Help me ponder.

Okay, for one adult and one child, I have been quoted $2044.90 at the Coronado Springs for seven nights, seven day park hopper passes, and the meal plan. So, I broke it all out. The room is $145 a nigh so a total of $1015. The meal plan is $349. The tickets are $464. That comes to $1828. I'm sure there are hotel taxes and I know transportation from the airport is included so I'm sure the quote is right. Here is my dilemma. If I book the room without the package, we get a 20% AAA discount which will bring the room down about $200. If I do this, I can't get the dining. But, will I really eat $550 worth of food in seven days? That seems really high. That is almost $80 a day for one adult and one 7 year old. Thoughts? Would I be better to book without dining and do the room alone?

I would go with the AAA rate..room only and pay for food out of pocket. You will do much better, I'm sure.

I would take a look at your restuarant choices your considering !

keep in mind its like 39.00 per adult each day. so if you do nicer TS dinners your looking at basiclly the cost of the plan for the day plus you still have a counter meal and a snack left to use.

You need to I think at least look at menu prices and do the math to see if it is worth it for you.

thats not right its 10.99 perchild under age 9 ! adults are 38.99 the math comes to like 51.00 a day not 80.00 a day

Package through AAA

I have booked the whole package through AAA before. Have you contacted them yet? It may save you a bit.

If you book through AAA you get the room discount in the Magic Your Way package. It's worth a phone call to see what their quote is.

We did this for our upcoming trip to Disney, saved about $170 from the Disney rates. It was just under $2900 for two adults and two kids (one will be 2 so she is free)...that included a room at POR for 6 nights, the dining plan and then 10 day non expire park hoppers with the waterpark option. So I thought that it was a good deal. Definitely something to check out.

I believe that with AAA you get like 20% off of your room portion to book with them.

GOOD LUCK

That was adding in what I would save by not booking a package and taking the AAA discount to the meal plan. The meal plan alone for one adult and one child was $349 which is right at $50 a day. But, if I save $200 on the room by buying tickets alone and booking just a room, I have to question whether or not I would spend the price of the meal plan and the difference in price.

Wow, that is confusing!

It is actually not that confusing ~

figure out where you plan to eat and look at the menu see what the prices look like . write them down for you and for your child add it up and then you have a rough idea what your spending. keep in mind for snacks that I think the most it can be valued at is like 4.00.

if the numbers look like you have a savings keep the ddp if not then cancel it.
We have a family of 6 ( one is a baby) we like to have it all covered and then we can order what ever we want. then againwe canhave a big bill with all of us. the 2 of you not as big a bill I am sure.

after youfigure out what it would cost out of pocket call AAA and tell them you figured out what it was out of pocket vs. ddp and see if they will figure out whats better.

That is exactly what I'm doing! I think the dining plan is going to be the way to go. I'm ball parking dinners and the dinners alone will pay for the dining plan. We are also calling AAA right now (actually, my father who has AAA is) and are telling them that we have a quote and seeing what they can get us.

Thanks to you and everyone else for the advice. I feel like I'm going into this much more educated than I ever have before.

Yup, you definitely need to AAA directly. Anyone can get you the AAA discount on a room only reservation. To get the discount with a package, you've got to book directly with AAA. But you should be able to have your cake and eat it too -- get that room rate *and* the package.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We got the quote back from AAA for the 7 days at Coronodo Springs, the 7 day park hopper passes, and the meal plan and it was $194 less than what Disney quoted us. My parents quote was $255 less (two adults vs. one adult and a child).
