Staying at CSR Dec 5-12. Thinking of moving to AK the last 3 nights but only standards available. What is the view...parking lot? Is it worth it without the views? What about construction noise?

Thanks for the info.

I am wondering about this also. How are the standard view rooms? I will be there Nov 15-19 and I'll be sure to take plenty of pics and share them with ya'll!!!

allears.net has some pictures of views from standard view rooms. Not all are parking lot view, some look out over Boma's roof and even some "bad" savannah views are classified standard view.

In my opinion AKL is a fantastic resort, and even if you do not see animals from your room, there are many possibilities to see them! And the rest of the hotel will be as enjoyable for someone in a standard view room as for someone in a savannah view!

With regard to construction noise: If you would look out to Sunset Savannah, there might be a chance of hearing the construction of the new building. But most standard view rooms would not be close to that at all.

I had read somewhere that the concierge lounge was moved to the Presidential Suite while construction was going on -- is it still there, or has it been moved again? And if so, where is it now?

It's back on the 6th floor where it belongs! (and I believe the black draping around the 5th & 6th floor lobby rooms came down recently too! )

That's good to know, thanks! I know the regular concierge lounge must be nice..but I was sorta looking forward to being able to poke around in the suite. I saw it on the Travel Channel and it looks awesome! Maybe someday....

Disneymooner2008 - Congratulations on the marriage & trip! We (DH & FIL) will be staying at AKL 1/5 - 1/12. Hope we have short wait times at all the parks and good weather.

Less than 2 months to go.

Information on this thread is helpful. Still, I am confused about booking concierge and being guaranteed a savanna view. This thread says your chances are 50/50. I have been told that all the standard concierge rooms are savanna views. Any clarification? Anywhere I can read the policy?

Thanks, a befuddled DISer.....lilyv

Standard concierge are savannah or pool view. It may have changed temporarily during consatruction but the best way to get a up-to-date anbswer is to call the resort.

I asked AKL IPO earlier this week because I had a savannah view booked for the first part of my May 2008 trip and club level for the later part of the trip. Savannah view was the number one factor in booking the room. I also wanted club level for the Sunrise Safari. "Donald Duck" told me that all club level rooms are savannah views. I switched all my trip to club level. So excited!!

Sorry, that information is not correct (used to be before the construction). ALL standard club level rooms are 4th floor, savannah view.

Thanks, JudyKay and Rachel! I went ahead and emailed, because a guaranteed savanna view was the main reason we booked at AKL concierge, rather than another resort. I got the same answer as both you gave.

All the concierge rooms at AKL are savanna view!

Woohoo!!!!
