upgrading to CL after check-in at Universal?

I thought I read last summer that guests could pay an upgrade fee at Universal Studios hotels to gain club level access. Now I can't seem to find that thread. Does anyone have any information on this?

Which resorts offer the upgrade?

Cost?

I have an AP, and qualify for the AP discount, but can't get CL for the dates I want. I am wondering about booking non-CL now and paying for the access later.

Will I lose out on AP discount if I pay later for the upgrade?

I'm kind of considering this mostly to get FOLA. Option B is staying offsite at a moderate price hotel with free breakfast.

Cost is about $100, if it is available. The three deluxe hotels have club. You can't be guaranteed that there will be space available unless you actually book club itself.

The only allow upgrades to club at check in if club isn't thoroughly booked.Cost is about $100 per night.

We are arriving on New Years. We have a garden view room with a Platinum upgrade to a suite at PBH. I called last week to see what the availability of adding club access to our reservation would be at check-in. The front desk just went ahead and added the club access at the time of my call since she said it was almost sold out.

It was $100.00 a night.

I did not lose my Platinum benefit nor did it change my room rate. It is an add-on to the rate you are paying.

We just returned from a stay at RPR in a JP suite. We asked about upgrading to club access, and were told the cost was $125. per night !!!
We are Loews You First members and AP holders, but it didn't seem to help with the price !

Yep. We were denied because one night was sold out at club level during our trip.

disapointed

I called the front desk at RPR a couple weeks ago and they told me it was not an option there only PBH. I was disappointed and feel quite sure I have read otherwise. We did club at Hard Rock a couple of years ago and did love the convenience of it. This trip we are going to have to make a grocery stop and buy a Styrofoam cooler. We will save a couple of bucks but it won't be as enjoyable.

They might not be doing it at RPR while you are there because they are starting renovations and space is going to be limited. There have also been reports that people have been abusing the privilege when they stay on a different floor by bringing in more guests than allowed, so they might be only upgrading if there is actual space on the club floor.
