Confused regarding to character dining and the dining plan

Hello, I'm new to the forum and have finally scheduled our trip to WDW for March 15-21st, 2009!!! YEA!!! My ? is we have the delux dining so that is 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. We are planning on doing some character dining at Chef Mickey's and Cinderella Table. So how does this work. Chef Mickey's is 1 TS meal credit so will they actually take 2 from us? 1 for the meal and 1 for the character? If so and it is that way then Cinderella would actually be 3 for that meal? I would appreciate it very much if someone would explain this to me. I can't wait till we are there! 6 months and 23 days to go.

they don't take extra credits for the characters. Chef Mickey's is a 1 table credit meal, each person is charged 1 credit for their meal. Cinderella's Royal Table is a 2 credit meal. The number of credits had nothing to do with the characters being present.

Welcome to the DIS.

No, Chef Mickey's is only 1 TS credit per person. They don't charge you an extra TS credit just for the characters on any meal. Hence, Cinderella's Royal Table is 2 TS credits per person.

No, no, no...

If a restaurant is 1 TS, it is 1 TS whether or not there are characters there. There are several character meals that are just 1 TS per person. Including for example Chef Mickey's, Tuskey House breakfast, Park Faire, Akershus Princess meals in Norway/Epcot, and so on.

Cinderella's Royal Table (meals in the castle) are 2 TS because they are called "special dining" (because they're in the castle.) So you get charged 2 TS per person on those.

There are other 2 TS restaurants called "signature dining"...at places like the California Grille. In general, if you look at the menus of "signature dining" places you'll find the costs are higher (entrees in the $35+ range, desserts $10, etc.)

There are also 2 TS "dinner show" meals like the Hoop De Doo Revue and the Luau at the Polynesian. Those cost the 2 TS because you're getting a show with your meal.

Hope that helps!

CRT is the only two credit character meal. If you eat at CRT, you must use two of your meal credits to pay for that one meal. All other character meals cost 1 credit.

It costs two credits because it is considered "signature dining" which is Disney speak for "more expensive." CRT is expensive because of its location, not the food or the characters.
