Planning tool for the 21st Century!

Duh, I can use my phone to write down an agenda for the day. It's not just good for our ADRs, it's good to remind us to go take a nap too!

I can't sleep

Day Three, Monday, February 18

We're so sleeping in. It's President's Day, why even bother trying to go commando style. Just chill. So, any bets placed on how late we'll sleep after doing the 2am MK the night before? I'm guessing 11am or noon. Although, maybe we should actually set the alarm for just before then so that we can get breakfast from room service...hmmm...tempting. If not we'll have a snacky breakfast, making sure to snack alot until we get lunch.

So maybe we'll roll out around noonish to oneish. Get to MGM or Disney or whatever...let's just say THE STUDIOS in early afternoon. This is the park that we have spent the least time in (one half day) so we really want to explore, checking out all the nooks and crannies. We also have a free half day at the end of the trip, so if there's something we didn't get to but have to do, we can do it then.

We'll attempt a Fastpass for Rock n Roller Coaster, if not available (no matter how late in the day) then no biggie...we can attempt Tower of Terror FastPass. It's all good, it's a chill day. Remember that, chill.

So Priorities that afternoon:
that car Stunt Show (personally I don't care, it's for DH, it's new for us)
Indiana Jones (ditto)
Beauty and the Beast (new for us)
Sounds Dangerous (sounds like a giggle fest, new for us)
Journey into Narnia (chill, remember? new for us)
Walt Disney: One Man's Dream (i'm an obsessive geek)
Disney Animation (ditto)
Backlot Tour (have never done this)

We won't worry about Muppet Vision (seen that many times in DL, still love it, though) or Honey I Shrunk the Kids (though it would be fun to walk through, just sounds like a pain to wait for a walk around).

Somewhere in there (no later than 3pm) we'd like to eat at the Studio Catering Co. I mean, what's not on that menu to like? mmmm tasty goodness. and booze! Do the margaritas come in to go cups to carry around the park? sign me up.

We have 6:10 reservations at the Brown Derby. Why is it that I can't even fathom having anything other than the Cobb Salad? Other things on the menu look great...but it's, like, historic and stuff. I will have the grapefruit cake this time! I will not let DH talk me into chocolate!

So that should all dump nicely and evenly into EMH. It's a holiday, so my bet is that they'll stay open the full three hours afterward...at least it seems as if they would. I could be horribly mistaken. But, that should be plenty of time to...
Voyage with the Little Mermaid
Great Movie Ride (I hate this ride, DH loves it, I'm a good wife)
Rock n Roll!
Tower of Terror....maybe twice!

We're thinking about going to Jellyrolls afterward...but thats a whole post on it's own.

So, to be continuted...

Still to Do:
To Do!
call Magical Express
take pics of luggage
change name on reservations
call Bistro de Paris 40 days out
sleep

Ok, Jellyrolls.

I'd really like to go, dueling pianos are always a great time. My issue is the smoking, though.

Now, I'm not a naive novice when it comes to bars and clubs. Not by any streach of the imagination. However, WA state passed a law (was it a year ago?) that banned all smoking in all bars, clubs, resteraunts, etc. You're not even supposed to smoke within 20 feet of the door (rarely enforced, however). I am so rarely in the pressence of second hand smoke now. What I've noticed is that now whenever I get even just a little bit of second hand smoke, I start to cough and choke like a madwoman. When we were at DL last month, I accidently caught myself walking through the smoking area and thought that I would end up throwing up on the ground I was coughing so hard.

Add to that the fact that my clothing just MIGHT smell like smoke afterward. I'd have to put it on the balcony until I could get to wash it (I know, frowned upon, but I'm not looking to display it, just lay it on the ground). It's either that or have the entire room stink of smoke.

BUT I REALLY WANT TO GO TO JELLYROLLS!!!

tis a difficult, difficult decision to make.

aieeeeee

Day 4, Tuesday, February 19

Well, whatever happens the night before (to Jellyroll or not to Jellyroll, that is the question), we'll end up at EPCOT the next day. If we don't Jellyroll, we'll end up there earlier, maybe in time for Spaceship Earth? It's supposed to be open that day. If we Jellyroll, then we just need to make sure that we're at Canada by 11am for the fabled Drinking around the World. Well, at least I'll be doing it. Much booze is bad for the hypoglycemic. However, I don't have such issues! Twill be fun fun, or painful painful.

So, the plan for the drinking around the world (I will definitely take advice for those who have done this trek). We'll have more days at EPCOT, including more time to walk around the World Showcase, so I'm not concerned about seeing everything at once. This will, however all serve as the prelim shopping day. I love, love the shopping there, but you need two days, one day to scope things off, then another day after you've decided things to actually buy.

11:00 Canada First off, get a beer and walk around the grounds and shops. Any walk up snacks we should have? Last time here, we surprised the Canadians by telling them that we wanted to imigrate there. They were shocked. We will not be doing O'Canada at this time.

