This is something we do as a family on every trip!!! We are all about our tea time.

[/QUOTE]

What is this? We go to tea every trip too and I never saw this on the menu or anyone eating it. It looks YUMMY - might have to try it.

I think I read your dining review, and I believe you said you didn't care for this. This is what I was thinking about ordering the next time I'm at Kona. Was it prepared poorly, or was it just not to your personal taste? TIA.

ETA - Also, is it just me, or does that tuna look a little too rare?

This is called Sally Lunn Bread.......it is served toasted with apricot preserves. This a very nice treat available as part of the Sally Lunn Tea or a' la carte.

Good memory! Yep, this was the worst meal of the trip and the one I was most excited about. I love fried green tomatoes The tuna was very rare, which I didn't mind. The fried green tomatoes were so hard you couldn't cut them. The tempura crab was mostly tempura with a tiny speck of crab. The wasabi hollandaise was missing the wasabi. The tuna was ice cold. The asparagus were good though, that's all I could eat. Three of us ordered this and couldn't eat it.

From the look of this dish, it is something I would love. I bet the tuna is meant to be served cold since it is served more like sashimi rather than a tuna steak. The asparagus also leads me to believe it is meant to be cold since that vegetable often is served straight out of an ice bath to maintain color and snap. Most people are put off by this style of service for tuna, but I love it......one of my favorite hors d' oeuvres is a cold seared rare tuna with wasabi cream and grated daikon radish on a wonton crisp; very wonderful little morsel!!!!

I was so excited about ordering this dish, I love all of the elements of it, especialy fried green tomatoes, unfortunately the tomatoes could not be cut. I asked about the temp of the tuna and was told it should have been closer to room temp.
