Panama Canal Cruise Picture - The DIS Discussion Forums

Hi,

We are still in the afterglow of the May 2008 Canal Cruise on the Magic. For us it was the trip of a lifetime. There was one minor thing that was a bit of a disapointment and we wonder if there are any DisCruisers out there who could help.

As you may know there was a submarine going through the Canal at the same time the Magic went through. It was very exciting watching it go through next to our ship. The only unfortunate result of this was the fact that the helicopter was unable to fly and take pics of the Magic going through the canal. I had hoped to buy a pic at Shutters.

Anyone out there have a pic taken from the helicopter on the 2005 trip they would be willing to share. Another possibility would be one of the lucky folks going through on the August cruise.

The people who shared our dinner table with us had like many people on the cruise gone through back in 2005. I was a bit surprised that people would go back so soon. Now that we have gone on the cruise I fully understand why people would do it again. Given the chance I would go with you lucky folks in August. We will just have to wait till our 4 day cruise on the Wonder in December

There was actually a photograph taken of us on this last PC cruise. Some of us bought them at Shutters. There was some debate about whether it was a copy of the 2005 one, but the actual webcam of our ship shows it is us. I will ask over on our cruise thread for someone to post a copy for you.

I would be back on the cruise in a heartbeat. It has taken some getting over I can tell you.

We think the ship photographers went off on a jaunt. Some folk saw them get back on the ship later.

We did follow the sub through, but as they said only one boat/ship could go through the cut at one time... thus by then, the sub wasn't with us anymore. They were able to get a shot from an observatory along the way.

I have same photo that I bought it from shutter.

I am glad that I bought it as it is my great memory.

I understand how you feel but remember we had enjoyable times on 15 days on Westbound. We were so lucky to had beautiful weather well. Just a bad luck that sub m. had spoilt our cruise that no live web cam and cancelling the helicopter. I told all my friends to watch on web cam for our cruise.

They were up and never saw it. Sadly.

I think Disney cruise had trying their best as live band, bbq, and good activities well.

It was a great memory and it was awesome well.

OH and who needed a pesky helicopter buzzing us all through the canal??? Someone would have complained... I don't know who... but someone would have...

Oh, what great pictures. I never looked in Shutters and didn't realize that they were selling these.

I would have definitely bought one. What a wonderful cruise it was. I want to go back.

I also bought the same pic (that Tink Rules posted) at Shutters - along with many others!

But they are all worth every penny spent - all our friends and family have commented on how good the Shutters photos are.

One of our table mate's on the WB is also going on the EB - wish we were bringing the Magic back with her!
