To Decorate or NOT to decorate

So, I've posted this somewhere else..but decided to post it here as well. As you all now know...I LOVE Christmas and I LOVE Disney! I'm one of these people who start putting up their Christmas tree as soon as Thanksgiving dinner is over. This year decorating is going to be hard. We will be leaving for my inlaws in Louisiana the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We will be coming back the Sunday after Thanksgiving and I work the next 5 days...then we leave for WDW!! I think my husband is assuming we won't put up the tree until we get back...ummm no way! I'm thinking it will be up before Thanksgiving this year!!! (Go ahead...DH makes fun of me too!!!)

Anyway..that has nothing to do with this post.....I need some festive decorations for our room at the resort(s). I called Disney florist and got a quote on their BEAUTIFUL Christmas tree. (4 ft..fully decorated) Yeah, it's $375. Now, I'm NOT cheap by any means...but $375 is a little steep for me. So, we are not going that route. Then I had the idea (thanks to some wonderful disers) that I would get a little table top tree and bring a string of lights and my mini disney ornaments and decorate it once I get there. My issue..How is that going to travel from one resort to the other when we change? My husband thinks I'm nuts for wanting to decorate. Maybe I am...

Hello there!

I look forward to following your trip report. We are also visiting WDW in December. We are going the 14th-20th. It is a suprise trip for our daughters. We thought that as much as we spend on Christmas gifts (also as much as they already have ) that this is something we could do for all of us and will be worth SO much more than tons of gifts. We plan on telling them about a week before we leave. It is driving me crazy keeping it from them. They keep saying "wish we could go back to Disney World" and I say well maybe in the next year or two . I swear, I have to turn my head!

You seem so organized with your ADR's and all. I need to get on the ball! I start my second year of nursing school on August 13th and my mind will be , so I need to get everything planned by then. I have ideas and bunches of unorganized notes, but have not had the time (summer school).
I am out for now and my girls go BTS tomorrow, so I plan to work while they are there.

I also want to mention that we love Mama Melrose. I know different people like different things, but we eat there every trip.

Sorry for such a long post!

Miranda

Welcome!!!

Hi Miranda!! I hope my pretrip babbling doesn't bore you too much. My DH is SO done with talking about WDW for right now. He loves it..but he said he can't talk about it until November 1st! LOL This is my "out loud" planning board for now.

I think it is AWESOME that you are suprising your girls!! AND that you can keep it secret! I stink at keeping secrets!! They are going to be super excited!!!

Thank you for your kind words. Vacations are about the only things I'm organized at. (You should see my office *YIKES*) Half the fun of going to WDW for me is the planning. I don't plan out every min...or every ride...but I do know what parks we are going to and on what days. Now, every now and then once we are there the plan does change...and that is OK!

Having been a nursing school student myself, I must agree with you that you need to get alot planned before your 2nd year starts. I admire you for doing it with a family! I don't think I could do it now if I had too. DH and I are both nurses. (We met and fell in love in nursing school! ) I LOVE what I do...but it was absolute "H" "E" "double hocky sticks" getting that RN behind my name! It really is a WONDERFUL profession though. Best of luck to you!

We like resturants at WDW that alot of people don't like also. (For instance we LOVE Sci Fi. I bet I can count on one hand how many people I've heard say that) I'm still going to try to get the ADR for MM.

Ok..this has been a novel post! Thanks for following my pretrip! I hope you continue to hang around!

Hello!

I'm here, too, because:

1. I noticed that you're an RN and we nurses have to stick together.
2. I have the same twin passions, Christmas and WDW.
3. I had the good fortune to visit WDW in December back in '05, and
4. Oh well, I guess I can squeeze in just one more PTR!

Hi!

I want to join in. I think writing a pre-trip report is a great way to get excited, no matter how early it is. I just started mine for our September trip and it's been so much fun. I can't wait to hear the rest of your plans!

Hi I found you on ILMICKEYS trip report and followed you over. I am going in Dec too and the wait is killing me. First I have to say I LOVE SCI-FI. I can't wait to go back to it. I don't know if it was the food or the atmosphere that I love so much, maybe both, those burgers are colossal huh? My DS remarked that they were bigger than our dogs. lol

I plan to decorate our room, I would like to bring a table top tree, but I am flying, so I might just have to settle for a strand of lights. So I say if you want to decorate, do it. If your worried about transporting between 2 resorts you could always wait and just put the tree up once you get to your 2nd resort.