11:45 France We'll skip the UK for now. First off, get a cheese plate and glass of wine at the patisserie. Do some walking around, getting pictures and checking out the stores. We will not be doing Impressions de France at this time.

12:30 Morocco We'll probably sit down and have a more extensive snack here. I'll be looking for a glass of wine and something tasty. DH and I adore Moroccan food. I also want to look at their lamps, I've got a room with a niche that they'd be perfect for!

1:15 Japan I hear there's Plum wine! And love, love the shopping. In particular I need the taiko drumming cds that I got At the time and have now lost.

2:00 USA First off, a beer please, then, just in time when we're needing a break, American Adventure! Honestly, I do love this show. I always cry. 'America spread your golden wings…' although I just realized that it reminds me of that John Ashcroft song.

3:30 Italy Wine tasting! And shopping. Hopefully we'll see the living statues. Last time we saw the masquerade and it freaked me out. I've had my dance history classes, I get what this particular brand of theater is about…I just didn't enjoy it.

4:15 Germany I hear there's wine, but is it at the counter service dog stand, we'll see. Last time we missed the train, this year we'll be sure to see it.

5:00 China First off, we'll see the movie/museum walking through the store. After which, we'll grab a beer (I wish wine) and maybe a snack. That store there is nuts, reminds me of a junk shop in Chinatown, which I love.

6:00 Norway We'll do the Maelstrom first, before being forced to walk through the store. Haha. Last time we didn't pick up the Viking picture book about raping and pillaging the villages, not this time! It will be ours. Then we'll grab a beer, I'll try School Bread, and head toward Mexico.

7:00 Mexico Grand Fiesta Tour! While drunk! Now this I'm looking forward too. We'll do a bit of shopping, and then grab a beer for walking to the UK.

8:00 UK We have an ADR for the Rose and Crown at 8pm. I doubt we'll be able to shop around here at this time, although I'm really looking forward to that. I hope they still have Lulu Guinness.

At this point, we'll head back to the room so that I can take a couple of aspirin, drink a bunch of water, take my vitamin B, and fall into bed.

So, after this discussion
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1631665
I decided to go ahead an order my favorite walk around the park sandals.

Mr. Weitsman's Suspend

I love this shoe. I can wear it all around DL with no problems, and I feel good. It's so strappy that it holds to your foot and you never get that 'gripping' thing that leads to shin splints. It's flexible enough that my foot actualy works, so other parts of the body don't get stiff. And the heel height is perfect for me (because of my injured ankle, I don't have as much range of motion. In a flat, my foot and ankle can't walk properly and I start to limp and things like that. Not good.

So yay! got my shoes today! Zappos must have a wearhouse in Seattle.

Hola!

I followed your link over from the childless thread. What a great trip report you have here!

Your vacation style sounds similar to ours. I get crazy about wanting to get everything unpacked. Definitely can't wait to check out the bar at our resort. And we are shooting for Drinking Around the World, hopefully we can make it from Canada to Mexico, wish us luck! I can't stand cigarette smoke and am totally envious of your local laws. We still have smoking here, even in the restaurant bars which we tend to frequent more than clubs.

Have you considered checking out the Adventurer's Club at Pleasure Island? It's no smoking and one heck of a good time!

Looks like you have some great planning so far!

I was actually going to ask soon about Adventurer's Club and wether or not there was smoking. If there isn't, then hallalujah! we're going.

I'll have more soon, I'm sure...sort of.

THis time of year gets crazy around here. It's not just Christmas and Thanksgiving (at our house this year...yay?), but I also produce a local Nutcracker, so my brain is going crazy with all of the little details.

Ok, I couldn't resist, and added an ADR for Sunday at Tusker House.

I really, really, hate buffets. I just always have images of free-for-alls and people being grabby, and on and on and on. Then again, my childhood memories of buffets were negative ones, and I have yet to go to one that I've enjoyed as an adult. So, I stay away.

Then I see what's on the menu of Tusker House for lunch and I just can't resist. I love me some hummas and baba ganouge. Bring on the lentils! DH will probably enjoy the buffet atmosphere, and I know he'll like the food.

I gave in, I made a ticker. Is it really just over two months? really? wow. Time flies...in a good way!

I feel like I'm in a holding pattern until Yak and Yeti takes reservations on Dec. 4th, until then I'm not sure how to approach our next day in the park.

I'm also trying to decide if I should forgo my traditional bringing of the hot pot and french press, and instead just use the coffee pot at the WL and pray that I bring the correct filters. I would die if I brought the wrong ones, I couldn't live with their coffee for a week. What to do, what to do?!?!

I also decided NO on Jellyrolls. I just don't want everything to smell like smoke for the rest of the trip.

woo hoo! Yak and Yeti taking reservations...and game on.

