Yeah, yeah, I do. The thing is in NC you can't get a burger cooked below medium well, so when I'm in FL I go a little nuts. After the last review, tho, there's not a burger for a while. We were also paying OOP at this point, and burgers are cheap.

Pizzafari, Boma... wild times!

I promised no more burgers for a while, and I wasn't lyin.

We got up pretty early (for us) to hit AK, and we grabbed some toast in the room for breakfast - I have a strict "never leave the room with an empty tummy" policy for mornings. We waited a while on a bus, and being in the Springs area of SSR, the bus was already pretty full by the time it got there. I really missed not having a car for the first part of this trip.

Anyway. We got to AK, and it was humid. Sticky. Ugh. Mike got several pics, including this one...

We hit Everest twice, wandered around for a bit, then headed to Pizzafari for lunch. I'd never eaten there before (and obviously Mike hadn't), so I was a bit torn on what to order. I ended up getting the Italian sandwich, plain...

Ok, well. In case you haven't gathered by now, I generally like my sandwiches plain, but in this case... after seeing one of these babies fully loaded with pesto, roasted tomatoes, and even caesar salad, I actually wish I'd just ordered it the way it came. It was a little bit boring plain. The bread was good, though, kind of a muffaletta (sp?) style bread. I also got chips with it, and wish I'd gotten grapes - I didn't eat the chips, and ended up throwing them away because the bag took up too much room in my bag.

Mike got the pepperoni pizza...

He liked it. I didn't have a bite. He said it was good, filled his tummy, and the pepperoni wasn't too spicy. He didn't have much to say, so I guess that means he wasn't too terribly impressed or didn't hate it too much.

We got an order of breadsticks to split...

We both agreed that these were good. Hot, fluffy inside, garlicky, a lil crispy... my sandwich and his pizza weren't all that filling alone (prob. because I ordered my sandwich plain, silly girl), so the breadsticks helped round things out.

In a side note, I ordered the sweet tea they offer here, and it was very good! I'm super picky about sweet tea, and I really miss it at WDW. So if any of you are cravin' sweet tea, hit Pizzafari.

After lunch we found Nemo whilst singing about it, then we decided to head out. We were waiting in line for the SSR bus when I got the wild hair to show Mike AKL, so we hopped over into that line. We were wandering around the Lodge when Mike said, "Something smells good!" I told him it was Boma, and that I could maybe try to get us in for dinner if he wanted, rather than going for our 7:15 ADR at Artist Point. I told him my mom would kill me if we went to Boma without her, and he said, "Do it!" Cheeky.

It was about 4pm at this time, and they were able to get us in as the restaurant opened, at 4:30. I was happy, but a little nervous since I'd canceled Boma later in the week because I was afraid Mike wouldn't like it due to his extreme pickiness. Silly me.

I started with soup...

Sorry, forgot to take it until I started eating. Anyway, this was the chicken curry soup. I love the big chunks of chicken. Mike and I both agreed that the broth itself is a bit sweet, but I find that the nice, wheatie chunk of pita helps counter that.

My main plate...

It's a little messy, but that's Mike's fault. I have prime rib (cooked a lil more than I like), potatoes with affritude, ribs, couscous that Mike dumped on top of my potatoes and ribs, mac and cheese, curry tofu and greenbeans, and salmon. I loved the prime rib as always. One of my favorite things to do is mix the potatoes with the mac and cheese; it gives the mac and cheese some zip and cuts the spiciness of the potatoes. The ribs were wonderful. The curry tofu and greenbeans wasn't as good as last time; the tofu was still crispy and yummy, but the flavor of the dish wasn't there. I didn't really care for the salmon; I'm just starting to like salmon, so I was kind of taking a leap here.

Mike's main plate...

Potatoes with affritude, ribs, mealie bread, couscous, coconut rice, prime rib, mac and cheese. He didn't like the ribs; he thought they were too spicy. He loved the coconut rice, but he knew I wouldn't like it because I'm not a huge fan of coconut and he said it had a very strong coconut flavor. He really liked the potatoes and the prime rib, and he preferred mixing the prime rib with the mac and cheese. We both agreed that the mealie bread was *wonderful* - like the best corn bread you've ever had.

We didn't go back for seconds because Mike... doesn't... at buffets. I dunno, I think it's a cultural thing. I wanted more mac and cheese and prime rib, but I didn't want to make him sit there, so we moved on to dessert.

My dessert...

Pineapple cheesecake, banana bread pudding w/ vanilla sauce, zebra domes, and spice cake pyramid. The banana bread pudding here is one of my favorite desserts; I looove it. Warm, sweet without being too sweet, delicious. Of course the zebra domes are wonderful! The spice cake pyramid thingie was great, too; not too spicy, like a gingerbread, more just like... warm. And the icing on top provided a nice contrast. Oh, after all that I didn't even touch the pineapple cheesecake, and I normally love those.

Mike's dessert...

Zebra dome, coconut squares, chocolate mousse, flourless chocolate cake. Mike really loved the coconut squares, especially when he put the chocolate mousse on them. He liked the flourless chocolate cake, but it wasn't anything super special. He doesn't like coffee flavored foods, so I didn't tell him the zebra domes are actually coffee mousse: he loved it! He's sitting here now telling me, "I only had one!? I wish I'd had more..." When I told him later they were coffee, he said he couldn't taste it at all, just smooth, yummy chocolate.

All in all, Boma was a huge hit. Mike listed Yachtsman Steakhouse and Boma as his two favorite meals of the trip! Shows what I know, thinking he wouldn't like it...

Today's lessons: Plain isn't always better. Boma is universal yumminess!

Me too, and I just got back! I said to Mike earlier, "Hey, what would you think of a late January/early February trip to Disney?" Since I told him how much cooler it is then than in May, I think he's on board.

This is a problem. Going through all my food pics, then writing the reviews... it's making me very, very hungry!! I'm craving Boma right now. *sigh*

Great reviews and pictures! We love Boma, too. It's one of our favorite restaurants at WDW, & we don't even like buffets all that much. Breakfast at Boma is really good & definitely worth a try as well.

Thanks! Boma is the only Disney buffet we frequent (besides the occasional Cape May breakfast stop). It's just so yummy and always fresh. We did go for breakfast once, but it was Mother's Day and a MADhouse. We really need to try it again at a less crowded time.

Now if only I could convince DH to give BOMA a chance. He does not like buffets at all. We loved JIKO and our next trip is going to be all "New" places. I think BOMA would be a perfect fit.
