Wine to Europe?
Maybe someone here will know. If not, Bavaria has got to know!
![]() The woman that we are renting an apartment from in Munich is letting us check in very early. She made a comment in an email that maybe I could bring her a little surprise from my home country. So I was thinking a bottle of Finger Lakes wine would be cool as I live in the Finger Lakes region. I'm assuming I could pack one bottle in my suitcase? If so, do you think it would create any hassle for us? Obviously I'd need to wrap it very, very well. |

Well, first off Missy, you can buy wine at any grocery store in Munich (whoops, just realized that it wasn't for yourself and that you don't need an early morning tipple)
I don't recall your carrier, but United expressly forbids wine in checked luggage unless packed in a very specific molded container. Most other airlines are not so concerned about leakage. CarolA has taken wine back from Europe many times....

I brought a bottle back from France in checked luggage. On US Airways, of course it wasn't United... I just wrapped it in clothes.

Well I'll have you know that in the landlord's e-mail there was mention of not only a liquor store next to the apartment but a metzgerei as well! Who could ask for more--wine and meat. Life is Good!!!
We are flying United, so to heck with that. I have to come up with something else. Syracuse China? No, that could be even a bigger mess. LOL. I forgot United is your carrier, right? Could you put in a good word for us and get us upgraded to four of those pods.
