I'll tell you how I make sauce if it would help. I put an onion and a few carrots in the food processor and chop them up. Then I saute that mixture in olive oil for about 10 minutes, add a teaspoon or so of garlic and saute for a couple more minutes, add salt and pepper to taste, and then add a big can of crushed tomatos and a can of tomato paste plus a tomato paste can full of water. I mix that in the saucepan for a minute or 2, then put it in the crockpot on low for 4 hours. That makes enough sauce for a week for us.

3/4 cup tomato paste + 1 cup water = 2 cups Tomato Sauce.

Thanks for the help!

ChrissyK your sauce sounds like a great way to sneak some veggies into DH without him knowing about it!

And that would be the purpose of the added carrots in this house I really hope that my DH doesn't read this board today He'd never eat my sauce again if he knew that there were carrots in there

Hi, Like the other poster said, add water. I turn my tomato paste to sauce for pizza sauce because I don't like the store bought pizza sauce. I add the water, then add basil, oregano, and parmasen for pizza. I don't know how much water I add, I just add and stir, add and stir, until it is the right consistency. It sure tastes better than store bought pizza sauce and my family notices the difference now.
