Air Tran 2nd Checked Bag Fee Question - The DIS Discussion Forums

We booked our flight in March I think? I just read that Air Tran is now charging a fee for your second checked bag. BUT, it did say it was for tickets purchased after Aug. 18...

So would I be correct in assuming that each of us can still bring TWO checked bags with NO extra charge????

If anyone knows about this, I'd appreciate your help...navigating Air Tran's website is a little overwhelming for me!

Airtran's policy is below. That said, I know that there was a time when you got two free bags, and you may have purchased before they changed the rules. I don't remember when they changed them; perhaps call the airline and find out from them?

Free Baggage Allowance

For each fare-paying customer, AirTran Airways will allow one (1) checked piece free of charge, with size and weight limitations. Through September 17, 2008, the charge for a second checked bag will be $10 when paid using Online Check-In or $20 when paid at the airport kiosks and ticket counter. Effective September 18, 2008, for reservations booked on August 14 or later, the charge for a second checked bag will be $25.

I'd double check the dates. We booked our flights in June I think and we will be charged for a second bag.

You won't find that info on that date on the airtran website. However, if you purchased your tickets prior to April 11th, the second bag will be free. If you bought online, log into your airtran.com account and view the itinerary and it will tell you the booking date. Feel free to write back if you have any further questions.
