Never been to Universal

We will be visiting Universal Orlando for the 1st time Jan 2nd and 3rd Jan 2015. We will be staying at a Days Inn or Holiday Inn. Can I get 1 night at a Universal Resort for one night and get express pass? How early on the 2nd can I go and pick up an express pass to use on the 2nd and 3rd? Do they have early entry or any more helpful info for a first time visitor. Thanks in advance

Yes, as long as you stay at one of the deluxe resorts. Cabana Bay does not give you Express Pass, only Early Entry. We did it our last trip. You can check in at 6 a.m. They will give you your Express Pass ID and then you can head to the parks. You get two full days of Exprss Pass and Early Entry with one night.

You can check in early. You take the room key to the express pass kiosk near the check in desk and have your photo express pass made ( machines are simple and fast).Only the 3 deluxe resorts offer express ( not Cabana Bay) and all of them offer early entry
