What do you think of the name Victoria? Inspired by the Jaden thread....

The Jaden thread got me thinking......

I never really thought about what people would think about my daughter's name before I named her.

Her name is Victoria, and we do call her Tori for short sometimes.

What do you think about the name?

I liked it because it was classic sounding and went well with our last name.
Also because I loved the little girl from the movie Beaches and Vix from the book Summer Sisters.

What do you think?

If you don't like it, I can take it. Just tell me why or why not.

Hubby's grandmother has that name and his sister was named Vicki in honor (guess his mom wasn't fond of Victoria--I'm not sure).

But I love the name.

I love the name Victoria!
I didnt give a hoot what people thought about my guys name. Named him Jack and when I told my MIL what i was thinking of she said I dont like that name at all and i told her "Thats a real shame isnt it?" and laughed. She has lots of opinions about everything. I love the name Gracie also but its my MIL's mothers name (I NEVER KNEW THIS till i had DS4 and had been in family for 8 yrs before that ) and she hated her mother. Its gonna be interesting to see what happens if we ever have a girl.

I like it too. It's an adult's name. Your daughter will spend a lot more time as an adult that a child.

I like the name Victoria. It has a classic, formal sound to it which I like.

I think Victoria is an elegant name! Tori makes me think of Tori Spelling, but that is certainly not the name's fault. And it would not taint the nickname for me in any way.

I think Victoria sounds very elegant, classy and feminine. I also think it's a great name with easy and tasteful nicknames like Tori and Vicki for kids when they are younger, but they can go by Victoria as an adult for a more professional sounding name.

I love names that end in "a"...but my last name starts with "A" so those baby names never flowed well for me.

I hate Vicki, though. Maybe hate is a strong word, but I am not a fan--I hate the harsh CK sound in the middle of the name, it's just not soft and pretty, IMO.Maybe I just don;t liek it because it's my name? LOL

Most Victorias born now, I notice are being called Victoria, which is what I'd do.
I always use Victoria, unless I am introducing myself-then I say Vicki, because that's what everyone calls me, but on correspondence and all of that, I use Victoria.

It's one of those names I know I should like (classic, traditional, feminine, etc), but for some reason I'm just not too fond of it. It must have something to do with past associations.

You did well, though, it's a very well-liked name without being overly used.

If our 2nd child had been a girl, we would have named her Victoria. I love that name and it would have gone well with our last name.
