UPC's, Proof of Purchase, etc.

I remember growing up, my mom would keep a drawer in the kitchen that was, literally, devoted to collecting soup labels, UPC's, proof of purchases, etc. Some of these were from cereal, pop tarts, kool-aid, you name it! I just got thinking the other day that the only thing I save are the Campbell's soup labels & Box Tops for Education as my daughter's school collect both... Do companies still do things when you collect so many proofs of purchase, etc.? I think Hawaiian Punch used to do something, I want to say Kraft mac 'n' cheese had some kind of proof of purchase or point system... What's out there? What companies have deals for collecting UPC's or Proof of purchases? Just curious... Thanks!

I know Kool_Aid still does point stuff- on the little packs, the large quart size containers and even the drink pouches have points to save and then visit the site or pick up an order form at the grocery store display-

Pop Tarts are also usually offering something at all times w/ UPC labels

Yoplait yogurt does the pink tops to send in for breast cancer awareness- I think around Sept/Oct time frame same as BCA month

As for school rewards, I think Box Tops & Campbells are the only ones- Wish I knew if any other school/education ones were out there- I save all of these and my kids will cut out the UPC's on food before they are even open to be eaten (I DO hate that) lots of cut up boxes in my cabinet- LOL

Here at the schools we have:
Box tops for education
and the soda can tabs for Shriners (although I don't know what they do with them )

As far as what else, I usually watch out for rebates which require rcpt and UPC's so receipts go in a shoebox too! Hotcouponworld.com has a total section devoted to "give me my money back" with rebates that are out there for different products.

My recent find was Kelloggs products - purchase 10 in a single transaction get a $10 rebate. Shaws supermarket had Kelloggs products 10/$25 - not too bad at $2.50 per box. I got 9 boxes of cereal, 1 box of yogos for my 10 products. Less $8 in mfg coupons so I paid $17 out of pocket for the 10 items and will get back another $10 of that = $7 for 9 boxes of mini wheats (DD, DS, & I eat them for breakfast & a nightime snack too and they don't exp. till 6/09) and 1 box of yogo's I'll give them as a treat or for school snacks.

I found once I started watching the rebate posts you found that certain products generally come out with rebates and knew what you could safely toss and what was a good one to keep. The only other thing I check is the back of products for offers like "get a free book wyb 2" type things. Not that I send in every one but some of the offers can be pretty good ~ a pasta sauce offered buy 3 get 1 free where you send in the receipt for the 3 you purchased and they send you a coupon for a free jar.

This is such great news! I didn't know this about hotcouponworld.com! I am a member, but only use them for coupons. Interesting... And, if I can ask, what is 'Shriners'? I hadn't heard anything about collecting soda can tabs before... Thanks so much!

Ronald McDonald House also collects pop tops. Apparently the aluminum is more concentrated in the tops than the can itself. They use it as a fundraiser. They even have a little cardboard house that they will give you to collect the tops in.
