I don't post a lot on the DIS, mainly lurk but I just wanted to say that your statement right there marks one of the big differences I've noticed with this thread. The other day I saw someone, can't remember who, tell another person not to worry about reading through ALL the pages of this thread to just ask their question. That is so different from so many FAQ threads. And I think it shows just how different the people on this thread are.

We'll be at WL for the first time in less than a month and I can't wait. All the info & advice in this thread has really helped me tremendously. Thank you all for continuing to make this thread so friendly & helpful.

I was reading on the 1st page about something called the Magic Cookie Hour...does anyone have anymore info on this like what days, times, cost?? Also I want to suprise my husband when we go by renting a boat or a sea raycer or something, can I call ahead of time to schedule? I will not need the rental until later in the afternoon but I dont want to wait until the last minute and have nothing be available

I've been a long time lurker on this thread also, but never posted before. VWL is our DVC home resort and I'm sooooooo happy that it is. We love the VWL! I agree with the previous posters who talked about what a great thread and a great group of people this is. If I don't learn something new every time I visit, I at least get my WL fix that I need to keep me going until my next trip home. And everyone is always so friendly. A big thank you to everyone who contributes here. We're going back in Dec and I can't wait!

My question is: Which of the resort activities have you or your children done and how did you like them? My kids will be 5 and almost 2 on our next trip and I'm hoping we can fit in more time at the WL this trip.

Thanks
Molly

This thread is great!!! I do agree, it defintely has a friendly feeling to it. We are going in December of 2009 to the Lodge, and I cannot wait for the rates to come out so I can at least book. Although, I am not to sure what to book with all of the different room options. We will be traveling with my husband, and two daughters who will be 3 1/2 and 6 at the time, and my mom and dad. I will more than likely have to go back and read the room info again soon, as I am hoping that the rates for 2009 will be announced soon. I keep bugging my poor travel agent over at DU!!

Ethansmommy/Jennifer

The Magic Cookie Hours is between 2:00pm-3:00pm everyday at Roaring Fork there is no cost, free to all guest.

As far as the boat rentals go I have always just walked down to the Teton Boat & Bike Rental Marina and just rented whatever we wanted. You may be able to call the marina to reserve a larger boat but the Sea Raycers are first come first serve. Remember Boat Rentals are 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m. (Last boat rental at 4:45PM) Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon close at 5:00PM.

Thank you for the Magic Cookie Hours info! Somehow I missed that on the front page. That sounds like fun. We will be sure to check it out on our next trip there in October. Thanks!

Hi everyone!

I am so excited, I just booked the WL for December 13-17 and am hoping for a PIN. I have consistantly read wonderful things about this hotel, especially at Christmas, and am soooo excited.

My main reason for posting is that I booked us for a bunk bed room with the courtyard view...is it worth the upgrade or should I stick with the bunkbed room with woods view instead? What I am thinking is once our kids go to bed my DH and I might sit on the balcony. What do you all think?

I have to get my new counter figured out...sorry about the old halloween one from almost 3 years ago

Have not done the deluxe but have been on the 6th floor with the partially enclosed balcony and we actually like it better. You have some privacy you do not have with the open one. DH would go out and sit in his boxers with his coffee and love it as no one could see him. You can watch the light parade in your nightie and not worry that you are on parade.

Just wanted to add my gratitude as well...have been an on and off visitor here..last year this time I had WL booked for an Aug/Sept trip, and was afflicted with the changing of resorts disorder...lol...however, I am happy to say I will be there in AUg this year
My wish was to get Ava's photo next to the totem pole and watch her grow over the years (She will be 2)

ThankYou So Much For Your Input So Maybe Having An Enclosed Balcony Isn't So Bad Afterall

Where in Scotland are you? Just wondering. My Grandson is going in July for a Boy Scout function. My son will be taking him. They are so excited. Grandson even bought himself a kilt and is studying bagpipes. We have Scottish ancestry.

I'm Outside Edinburgh ( In What You Guys Call The Boonies ) I'm Sure That Your Grandson Will "LOVE" His Time At The Scout Function & In Scotland (Make Sure They Bring Waterproofs Though ) I Was In AZ A Few Years Ago,My Aunt Is A Snowbird There Getting Back To The WL,I Dont Think That It Will Bother Me Having An Enclosed Balcony,For All The Time That We Will Actually Be In The Room I Don't Think It Will Be A Big Issue