This is only my 2nd trip ever. First time going in Dec, I am like you, I love Christmas, all 4 of my trees (sometimes just 3) are up the weekend before Thanksgiving, I like to look at the decorations while preparing dinner.

All of your ADR's look awesome. It's funny how all of us here on the Dis like to know and find it so interesting where everyone is going to eat. I'm trying to not repeat too many places this year, but I love Sci-Fi, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Coral Reef, I am also going to CP again, but breakfast this time.

I am excited for your little guy just cause he is so excited, that is a great feeling, just like knowing that Santa is coming soon.

Can't wait to read more.

Smile Don't forget me...

Greetings from another December trippie!

We're heading back "home" to the Mouse House the first week, and have ADR'S for Chef Mickey's, California Grille, and tickets for the MVMCP. Also considering a Candlelight Processional package.

I'm so excited..it's our first holiday visit. Can't wait to see all the decorations! I'm getting the heebie jeebies, I'm soooo excited

I'm here too!! We'll be at WL the week of Dec. 9th. I'm done with all the planning and now the wait is driving me crazy!! And on top of that, it's a surprise for DD4. We promised her a WDW trip before she goes into Kindergarten, but she has no idea when. It's really hard keeping this a secret!!!

Well, it will definitely be fully decorated when you're there, because the stuff starts going up in early November!

We were there the first week of December....was it Dec 3rd or 4th that we arrived? I don't remember. But we were able to book the Candlelight Processional and MVMCP; both were outstanding!

If you want to see the Mickey's Night Before Christmas show at MVMCP (and you should, it was wonderful), definitely get there early for seats. We thought we would have enough time showing up 20 min before the show, but the theater was packed and we had to stand in the back. The kids had a hard time seeing.

I thought that the Christmas parade alone was worth the extra $$ for the party!!

I know you will just love, love, love it!!

Along for the ride as well

Fellow Alabamian here also. We will be there Dec 1 - 5 at POR. This trip will be the first for my great nephew (who will be 5 at the time) and the first in a while for his mother and grandfather (my niece and brother in law). We are trying desperately to keep it a secret, however my sister is having a very hard time.

I was there in Dec. 01 and absolutely loved it. I am a little torn between which is my favorite time of year to go, Christmas or Halloween. Like you I LOVE Christmas, but I also like Halloween....and you can't beat the crowds in October.

I have been considering a Pre-Trip report but was waiting a little longer. Now I guess I will have to get started. Everyone else that is going is sick of me going over our plans.

Hi! I see you live on the BEAUTIFUL gulf coast!!! LOVE it down there!!! How exciting you are suprising your great nephew!!! I really wish I could keep a secret! I'm no good at it.
I agree with you, we LOVED going in October...and I hope we like December just as much!
I'm telling you...a pre trip report is the way to go...if only for yourself. My family is getting sick of hearing me talk about it. At least this way if you get sick of me you can just refuse to read it!! LOL.

I'll be looking for your report!

MAMA NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF SHOES!!!!

I've learned the hard way that I need a SUPER comfortable/supportive pair of shoes for WDW. THis really sunk in our first trip with our son after I had HUGE blisters rubbed into my feet. See, I bought new shoes a couple of months before we left. Some SUPER cute New Balance that I bought totally for how they looked and NOT for how comfortable they were...plus I think I got the wrong size. Anyway..I wore them for 3 straight days in WDW. That 4th day my feet were KILLIING me. I basically had my whole foot covered in mole skin! It was awful!! I had to break down and buy some Minnie Mouse flip flops in the MK and wore them the rest of the time we were there. Our next trip for SWW I wore some very comfortable flip flops the entire time. Now that we are going in December I realize it may be a little to cold for flip flops the whole time...so I've been on the look out for some comfortable shoes.

I found them one week ago and my shoe store was out of them so they had to order them from another store. I got them yesterday and they feel like I'm walking on air. It's SOooo wonderful!! They are "Nike Air Max Assil (2)" Not only are they #1 the right size (I had to fess up and realize that my feet really did get bigger when I was pregnant with my son and never went back to pre pregnancy size...and I bought a size 8 1/2) #2 SUPER comfortable...but they are ALSO SUPER CUTE! Gray...with a little bit of white and BEAUTIFUL coral accents! I love them! I would post pictures if I knew how. (anyone reading this that knows how feel free to clue me in!!) I'm sooo excited!! *YIPPEE*
