unfortunately, I have few underwater photos (weather did not cooperate on the cruise and water here in the northeast is usually cloudy), so I don't have much to show for underwater quality.

The videos and normal stills were great quality, and it held up well. Until our 11 year old daughter took it to the beach (see earlier post). I took my chances and sent it back to Olympus to have it checked, and just found out today via their user friendly website that the repairs are covered under warranty and they plan to ship the camera back on Friday.

I just wanted to update all here that I am very impressed so far with Olympus warranty service (the camera was purchased nearly a year ago in early September, right down to the finish line on the one year warranty period).
There is nothing more depressing than editing your signature line to remove a countdown sticker and have no new trips planned to replace with a fresh countdown ;-(

Does anyone have a housing for their Canon T2i? Which brand? Do you like it? etc.
