The Disney Snob Rides Again!...July 2007
Hello. How many are in your party? Row 1 please, and be sure to move all the way forward and fill in all available space. Oh. And allow me to introduce myself.
I am Emma. I am a Disney Snob. If you want the whole story on how the name came to be, you’ll have to read my first trip report, Confessions of a Disney Snob (click on the link in my signature), which detailed my May 2007 trip to the world. But really, a “disney snob” can mean a number of things. For ME, it means… YES. I am too snobbish to go to Universal. YES. I am so snobbish that I like Disney World better than Disneyland. YES. I am snobbish enough to prefer deluxe resorts...especially my FAVorite resort, the Polynesian! But NO. Even I’m not so snobbish I can’t stand being away from the world for more than two months at a time. See, we were going back at the end of July. 2007. This trip came about through a series of lucky coincidences. They were… 1. My mom got the opportunity to go to Orlando…for WORK. I love companies that hold things in Florida. Because basically, it’s just an excuse to go to Disney World without missing work….or with missing LESS work…at least… 2. My older brother (Aramis…I’ll do introductions in a minute) works at Disney World. In the College Program. Table-service restaurants. Assigner/seater/greeter. SO. We’ve got to go visit him. Because we miss him soooooooOOOOooo much. really. 3. From our trip in May we have Annual Passes. That means we have to go AS often AS possible. To get our full money’s worth. 4.My mom could get FANtastico rates at Disney resorts through Aramis’ major CM discounts. I think I finally appreciate Aramis again. 5. This last event wasn’t exactly FORtunate, per say. BUT, since it did contribute to helping us get back, I guess you could call it so. See, in May, we took a lovely trip to Disney World right in between my AP exams and my finals (I WAS a senior in high school a few months ago, FYI.). And coming back was far from relaxing. We drove practically nonstop to get home in time for my Physics final which was the NEXT day. We made it, but it left us all kind of frazzled and feeling that another jaunt to the world…SANS crazy rushed drive home…would be a very good idea. Before I begin my SECOND trip report. Perhaps I should throw out some warnings. First off, this trip report may contain capital letters where you LeaSt exPECt them. lol. ACtually, I use them for EMPHASIS. See, I’m a STRESSer. Or a stressER. Whichever you prefer. Also, I like to make up acronyms. But I’ll always let you know what they mean. Just don’t get the acronyms mixed up the emphasis capitals. Words like AND and SO mean what you think they mean. Words like IMNSHO (in my not-so-humble opinion) and ASAP don’t mean what you think they mean...unless you think they mean what they actually mean, in which case go right on with your train of thought. Before it gets derailed by my confusing logic. In addition, you will be getting PLENTY of pictures in this trip report. Pictures of beloved park icons, blurred ride scenes, secret cast member areas, delicious meals, interesting angles, hotel rooms, my two trip mascots, AND….my back. Yes, I’m sorry, but by my mother’s orders, I am NOT allowed to post any identifiable photos of me on the internet. Sorry. I can’t help it. BUT since any of ten thousand girls could look like me from the back, you will get some interesting NONidentifiable photos of yours truly. And that whole spheel goes for the rest of my family too. SO. As soon as the metal rails in front of you open, please move all the way across your car and pull the lap bar down. Be sure to secure any loose items in the compartment in front of you. Because we’re about to start. I promised introductions. In the words of my good “friend” Stacey, let’s hit it! EMMA: Me. The Disney Snob. I am eighteen and a HALF years old, and I’m crazy about Disney World (and most things Disney). I could name the order of the World Showcase countries in my sleep. I’m a snob in other aspects of life as well. I like the nicest things...Disney, chocolate, Jane Austen, and American Girl dolls. Also, Disney Princesses. Someday I’m going to be one. Through the college program. I already can do basically any autograph you can thing of. Betsey: More often referred to as Mom. My mom is totally awesome. She’s creative and cool and up for anything. I definitely get my sense of adventure from her. Also, my writing/artistic skills. My mom makes