What time do you get off the cruise ship on the day you leave?

I would like to book a 11:00 am flight home but have heard I should not book before 12noon. But last cruise I think I remember being on the bus to the airport by 8am that would get us to the airport by 9am which is good for a 11am flight.

What do all of you experienced people think?

Heather

I would be a bit hesitant about an 11am flight home. Usually you can get off the ship by 7:00-7:30 so you'd probably make it. If the ship is at all late, however, you'd definitely be pressed for time. We usually don't book a flight before noon, just to be on the safe side.

If no problems with disembarkation you could make it, we had no problems and were at the airport and checked in by 10:00am, but there could be issues that would make you miss it.

In Sept. we were off and at the airport by 9:15 in plenty of time for our 11:25 flight. We have sailed 4 times and have yet to be back into Port Canaveral after 6 am. They cruise extremely quickly at night because the turnaround time is so short. The only thing I would consider is not checking bags onboard and carrying them with you that way you know that they are on that bus with you and on your plane.

off the ship

We just got off this morning. The gangway opened at 730 if you didn't want breakfast. We had early dinner seating (6pm) so we had early breakfast which was at 0700. We were out of the dining room and off the ship by 830 and at our hotel by 900. You could probably make it just fine.

Is there a trip report in the making?

IF everything runs on schedule, the big doors open around 7:30 and all guests are supposed to be off the ship by 9. However, from the time the ship comes into port until it is "cleared," it is under the control of US Customs.

We were on cruise where the big doors didn't open until after 9. DCL brought out some of the entertainers and some of the kid counsellors to try to keep everyone happy (we were standing in a long line!). We never learned what the problem was, and once the doors were opened, things went smoothly.

I was also on a 9:30 flight after one cruise--we got to MCL for our 12:30 flight and were there early enough that the airline personnel suggested that we could take the earlier flight if we wished (let's think--sitting at airport with sleepy child who might become fussy child or getting on plane early...do I need to think?)

MCO is one of those airports that wants you there 3 hours early. Again, if you are checking luggage at the port, you are good. If you're not on a participating airline, you will stand in line to check luggage and again for security. I've had it take 20 minutes....and I've had a flight where 3 hours was none too long as the luggage line took forever.

DCL recommends not flying out before 12:30. I wouldn't hesitate to book 12:00, but anything earlier than that could backfire.

We got off the Magic yesterday and were in the Towncar at 7:45AM, got to the airport in plenty of time. We had to wait over 2 hours for our 11:55 AM flight. So....if everything goes according to plan, you should be OK.

They serve breakfast on the morning that you get off of the ship??

How do they work disembarking?? Man, my DH and I went on a Carnival cruise for our honeymoon and their process sucked. We got booted out of our room early, no breakfast and you were just thrown in the area outside of the casino to wait to get off...took HOURS

I have made it off at 7.35am and to MCO by 8.45am.

Basically if you have early dinner you go to early breakfast, if you go to late dinner you go to a later breakfast,. They encourage you to go to the assigned restaurants there is only a very limited service.

They usually open the doors about 7.30am, and you can skip breakfast if you want.

There isnt currently any disembarkation tickets, although there was talk of it in Barcelona but it never happened, they said go to your server who will give you a disembarkation ticket. As I say didnt happen.

On our cruise in September we had an accident at Castaway Cay so we were about 5 hrs late leaving there which has us getting into port pretty late. I don't remember exactly what time it was when we got off but I remember seeing plenty of people very stressed about missing flights. I know we were still moving while at breakfast!

Our flight was booked for 11:50am. Then the airline changed it to 11:25am. I did not know whether to change it or not. Every time we have cruised, we have been at MCO by 10am. That is even when we waited a long time to get off. I hope we don't have any delays, so that we can make our early flight. We are doing Disney Transfers and the onboard airline boarding passes. If we don't make it, I guess we may be in Orlando an extra night. Oh well!!!!
