Vegan Unplugged: Dining Disney Style
My Girlfriend & I just got back from our trip to Walt Disney World. It was her first trip, my 9th!
I'm a Vegan and she is a Vegetarian - Here is a showcase of our various meals at Disney! ![]() the Maya Grille's vegetable and grain platter. ![]() Dessert at the Maya Grill ![]() the food at crystal palace was so good, we forgot to photograph the first round before wolfing it down! lots of veggies and casseroles, and cinnamon and lemon infused rice. delicious! ![]() round two at the crystal palace. yellow curried noodles and veggies. mmm! ![]() California grill. this was the mushroom flat bread with onion. so delicious. ![]() What's left of my peach and candied pecan salad with a sweet lemon vinaigrette. (California grill) ![]() the most delicious avocado roll of sushi i had ever tasted. the avocado was actually...juicy! (California grill) ![]() and the famous dish that gave this post the name...vegan unplugged! they pass the empty plates around the kitchen and each chef gets to create their own little vegan plate. (California grill) ![]() we forgot to take pictures of our breakfast in Norway, but there were some fantastic gluten free vegan waffles and some kick-*** french fries! (we got some of the waffles at the grocery store...yum!) ![]() then lunch in morocco. here's the vegetarian plate with couscous, lentil salad, tabbouleh, and bread. ![]() and you can't go to morocco and not have hummus and flat bread chips! delicious. ![]() we found a vegan milkshake in 1950! Hollywood studios 50's prime time cafe, rice dream vanilla milkshake. ![]() and we also found a vegan stuffed pepper full of flavor and grains (and veggies, of course!) (50's prime time) ![]() off to Germany for another buffet lunch. regular salad, rosemary potatoes, beet salad, tomato salad, and bread! delicious. (biergarten) ![]() and you can't forget the beer! (biergarten) ![]() delicious Indian appetizer in Britain! Somosa's stuffed with potatoes, spice, and veggies, dipped in either a chili or mango sauce. yum! (rose and crown) ![]() curried vegetables and grains at the rose and crown. ![]() a dish of rice dream vanilla! ![]() probably our favorite dish of the trip. deep fried green beans in a sweet and sour chili sauce at the yak and yeti. we're calling them to get this recipe. (animal kingdom) ![]() Lauren's honey glazed tofu with veggies and jasmine rice. (yak and yeti, animal kingdom) ![]() and my tofu with rice noodles and veggies at the yak and yeti. (animal kingdom) ![]() delicious jasmine rice! (y&y) ![]() the salad at jiko's. each vegetable had it's own layer! a tower of veggies with a tangy dressing. ![]() voila! an actual vegan menu! ![]() my tofu, veggies, and grains. it seems we had a lot of tofu, veggies, and grains...but we really didn't! and each dish tasted remarkably different. i just cant remember all of the spices and sauces :P And there you have it...an amazing culinary adventure through Disney World! |

I love your thread. A coworker of mine and her husband are both vegan and she laments that it is so hard to travel and find food that they can eat. I keep telling her that Disney will bend over backward to accomodate dietary needs but she isn't convinced. I can't wait to show her your pics. Thanks again!

I have a couple questions:
Your entrees at Yak & Yeti--were they special orders or did you find that on the menu? Also, the tomato, cucumber, and onion salad that you had at Jiko---how was it? I was thinking of ordering that when we go to Jiko in October. Thanks!

Did you have to request the waffles before your meal, or where they just there? What else were you able to eat for breakfast? I would really like to go there, but I don't know if it would be worth it considering the price and the limited options for vegans.