any situation fun and she definitely makes Disney World MORE fun. She’s the engineer behind the trip…she calls in, makes the ADR’s, plans everything out. I love my mom. Joe: More often referred to as Dad. My dad is pretty awesome. He’s very serious but can be funny too. Plus, he’s really protective of all of us. A few years ago, when this foreign tourist was smushing me in trying to get a better spot for the parade, my dad says: "Excuse me sir, but you're stepping on my child." My dad's not super crazy over Disney, but he's still cool. I love my dad too. Aramis: Brother number 1. Twenty years old and still doesn’t make much sense to me. I’ve said it before…our brains are wired on entirely different frequencies. He’s a fan of video games, Nintendo (he loves his Wii), and anime. I think he’s becoming a fan of Disney World too because of his experience in the college program. We have often received calls at 11 PM from him…watching SpectroMagic, on the monorail, around the World. And that’s the only time we hear from him, keep in mind. He’s having an awesome time at Disney. Porthos: Brother number 2. Fifteen years old. Loves high school (why I can't fathom!) Pretty cool, moderately enthusiastic about Disney. Also way crazed over Nintendo. And the game Ogre. Anyone remember it? Yeah…it’s from my DAD’S childhood, but Porthos found it in the basement and it awakened his sense of militarism. Athos: Brother number 3. Ten years old. Crazy over Stitch, dinosaurs, and wild animals. Very fun to be at Disney with, generally up for anything. That he’s tall enough for, anyway. Favorite park is the Animal Kingdom. He’s just discovered the joy of roller coasters…especially Expedition Everest. D’Artagnan: Brother number 4. (last one…don’t worry…I’m done!). Will be referred to as Dart. Four years old. Very cute. Loves Cars the Movie Cars, Thomas the Tank Engine, and GeoTrax. He was bribed into a princess lunch at Akershus with a new Geotrax train. He was soo cute when Cinderella gave him a kiss and he turned all red! There are two other introductions I should make…they are the official mascots of this trip…my two American Girl dolls… ![]() Felicity: The first American Girl doll I got and consequently my favorite. I made her an Ariel princess ball gown for our lunch at Akershus. Felicity came along on our FIRST trip to Disney ten years ago. ![]() Elizabeth: Technically my mom’s doll. But I got to pretend she was mine for this trip. She’s Felicity’s “best friend” in the American Girl line, which made her a natural choice to bring along. PLUS, she was the perfect Aurora to Felicity’s Ariel! (They both like making phone calls at hotels that have cool phones...in case the photos didn't tip you off...) We were headed back to Disney end of July/beginning of August. (during my half-birthday!! Yay!!). Method of transportation: gold van. Many hours of driving. But we were going to take our drive nice and SLOOOOW this time. Method(s) of entertainment: ipod for Porthos, PS2 for Athos, DVD player for Dart (don’t you love how cultural and sophisticated my brothers interests are??). For me: Sewing, writing, reading. When they don’t make me carsick. Which is about the first ten minutes…OKAY…I also used my ipod, but what I love about driving is staring out the window and dreaming up stories! Method of relaxation (BEFORE arrival at the happiest place on earth): some FUN pit stops along the way…including Disney’s Vero Beach Resort! So are we ready? If everyone could please tug on their lap bars to make sure they are secure and in place. Also, please keep arms, legs, and other appendages inside the vehicle at all times. Unless we come to a roller-coastery bit. Then you can stick your arms out and yell “WOOOOOOO” as loud as you so please. Hold on to your hats, folks because THIS here is the WILDest (and SNOBBISHest) ride in the wilderness. The Disney snob is RIDING again, and you DON'T want to miss it! Up Next: Anticipation! p.4 post 56 INDEX! (there is a note at the bottom of each update directing you to the page and post of the next installment, but just for your convinience...) Emma,
I'm so glad that I found your report; my DD and I have been checking daily for it!!
We cannot wait to read about all your adventures and to see all your beautiful pix. Kathy P.S. Please send a bit of for Tricia's doll, Jessica. She is currently a patient at the AG Doll Hospital, receiving treatment for the unfortunate results of her little brother + a pair of scissors!!
