For those that made a room/building request...or thought so

When I made my ressies on MArch 1 I requested Cabana 8A at the Coronado. I called this evening as we are getting closer, just to go over my ressies and the rep noted that there was not any request on my ressies. So for those of you that have made a request it is worth it to be sure that the rep actually put it in the system.

I personally don't think it's worth adding on a request given the fact that rooms are now assigned by computer. Your request is not seen by the resort until you actually check-in. What I would do is NOT do the online check-in but check-in when you arrive. When you get to the desk and speak with the CM, mention your request at that time. That is when they can make the changes.

If you prefer to do the online check-in, I would then make sure your request is on the reservation. Honestly though, who knows if anyone actually sees that or if a computer just shoots out your room number and keys?

This past September was the first time we ever made a room request. We stayed at POFQ, and asked for a 3rd story corner room. I faxed this request in about 10 days before we were scheduled to arrive, and we got our request.

That room was incredible!! The extra window in the room made it much more open.

Years ago I would fax my request in and my request was always honored. but now I understand there is no weight to the fax request. In addition to that I am going to The Coronado and have never been there so other than a building I don't have a request. I don't plan on online check in either, I like the human factor. Your more likely to get lucky with a person than a machine!

I have sometimes requested a section of a resort but never a specific room.

Requesting a room is very hit and miss. I had an incident at Pop Century where I first requested a king bed (not that expected) but then later decided to change it to nothing since we were arriving early and I just wanted any room. When we got there, the king bed request was still there and.... it was ready!!!!

Remember, your REQUEST is just that, a REQUEST. It's not carved in stone and there's absolutely no reason for you to expect you will get exactly what you asked for. The ONLY guarantee would be for medical reasons and I hope no one resorts (no pun intended) on using that as a request.

Cool

I have requested areas of OKW each time we go using various methods and it never shows up when we are checking in.The CM always says they don't see any requests on our ressie.

So an easy check in becomes a pain because my thinking is if you have someone booked in an area that they did not request-ie:never been there before vs. the 10 times we have and they don't know the difference like our first time-grant the request.Does not sound too hard to me.

Even a medical reason is not guaranteed. We were at PORS once (before they had the preferred room category). We requested first floor AB close to food court due to my mom being with us and being a very brittle diabetic and having alot of problems with her knees. The CM recommended that I call the disability number. I did so and had the request noted. I called back a couple of weeks before the trip to make sure it was on there and it was. When we checked in, we were on the top floor of one of the furtherest buildings. The nice CM at check in was able to get us into a first floor room in building 18 though.

One year I booked a preferred room at AS Movies making a request for first floor Fantasia or Dalmation buildings. A couple of months before the trip, I switched over to CSR and made a request for first floor Cabanas 8A or 9B. About two weeks before the trip I went online to look at my ressie on the WDW site. I was shocked to see my CSR ressie showing my request for first floor Fantasia or Dalmations buildings or Cabanas 8A or 9B. When I called to fix it the CM laughed and said, "Yes, considering you're booked at CSR, it might be a little hard for the room assigner to get you into a building at AS Movies".

I just called last night to confirm my res and they told me what my room request was so I know they have them. Hopefully I can get a quiet room because last time there was beeping noises early in the morning (either vendors outside or the room next to us had an alarm clock going off).

I am worried that because we are arriving early evening I will get a noisy room!

I know a request is just a request. I was more surprised that I did make a request and it was never noted, although the CM stated she would place my request. Its just a good idea to be sure your request is noted, even if not granted.

It should be noted with the new computer system, that faxes are no longer looked at because the computer sorts the requests automatically.

We requested a particular bldg when I made our reservation. I checked in online. When we checked in at Pop our room was ready but they had no record of our request and had put us in the opposite area. I had confirmed the request when I made my final payment so I know it was in their system but apparently it never got communicated to Pop (per the CM at the desk). The CM quickly and easily made the change to the bldg we wanted (room was also ready). It was not a crowded week so the change was not really a big deal. If going at a crowded time, I can see where you might get stuck with something you don't want.