Day 5, Wednesday, Feb 20

Allright, sense the day before is drinking around the world, I'm thinking we'l sleep in this day. Good plan? yes, I think so. Just giving a guess on this one, but me thinks we'll awaken around 8ish, perhaps get to Epcot around 10ish? Yes?

Epcot

The general plan will be to attempt a Fastpass at Test Track, although by 10:30, you never know, there might not be any good times left for us. Other than that, we'll be focussing on the right hand side of future world. In order, we'll do The Seas, Imagination (I love the play area!), and The Land (we'll skip Soarin, as we see it at DL a couple of times a year).

I'm not sure what to expect at The Seas now that it's been Nemoized. Last l time we spent about three hours here, not sure what to expect now. I mean, can you still do a walking tour of the aquarium? How about the manatee with the lucky fin? I'll be so sad if we can't see him. However, I still think that I need to put The Seas first on the day so that we won't find ourselves not able to spend as much time there as we'd like.

Anyhoo, we had an ADR at Coral Reef at 1:20 (a little backtracking if The Seas goes quickly, or flowing perfectly from a leisurely stroll through? we'll see). I'm a bit concerned about this since it's a bit far off from our breakfast time, and unles we're in The Land, not alot of opportunities for snacks. So, we'll just plan on the beef jerky and cashew nut snacks in the backpack. Unless there's a way to go in the back entrance to the aquarium without doing the Nemo ride, anybody know? back to coral Reef, looking at the menu, I'm thinking I'll be ordering appetizers and salad and soup and dessert...just looks yummers. Wonder if they'll have bloody marys after my previous day? lol.

I figure that we'll leave Epcot around 4:30 or so, in order to get to Animal Kingdom on time for our 6:00 Yak and Yeti ADR! woohoo! I'm saying it now, I'll be getting the Pho. I don't care that it's $17, I'm still getting it. I don't care if it's shrimp instead of eye round steak cooked in the broth, I'm still getting it. I just love, love rice noodles in warm broth. Thats all that matters. That and the dessert fried wontons....looks yUMMMMy.

That night is EMH at the Animal Kingdom. So, if we haven't seen the Lion King yet, we'll see it then. And, of course, Dinosaur, Everest, and Primevel Whirl!

Since there won't be a nap time opportunity that day, I'm thinking we'll head on back to the hotel and collapse...after all, the next day is a 6am wake up call!

To Do!
call Magical Express
take pics of luggage

Your plans for EPCOT look great! I love the Coral Reef, unfortunately we did not go this time around. DH wanted to try some new places so we ended up doing the Norway Akershus Princess lunch. UGH, can you say kid invasion, what was my DH thinking? I must admit he learned his lesson, keep an eye on my TR for the pics.

And definitely catch the late showing of FOLK, it was excellent and we did not have to wait in line as long, they were bringing people in right up to the last minute and seating them. We waited about 20 minutes and it was totally worth it. I will be showing pics of this also.

Happy planning!

You know, I'd be all over for trying some Norwegian food...but from what it sounds like, there's not awhole lot there after the Princess invasion.

btw, when I asked DH why random European, Asian, and Persian princesses (note, no Scandanavian) would be in Norway, he responded with a 'duh, they were kidnapped by the Vikings'. Ahhh, Disney, you're still telling a story with the Princess meal in Norway! good job! So, next time you go, just imagine that they're all captive princesses waiting to be ransomed...should add to the entertainment value of the meal.

That said GOOD GOD I'M GLAD DECEMBER IS ALMOST OVER!!!!!!!!!! And WDW is just six weeks away?

I survived another Nutcracker year!!!! hazzah! time to get down to disney planning once again! muhahahahaha

OH! and I found a better solution to the coffee situation. Instead of bringing the French Press and Hot Pot...I'll bring the hot pot and manual drip coffeemaker! brillant! Why didn't I think of this before?

Oh yes, and we're all paid up. Sweet!

So am I nuts for starting the packing already? Not heavy duty packing, but as I come across things that we'll be taking and we won't need them before then, I put it into a suitcase. Things like our robes to lounge in, toilet paper (not my choice, but DH seems to have issues with this), non-perishable snacks and the like.

I also need to go to the dollar store to start making little daily gift surprises for DH. I mean, I don't NEED to, but I want to. I've got a coloring book and crayons (when he has a hypogyclemic episode, it helps him calm down for some reason), and a couple of little hand held games. I need more things for the fun!

Isn't it nice to know the bills are paid before you go!! Way to go! And it's never too early to start packing, I wish I would have started sooner so I was not scrambling at the last minute, oh well, next time I will. The hand held games are a great idea, we have a scrabble game that DH & I love to have for our waits in the airport and while on the plane. Plus, I'm a wordfind geek and get the little travel size books. I picked up glow bracelets and necklaces at the dollar store for night time events, their especially fun while watching Spectro. Good luck in your search for fun stuff!
