GREAT pictures, Maggie! Where were they taken??

We took pics of the same type of lizard with the red neck/throat, just a few days ago at the Polynesian resort.

thanks. the baby birds were morning doves that were in my backyard and the snail, lizard and turtles were down at vero beach 2 weeks ago. dd thought I was a little crazy taking pictures of the snail and the lizard. I took another one of a smaller snail on the fence, I'll have to find it. maggie

The land of this park was bought in 1649 from the Massasoit Indians by Myles Standish and others as part of the Bridgewater Purchase and allotted to John Ames as original shareholder and settler.

And here before the Revolutionary War the fourth inheritor Captain John Ames began the manufacture of shovels with a triple-hammer set on this stone.

The entire park is an historic site and you can see where the dwellings and other buildings used to stand, as well as waterways, ovens built into stone walls, etc. VERY neat!

Does sound pretty cool. Great info.

Just with all the historic area's in Mass, the last place you think of is West Bridgewater. When I think of West Bridgewater its The Charlie Horse that comes to mind. But then again, that goes back to my historic drinking days when I was a 20 something.

Maggie pointed this thread out to me. These are some AWESOME photos!! And those night shots!?!?!?!? They look like the ones Disney puts out!

My husband has alpha-envy...he was looking over my shoulder at the photos & said "You only let me spend $400 on my camera!" He has the Sony DSCH-1 and how much he spent was entirely his decision, not mine!

Yes, this is the Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 camera we are talking about.

I too would like to see the settings used on the castle fireworks shots.

Thanks for the positive comments.

This was my second attempt at shooting fireworks.
The first was from the California Grille viewing gallery at the Contemporary Resort. Results proved less than satisfactory as the fireworks explode where you least expect them. (As mentioned in another thread they explode above Space Mountain from that viewpoint)

I've added the exif data as requested. (Smugmug strips it)
They were shot in RAW and converted using Lightroom.

Steery1,

You have done a wonderful job of showing some of the the capabilities of the Sony Alpha.

I have been very pleased with the colors and image quality achievable with this camera.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi,

I literally bought this camera 2 days ago. This is my 5th digital camera in 6 years. I have purchased:

Sony Cybershot DSC-S85 4.0 mp- loved it
Sony CybershotDSC-T7 8.1 mp-hated it
Sony Cybershot DSC-V3 7.2 mp- ok camera
Sony Cybershot DSC-N1 8.1 mp
and now my Sony Alpha a100

This is my very first SLR camera. I stayed with Sony so I could use my media sticks that I have accumulated. I am very excited but yet very much a novice. I want to learn how to use this camera so bad. I want to be able to take great pictures. I could take great pictures with the other cameras, but I want more-I want WOW pictures like i see on this board. I can dream can't I... I so would love to take a photography class. I don't understand anything about exposure and all the fancy things this camera can do.

So I dove in the last 2 days going round my yard taking pictures for the fun of it. Trying to get the feel for the camera. I have 2 months to learn how to use this before we go to WDW. I will post some of the pictures I took. Be kind as this is my first attempt at a real camera. The pictures were taken on auto mode as I do not know how to use any of the other functions. My dream is to be able to shoot fireworks and the electrical parade . I also just ordered today the telephoto lense so here are pictures for my first two days:

bugdozer, I really like the water pool shot. (and all the rest of them as well ) I bought Understanding exposure and really like it, it's pretty easy to read. I also would recommend taking a photo class if you can find one. Also just playing around with the camera. maggie
