How Many Nights at Portofino Bay?

To truly enjoy the hotel, pool, and universal itself for a firstime visitor? Struggling to pick between a 3 night or 4 night stay at the expense of a night away from the disney part of my trip (going in late oct during halloween nights but will NOT attend the horror night party)

To truly enjoy it all, 4 nights would be better. Three is okay if you are just focusing on the parks, but 4 will allow you to spend some time at the resort as well. I am saying that pre-diagon alley...

If you choose Universal Orlando for that day, I would visit Universal Studios in the morning and Islands of Adventure in the evening as it closes later (7PM weekdays and 8PM weekends). This would allow you to maximize your time.

i'm there in october for 12 days staying onsite and checked the park closing dates this morning.

IOA is closing at 8:00 pm on all mondays, tuesdays and a hit or miss for the other weekdays.

i'm guessing they expect more crowds since they have later hours for the parks in october.

wasn't that way last year.

You are correct . They changed the hours in the last couple of days. We are staying at PBH Club (our 16th stay) in September and they extended the hours from 7 to 8:30 with both parks now closing at the same time. Must be expecting higher crowd levels.

Since it is your first time, I would stay 4 nights. PBH is my favorite resort in all of UO and WDW. (I've stayed at all Wdw deluxe resorts and DVC except VGF). Enjoy this beautiful resort, it's pools and activities. The have dive in movies every night. Also the Music of the Night singing from the balcony in the piazza. DH always grabs me and starts dancing.Don't forget to spend some time in Citywalk too. Great restaurants and shops. Enjoy your trip!

I say stay the 4 nights. You can have a late dinner on the last night after the parks close, very Italian! And since you're already a WDW pro, take time to explore the darkside where there are new and exciting things to see and do.

With more days comes more time to stop and smell the roses. You don't have to commando tour, and you can tour without feeling rushed or like you might miss something. You can see all the shows, explore Diagon Alley and all the shops there at leisure, and taste test all the flavors of ice cream at Florean Fortescues Ice Cream Parlor.

Ok im about to add a night and make it 4 nights. The only thing im hesitating on now is thinking there isnt much to do after 8 each night. I love the evenings n sleep in in the mornings. Disney has parades and fireworks at 10 and 11, i feel like ill be bored after a couple nights at city walk. Thoughts?

One thing that we have learned by visiting Universal over the last decade is that you accomplish a lot at the parks in a short amount of time using express pass. We have been visiting Disney since the 70's and WDW makes us feel as if it takes a lot more time to accomplish very little...especially with the new changes and the extraordinarily high crowds. We always felt like we had to go commando and do things late into the night to experience everything. What you may find at Universal is that you will feel less like having to do things later in the evening. I just wanted to set a good expectation, but it may be that you really enjoy doing things at night. Here are some of the things that we enjoy:

1) Dive-In Movies - They setup a large screen by the pool where you can swim and watch movies at night. The bar is usually open with food and drinks.
2) Musica Della Notte - In the harbor piazza they have Italian music/singing. We enjoy listening to the music while having a bottle of wine.
3) Visiting Other Resorts - We enjoy spending time shopping or dining at the other on-site resorts.
4) Mandara Spa - We really enjoy the spa as it is our favorite.
5) Pool Hopping - Keep in mind that you may freely visit HRH and RPR resort pools.
6) City Walk - We tend to enjoy the parks during the day and have a late dinner when the parks close and do some shopping. There is live music at the main stage and they also have a theater.

I will let you know if I think of anything else and I hope you enjoy your trip.

You could go to a different resort each night for dinner.

You could go to the Blue Man Group show one night.

You could play mini golf on one of the two courses.

You could explore your resort.

Just relax by the pool with drinks and a snack while you watch the dive in movie.

Then like you said- there is CityWalk.

You won't be bored. : )
