You cannot order a cake at GF and pick it up and they do not deliver. If you want a cake from the GF, you have to eat there.

Most Deluxe resorts have their own bakery for their guests. You can't go there and pick one up.

The only bakery you can pick up a cake from is the Boardwalk Bakery or the Magic Kingdom Main Street Bakery.
thank you for the info, I appreciate you reply-
So all of these nicer looking cakes I see pictures of I cant get, right? The Sarah Lee cake is the plain with writing on top? If I order one from CP ahead, will it still be the same basic sarah lee? Can I bring one myself into CP from Main street bakery?
I dont want to get all excited for his first birthday cake in WDW and get a basic frozen cake with his name on it,kwim?

How funny - we are going for our kids b-day too and our oldest is going to be 7 and our youngest is going to be 2.....I am looking for the same type of cake for the 4 of us too!!!

But I'm not sure which character or colors, etc. If anyone can give me some recommendations that would be great and if someone posted some pics of welcome cakes even better.
Now, onto some questions. How much are the edible images? And since there's 7 of us I'm pretty sure they'll be left over cake, can the restaurant hold the cake left for us until we leave later that night?
Quoting myself to add...how much time before the date should I call for a custom cake?

You can try to get a nice custom cake for your meal at CP. You'd call the cake hotline and ask what they can do. It would help if you have some idea of what you are looking for.

They (MK) can do custom cakes but most of the really fancy ones are from the GF.

If you get a cake for CP, it's coming from the MK bakery.

The Sarah Lee cake is the cake you order at the podium. You should be able to get a nicer cake by calling the cake hotline ahead of time.

In defense of the Sara Lee cake, I found it to be far more moist and delicious than the whipped-cream covered EasyBake Oven-looking thing you get at the podium at restaurants outside the Magic Kingdom!

Thank you so much! Your adorable birthday girl looks like she is really enjoying it as well. Think I just might go ahead and order it for my girls. Our ressie is early 8:05 but heck it is vacation isn't it?

Cake info - white/yellow cake with buttercream filling and icing. We have always called either the GF (when staying somewhere around the lagoon) or The Boardwalk Bakery and asked for the mini 2 tier wedding cake replica and asked that they make it like the larger ones that are included in the Fairytale Wedding packages. Since we were married there the mini wedding cake has always been perfect for us. The taste of their buttercream brings me back
I have always been told it's a single serving... but there is no way. We eat those cakes for days. It's so rich! Both bakeries have said it's 4" but after they slather it in buttercream it's bigger than that - plus the top tier.

from 2005 GF bakery

from 2007 BW bakery (sorry - bad yellow photo)

from 2008 BW bakery

Can these mini wedding cakes be ordered in custom flavors or just the stand yellow or chocolate? I want to order one for our anniversary dinner in May, but I'd like to get chocolate cake with amaretto mousse filling because that is what we had at our wedding. I'd be willing to order it slightly larger than the regular 4" size if need be. Also would you recommend the GF cake or the BW bakery cake or were they about the same? We're dining at the GF, but we're staying at BWV so I could easily walk over & pick up a cake from the bakery. Thanks for any input!

Taste??

So I have a question for you cake experts. What tastes better when ordering the cakes, I was tossing up between buttercream (we always get this at our Publix) or the Fundant (which I think looks prettier). Also an recommendations on the filling flavor? As much as I want a magical cake I want it to taste good!

I'd love to know what you find out. I'm thinking of ordering one for our anniversary too. It's the perfect size for us. I'd love to have it with carrot cake and cream cheese frosting! Yum!

For GF cakes, do you still call the cake hotline or the GF directly?

Hi Goofy Gal,

I was just on the GF thread on the resort forum and someone had just posted their experience with a cake from them.
